The thing I'm liking about Yagawa games is the fact they're the Bob Ross of shmup games. There are no mistakes, only happy accidents (rank control). Yagawa games I find are more about how well you adapt to the little things that can happen rather than having the Restart Syndrome of more modern bullet hells. Cool run Mark, GGs.
Hi Mark. Early subscriber here. I got my Battle Garegga clear earlier this year. There was a time when I believed it was beyond me, but your channel is very inspiring, and likely catalyzed my development. I love how personalized Garegga routes are, so I just had to get my version of a 1CC. Some might find it interesting that I opted not to collect medals. For me, the benefits of getting extends beyond the 5,000,000 point extend fell off in terms of ease of survival. I even posted it, which is something I never do.
Well done! 1cc-ing Garegga is no easy feat, especially when the regular ships feel pretty weak, somehow being overtaken by the Mahou characters (what?), it's still amazing to see people pull it off. I also pray for you once you get to Batrider, because that is even harder than Garegga, especially when people go for 1CCs, where they fight all bosses with one character from each game (Team Edit).
I actually find Batrider a bit easier than Garegga. Mostly because its easier to simply remain in a low rank than it is in Garegga. Scoring both is another story though. I'm currently getting to the second half of Stage 7 on Batrider and I'm working on a Garegga 1CC as well. He has already covered Batrider before btw, like a year ago on a video.
Congrats man! I know you were so close. My later evening viewing tonight has now been sorted. I could always use seeing some good strats and commentary on it as I'm nowhere near clearing it on a credit yet. I've also never played the Miyamoto yet so it will be cool to see it's nuances.
Thanks for clearing a bunch of shit up! I’ve been playing this whenever I’m not playing DOJ and it’s pretty cool to experience how different these games are. Both are fun as heck
That's why you wanna pick a game you really like and want to get good at. Imagine putting in a ton of time into a game you find tedious? But if it's something you love to play, then even if it can be a grind at times, you'll at least have fun.
This was a pretty helpful guide. I'd put about 16 hours into the game overall since getting it. I watched this video & sat down with Garegga for another 2 hours, and the 1cc on Premium mode was mine (using DGR October). Next up is to grapple with arcade mode.
Way to go my friend. Thanks for the schooling. I have a copy of this for the PS4 that I have yet to play. I always knew it was a tough game and now I’m terrified! ;) I need a damn college class to understand this game.
Hello Mark! 1. Congratulations on your 1cc achievement with Alpha Dragon Master Sensei 😏 2. Listening to your explanation on "How to Garegga", It makes it more clear to me why it's not necessary to hoard lives and resist the rank torture just to complete it deathless. It just wasn't designed to be enjoyed that way and it's perfectly fine and necessary to lose a life and miss collectibles at times. 3. Awesome content as always. I appreciate it for how much you enjoy doing it. P.S. could you consider doing a video on your Top 10 favorite ship designs?

Nicely done! I’m not sure how I feel about the game becoming harder if you’re doing well. The original Gradius had sort off a similar mechanic where if you have all the options, then it becomes more difficult. It’s not the same type of shmup but it’s what I first thought off
Oh yeah power up rank! Psikyo games have that too, it s an interesting and strange mechanic ha. One fun thing about the ps4 garegga port is that you can turn the rank off in custom mode :-)

Hi I got a couple of questions about the game: What are those bullets in the bottom left corner and what if you run out? Wouldn’t not be better just not pick up any items regarding the rank? What’s the meaning of what mark says in the beginning of the video about “keeping the fire rate at 10?” And last the one, what about the “rate” ?you can assign this to a button and I don don’t really know what it is it’s use
Sure so 1. The bullets on the bottom left are your bomb meter, when they run out you don t have bomb any more. 2. It s best to avoid items to keep rank low, only collect the ones you need like bombs or medals. And 3. Rate is how fast your autofire goes and you can actually set this in your control config menu! 10 is the magic number
it is! But it's super brutal, this clear a bit higher rank than usual. But to get a 1cc i definitely recommend to try your best to learn rank reduction otherwise the last two stages are insane.
@@TheElectricUnderground i get that, but how do you know you’re on a chain or that the chain was broken, in this game? It’s not as obvious as fighting games combos.
@@TheElectricUnderground oh! Thanks man! Hadn’t noticed! This is a really great game, feels like it’s alive. But it’s pretty hard to really get it completely. Probably my favorite shmup ever, as i never got into the “bullet hell” style, with the exception of Mars Matrix. Keep going man!
