    My unit has been working fine for a few years until today when I accidentally started the descaling procedure without the tank attached.
    Thanks to this video I was able to reset the thermal switch with only a couple broken clips lol.
    Keurig could have so simply added a hole/passageway on the side of the machine to allow for this reset without disassembly.
    Obviously having their customers “brick” their units so easily is better for shareholder…

      They also make self resetting thermal fuses that automatically reset after the temperature comes back down. Thank you for watching!

    The reason this happens is when the water resavior isn't seated properly the machine will get hot in a matter of seconds and shut down. I can only imagine how many Keurigs have been scrapped that needed this simply fuse reset. Fantastic video thumbs up thank you 😅

      Thank you for watching. The machine in the video had its reservoir removed while it was brewing which caused the failure.

      Keurig is pure junk. There design and engineering is shameful. For example, would it have killed them to have a simple reset button accessable from the exterior ? Duh !

    This video may have saved my marriage. She had this morning and the coffee maker off the master bedroom was dead. I found your video and had it repaired in 20 minutes. I’m a hero/savior of the morning many thanks again.

    Exactly what I needed, I feel like with the work to remove the casing, I may install a manual reset hole with paperclip pre installed to reset from the outside if needed next time. Thanks.

    Wonderful video! Saved my machine from the scrap heap. Found I could reach in and reset the fuse without having to completely remove the outer wrap. Thankyou I am now going to enjoy a cup of coffee!

    Thank you! This is what was wrong with my machine. So nice to fix it rather than toss out until it's really dead. One disassembled, so easy!

      I agree, the machine is designed with cost and rapid assembly in mind and not for serviceability. Glad to hear you fixed your machine. Thank you for watching

    Awesome help; thank you for patiently walking us through the fix. Wonder why Kuerig doesn't provide a accessible reset button, it will save them a lot of money with the returns.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  7 місяців тому

      There are also automatically resetting fuses available. It’s likely setup like this to force users to disassemble and inspect the machine before resetting it. It’s also causes the machine to fail when the user does something inappropriate. For this particular machine the water reservoir was removed making the user feel at fault for its failure and more likely to replace it. If the reset button was accessible people could also try and leave something in the hole disabling the fuse.
      Thank you for watching!

    Great engineering! Once all the clips are broken, throw it away and but a Mr Coffee….

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  8 місяців тому

      If they all break It will still work and look half decent as it’s really just the black piece behind the water reservoir that is necessary to hold the outer housing to the machine.

    In the time it takes you to disassemble and reassemble I could already just buy a new one 😂

      You could have probably had the machine replaced under warranty. But I think it's great that you are keeping the coffee maker from becoming e-waste. Thank you for watching!

    I would love to buy you a cup pof coffee. I am angree about ;lanned obsolence,, but maybe there is a reason for a thermal overload switch but why not make it accessable?

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  Місяць тому

      They make self resetting thermal overload switches that automatically reset after a few minutes. The manufacturer maybe concerned that the machine may have melted or been damaged in other ways such as a sticky heating element solenoid before the thermal fuse tripped so they may not want to be liable if you were to reset it, they also likely don’t want users to be stuck with a machine that has intermittent issues as that is a bad user experience.
      On the other hand the thermal fuse usually trips when the user does something they know may not be correct. In my case the water tank was removed while the machine was running making the user feel responsible for the failure.

    What problems could cause the Add Water message to not come on when the reservoir drains to empty during the Descale?

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  Місяць тому

      I explain how the low water level sensor that triggers the add water message works at 9:06 in the video. It’s possible that your internal reservoir is not draining.

    Crazy place to put a reset. Makes me think it's so people just throw it away and buy a new one?

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  8 місяців тому

      Yeah, automatic/self resetting fuses also exist. It’s probably like this to both encourage you to throw the machine out and to force you to inspect the inside of the machine before resetting it. If you search online you can see photos where by the time the thermal fuse blows some of the machines internals have already melted.

  • @johnodell1346
    @johnodell1346 8 місяців тому

    There must have been a reason why the water ran dry and the element overheated. If that issue is not resolved, the same issue will happen again. Probably the unit has a clog in the water path because of scalling buildup or some other clog. The fuse blows to prevent a fire, that’s the concern, safety, and why it’s not customer resettable.

    • @welfarewagonrepairs
      @welfarewagonrepairs  8 місяців тому

      In this specific instance the water reservoir was removed while the unit was running.

    Actually, I really appreciate your vid, and I'll give it a shot. But as far as Keurig goes, this junk pile design should just be smashed with a hammer and tossed in the trash. #JUNK
