  • Ever wonder if Asians reached Rome? We are learning more and more about ancient globalization with new discoveries and decryptions of ancient texts. We often learn about a lot of Greco-Roman explorers who traveled around the known world back then but what about people who traveled to Rome from other places? Asia to be exact and what did they accomplish and do in Rome? What culture and tradition did they bring?

I really enjoyed your approach to an urban legend/cultural myth frequently posited by too much THC stewing in a morass of suburban lassitude. As usual the depth of research, intuitive writing, and masterful presentation was fantastic. Thanks.

Idea for future video. How did the various civilizations communicate with each other during Roman and medieval times? They all had so many different languages.

To imagine the stories told around a campfire somewhere on a road that will become the silk road many years in the future and now almost lost to memory? Love history or not , you are... history. 👍✌️🙏

How do you define 'Asians'? The Roman Empire at it's height was about half Asian, as were it's people.

This video reminds me of the movie, Dragon Blade, starring Jackie Chan and John Cusack. The movie itself, while pretty mediocre, nevertheless highlights the possible extent of contact between the Roman and Chinese empires.

    Woah, woah!
Just because modern Italian populace is 0.3% Buddhist, does not mean that Buddhism had any significant role in Ancient Rome!?!
Sure there were a plethora of foreign religions & cults in ancient Imperial Rome.
There may be reason to believe that Buddhists may have influenced early proto Christians in Egypt, in developing a monastic culture in remote areas.

So, was Marco Polo relevant at all . . . ?

Huh that was way after lol. Rome fell in the mid/late 400s. Marco polo was born in the 1250s. Byzantium was still around as Rome I guess but the sea route still was way to long and difficult. Not until the Portugese in 1500 which is what I meant to say before .
Edit: fixed my comment lol, I was wrong on some dates. Fixed

      1. Invented Math & not much had been changed since then 'bout their methods...
      2. Discovered Anatomy & most foundations of Science today. Again, not much were changed since then...
      3. Architecture back then compared to the flaky/cheap foundations of structures nowadays.
      4. Took human understanding to its peak even without the internet or any encyclopedia.
Think ancient people would've laughed at how we got the world so backwards & back-to-stup*d nowadays.
