Both are great cities! The city of Houston itself is just on another level than Dallas when it comes to culture, food, ethnic diversity, and everything else it has to offer. When it comes Metro vs metro then it’s DFW because of Ft Worth and the large suburbs throughout the area offers more than the GHA suburbs. Can’t go wrong with either but I like being close to the coast so I give the edge to Houston. 🤘🏾

Dallas-Fort Worth definitely has got an all-American and Texas feel to itself. In fact, most towns and cities along the I-35 corridor (from Waco, TX to Duluth, MN) have the similar kind of vibe. DFW is just the largest and the most international one among them.

I was considered raised in Houston. We lived in a mega house, common there. I found people were warm, friendly to you. It really has southern vibes, a culture shock to outsiders. I met so many people, made a group of friends in high School. I'm leaning towards Dallas area as a place to move to outside of California as I'm pressed to leave after 30 years like many others fleeing wildfires etc. There is more opportunity. I'm researching. My dad is from East Texas!

I’m definitely Going with Dallas on this one.
When it comes to culture, Houston has it hands down, food? Houston has better tasting food but Dallas has the wider variety.
Dallas has a better Transportation network and thus far the largest in the south, Dallas is also cleaner, More efficient and feels like Philly or Chicago in a certain aspect.
Dallas has a bite of everything from all corners of the country, though the Dallas music scene is Big aswell with names like Erica bankz, Post Malone, Cuban doll, Asian doll, Mo3, D.O.C, TumTum, TrapBoy Freddy, Yeall beezy, lil will, Durrough music, BigTuck and more.
Dallas feels more like a city than Houston does, faster More efficient, cleaner, and more advanced. Houston feels more like a suburb if anything, They lack a lot of what makes a big city a big city.
As far as Diveristy goes, Houston might be more diverse on paper but I give the edge to Dallas because of its larger metro population l, and more spoken languages and foreign born population.

I’ll say Houston is better because they have bigger shopping centers like the galleria which is the largest mall in Texas and a more diverse culture due to the demographics being 45% Hispanic, 24% black,22% white and 7% Asian. Houston also has better food due to it being closer to Mexico and Louisiana. And I’ll say Houston has more hip hop celebrities that came out of the city like Beyoncé,Slim thug,Paul wall,Mike Jones, chamillionaire,Megan thee stallion and Travis Scott. Houston is more affordable than Dallas. Houston’s nightlife is much better due to it having a variety of nightclubs and bars and attracts more young professionals like young millennials and generation Z.

Touching on the point you made about the music scene in Dallas. From about 2007 to 2011 or 12 to my knowledge Most of the country was listening to Dallas music or influence and didn't even know it. Hits like my dougie, stanky leg, dorroughs ice cream paint job, hurricanes Chris Halle berry song was a Dallas song that he bought from a Dallas artist and made his own. Houston economy is better too because of our diverse industries. Dallas is business finance. Houston is medical, oil and gas, construction, aerospace, maritime, logistics, entrepreneurship, and now tech is emerging because of our strong medical industry. Our educational institutions are better too. Sports scene better also, because Blacks and Latinos dont care about Rangers, Mavs, or Stars. Houston food better, club scene better, music scene better, and we also have a beach even if its dirty. Lastly Rodeo > State Fair. Dallas is great if you're white lol. And more "Ghetto" is just racist code terms for not white. Woodlands, Sugarland, Mo City, Pearland, Katy, Humble, Kingwood, etc are all great suburbs that aren't just lily white.

Houston could be even better if they had more amenities such as resorts, amusement parks, art galleries, and festivals but they do have a decent theater and museum district as well as the largest medical campus in the world and the 4th largest economy home to the energy industry. Houston is home to more corporations and high rises even outside of the downtown area. The big takeaway however is flooding and exposure to tropical storms such as with Hurricane Harvey. Traffic is also worse in Houston. I you live in Houston be sure to have a house on a lake or have one that has a swimming pool as the weather is mostly tropical. Houston is also home to some cruise ship lines that depart weekly. I would say that Spring and The Woodlands is probably the most sought after for suburbs although Rosenberg is also very decent. Dallas and Houston both continue to grow these days and there will be a day in about 20 to 30 years from now when both hit a population of around 10 million each. Both cities will probably be quite a bit different by then as both will probably have a much larger presence of high rises due to the size of their cities.

@Marcus Moore the problem with you out-of-towners is that when y'all moved to Dallas y'all move to the North in the northern suburbs where all the white people are and some black people that are not from there. Dallas is still mainly a segregated City. All of the black people are in the south side of Dallas were you will find the real culture of Dallas that produced all of the songs that I've mentioned earlier in this post. We have our own lingo we have our own hairstyles and the way that we dress in Dallas. Dallas contribute heavily to the culture of hip-hop but is not credited for it wich I can say is my City's fault for marketing ourselves correctly when we were hot. There is definitely a swag and culture in Dallas y'all just need to leave from those white people in go to the South with black people to experience it.

Both Cities population according to 2020 Census:
Houston=2.3 Million (Keep in mind, Chicago is only 2.7 Million as the nations THIRD largest City)
    Dallas=Only 1.3 Million (in comparison)
In addition, look at the demographics & statistics of Houston's Skyline & Central Downtown Area. Houston is SIGNIFICANTLY larger in terms of sheer number of Skyscrapers & High-Rise buildings.
Conclusion: Houston shouldn't only FEEL bigger but statistically? IT IS Bigger in virtually EVERY aspect except possibly in Suburban sprawl.
DFW Metroplex MIGHT compare to Houston in some way, shape or form but City Proper?? Absolutely NO comparison! Not only is Houston's population bigger but it's skyline is also ridiculously Massive! May not have the greatest "designs" & "architecture" compared to Dallas but certainly Bigger. Austin & Dallas probably have the best "visually appealing" designs & architecture for their downtown skylines but they don't have the height & numbers to compete.
Dallas I'm sure has magnificent characteristics but Houston has proven over & over again to be in the discussion as a WORLD CLASS City! Only thing Dallas might have over Houston is busier airport traffic & better sports teams. Nightlife may or may not be better too but I can't confirm that. Houston is the 4th largest City in the Country for a reason.

Dallas doesn't and they just imitate whatever houston does in general. What is dallas known for? Houston, San Antonio & El paso are the big 3 cities in Texas. Dallas ain't even texan while houston has some southern traits but still has more in common with san antonio & the southwest. East & northeast of houston is southern. West & south not at all. DFW it one hour to oklahoma to be fair.......houston has pine tree forest to the north, dallas has praires to their sides......Houston has a better skyline + galleria area, more like a city. DFW it is much a group of small cities, both have gettos and rich areas, that depends on which side of the city yo drive: north dallas is the residential zone, while houston is to the west and southwest. In dallas I like how they lit the skyline, and its new bridges that improve a lot the esthetic of its downtown, houston has not invest in landmarks in downtown,,,,,,but from both of them , I prefer Toronto :P

Though Hispanics(of all races) are the slight majority they don't actual move the city or run the powerful and important aspects of Houston. Not even close. And for the music scene, HIP HOP/RAP IS BLACK CULTURE and dominated by such people. Paul Wall is imitating the black people that basically raised him. J9hnny Dang is a extremely unknown and miniature Jeweler if PAUL WALL didn't bring him everywhere he goes. Get that straight, lil man.And if Houston is ghetto it's because the illegal immigrants.
