An old friend of his who lost his daughter to William finally managed to kill William with the help of Michael, William's oldest son. But, even being burnt inside a building, he carried on by becoming a digital monster, brainwashing and eventually causing the death of game developers. He may likely be still alive after Security Breach, that had multiple endings (of which one he dies). But, as he likes to say, he may come back to continue causing terror through his creations.
