As in all your videos your explanations are excellent and all your scenes have been very greatly filmed!!! You look at everything from an outsiders or foreigners perspective! Very excellent. I wished I could give you multiple likes for the same video.
Hola Tony ! Thanks for sharing this video. This is a very helpful tip… Hostales is an option I may consider for my future trip to Spain. 👍 It’s just a matter of finding the best and convenient location. Hopefully by next year, I can make plans. Many thanks again!!! 😊
Thank you, Jasper. We will publish shortly a video with a few recommendations of hostales in Madrid, they might come useful for your future trip. All the best!
Great video. During my recent trip to Madrid I stayed at a hostal in the central part of town in Chueca - steps from Gran Via. It was an interesting experience, you had to walk 4 flights up (no elevator) in a typical residential building (I’m assuming). The room was very compact and basic but it had a private bathroom built in the room. I felt very safe and will definitely stay in such place again - i paid less than 50€ per night. Considering the central convenient location and proximity to metro - this price was unbeatable
Thank you. No, we don't. AirBnb has done so much harm to the tradicional residents of the most touristy areas of the main Spanish cities, that we cannot recommend the platform. See, for instance: www.newyorker.com/magazine/2019/04/29/the-airbnb-invasion-of-barcelona
No, they are not the same thing. Hostals are regulated means of accommodation with all the permissions needed to operate. AirBnb are properties, of all kinds and sizes, rented by individuals or, quite often in Spain, investment groups.

Thanks for sharing your experience, Sam. Chueca close to Gran Vía is an excellent location for a stay in Madrid. All the best!
Hi thanks for the info very eye opening, do you have videos about airB&B accommodation and the costs to stay in them.

Is the Hostals same as AirBnB, the only difference is license and tax ?
No, they are not the same thing. Hostals are regulated means of accommodation with all the permissions needed to operate. AirBnb are properties, of all kinds and sizes, rented by individuals or, quite often in Spain, investment groups.
