  • Hey Everyone!
    Here is the sectional sofa I build last week. I waited to post this video, because I had to wait for the cushions to be delivered. I'm glad I did, because that gave me time to build the cooler coffee table! Go check out that build if you haven't already!
    This was a pretty simple and fun build! I literately had no issues, other than tight fits, but I made it work! I rather have the pieces fit snugly then having to waste wood and do a re-cut. This was build with nothing but 2x4's and one 2x3 for extra support on the back. You can customize the sofa to fit your space and your look. Want to add extra supports? Do it! Want to make it bigger or smaller? DO IT! The world is your oyster! If you love outdoor living, give this build a try! Like I said in my last video... If you don't try it, you'll never know!
    If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. If you would like a cut list, I will be happy to make one for you.
    Thank you for watching, thank you for being here. Please give a thumbs up, leave a comment, share the video and subscribe if you haven't already!
    The sofa instructions are from Ana White. I made adjustments to fit my needs and the amount of cushions I was using. but if you want to see how I got my height measurements go to the following link. like I said, this is very customizable. Happy building!

    I don't normally comment but was looking for ideas for a patio sectional sofa and your came up. Three years into woodworking and I have to say you are much better than you give yourself credit. Of all the builds I've looked at yours is the best. Keep building!!

    Hello ☺️ what are the measurements for all the cut pieces ? Do you have a downloadable print out with instructions available? This is so beautiful!

      Hi there! I don't have measurements but the design idea was from Ana White's outdoor sofa video. For my sofa. Since I was using only 4 cushions, I modified her measurements. Here is a link to her video and below in the description is a link to her plans. This will help you get started and if you need to modify like I did, it will be easy to do. 🙂 thank you for watching my video as well. I really appreciate you!

    Hey great video! One question what is that adjustable tripod tool called that keeps the wood from falling to the ground when you cut it with a miter saw?

      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks! My dad gave me that tool and I want to say it's an adjustable pedestal roller stand? I think that's what he called it when he gave it to me. Love this thing!

      Thanks! I don't have a cut list for this exact build because everything was based on using 2 cushions. But I can send you a link to Ana White's page where I converted her plans to make this. Her plans are so customizable you can make this as big or small as you want! I hope the link below helps! Happy building!

    Jk... just thought I would ask the same question that 60% of people did in here when the first comment and question had the answer.
    Looks great, keep up the good work.

      LOL! Thanks! Yeah, I always thought it was weird people asked when it's in the description. This was one of my first videos, so now when I use others plans, I'll note it on the video. Probably wont stop people from asking LOL! Thanks again for watching!

    How did you connect the back pieces to sofa with 1 arm rest on it

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore
      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore  3 роки тому

      It's been a while since I made these, so I would have to go back to watch, but it's the same as the first sofa. You connect the seat to the arm rest with screws and that's it. I've had mine out in the weather and haven't had any issues yet. Still holds strong.

      I built this based on the cushion size. I'm not 100% sure the size I got. I think I put a link in the description to what I ordered. And as for measurements. I used Ana White's instructions but then customized them to fit my cushions. Here is a link to her measurements. I hope this helps and good luck!

      I thought the same thing after making these chairs and after sitting in the for over a year and all the wear and tear from the elements and squirrels, I'm going to make new ones with a lean to the back and more durable wood. Which I will film eventually. Stay tuned

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore

      Hi there! My measurements were based on the size of my cushions. Which I think were 24x24 inches. So all I did was scale down Ana White's measurements to fit my needs. I'd love to give you my cut list, but at the time I did this video, I didn't think to write them down. I hope this helps.

      No, it's not a polyshade, so you will definitely have to polyurethane your build. What I like to use is by Minwax Helmsman spar urethane

    The back is just way too low. Not you, it's her plans. Idk how the pillows don't flop right over the back.

    • @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore
      @TheTravelingCraneWoodcraftMore  2 роки тому +1

      I completely agree. I didn't think of it when I did her plans. But after a few uses, I realized, it needed to be higher. So this was also a learning experience for me and when I build new ones, I will definitely make it more comfortable and keep the pillows from falling over the back.
