Sir after Brushing with fluoride containing toothpastes, do you recommend any time period of break, like say 30mins or so before any kind of food intake? Does immediate food intake after brushing hamper the action of the toothpaste, or does it have any systematic effect on the body?
It is always recommended not to eat or drink anything for half an hour after brushing. If ingested in very negligible quantities it does no harm. However, the reason for asking not to eat or drink for some time is to allow the fluoride to get adsorbed on to the tooth surface. In fact brushing with toothpaste after having food is a better option.
Tooth powders will usually be more abrasive than the toothpaste. Even if it homemade, the effectiveness and safety of these powders are not tested or investigated. So it would be difficulty to comment on such tooth powders
Sir many people prefer to rinse their mouth well with lots of water after Brushing, do you consider this as a good habit, or does it in any way hamper the action of the fluoride toothpaste or the action of any other toothpaste on the tooth...
You just have to rinse once or twice after brushing with toothpaste. rinsing off all the paste would remove all the fluoride/medications present in the paste.
Sir its a common belief among ppl that brushing along the gum line might lead to recession of the gums, also looking at the way most people brush, i.e., unconsciously & haphazardly, this also seems true in most cases, what would be your advice to such patients, does the use of exta-soft brush help them in anyway?
Brushing along the gum line is very important. Yes if they brush haphazardly then it would result in the recession of gums. You need to use the correct brush(soft brush) and correct technique. It would take some time to master the correct technique, but in long run it would preserve the teeth as well as the gums
Sir you mentioned in your video that ppl need to use fluoride containing toothpastes, could you also mention the age after which it is safe to use fluoride toothpastes as some consider the use of fluoride toothpastes to be harmful in younger individuals....
Everyone can use fluoridated toothpaste. There is a risk of swallowing toothpaste in younger children and that's why you need to give them toothpaste which contains a lesser amount of fluoride (about 650ppm). Instead, for children, we can directly apply fluoride on the teeth at a dental clinic in the form of varnishes. For adults about 900 to 1000 ppm of Flouride would be sufficient in their toothpastes
