I’m glad u went with the pedals and I know u won’t be disappointed. As u get used to them and as you’re able to more easily perform techniques like trail braking and more accurate throttle control, your lap times and tire management will improve significantly. Even the difference between this race and your most recent was a big jump in the right direction. Through a couple close calls and a ghost 4x, u still pulled off another solid finish… great race!!!

Firstly, I just wanted to say that start launch was really good! And yep, I remember coming from g29 potentiometers, to load cells, and the first thing I noticed is that I could trailbrake way more effectively! And generally just have more precise inputs. But yeah as I've seen a few people here mention, try to learn how to turn the car less with the wheel, and more with your pedal inputs. Track positioning for setting up corner entries, weight transfer to open up rotation without having to turn your wheel as much, and good braking practice will help you get closer to being on the limit with confidence! But you're getting round without falling off the track every 2 laps! The incident at 8:00 ish minutes was unfortunate... Looking at your inputs, it looks like when the guy in front broke, you lifted 100% off the accelerator, and had no brake input for a second, so you were in a coast phase...then you turned and broke, inducing oversteer, then changed down a gear, which just threw you into the spin. I came to see if anybody had commented on the understeer and putting too much steering lock on mid corner lol. Its hard to see things when you're driving, that's why I watch all my stuff back. I could see straight away that you were turning a tiny bit too much and then starting to understeer - and then BECAUSE of the understeer you put more lock on thinking that's what'd fix it. But it's actually the opposite! Practice the same car/track and carry the same speed into the corners and when the car starts to understeer - unwind the steering lock a little to see if it grips up. Let it understeer on purpose so that you can learn what's causing it and how to fix it. These cars have to be driven smoothly without too much scrubbing of the tyres so that you can keep the minimum speed up. Since they are low powered, if you scrub the tyres like this mid corner and carry that scrubbing all the way through it just kills your exit speeds. 7:00 is a perfect example of losing exit speeds by scrubbing the tyres. Watch through to the end of this lap. The final 2 corners show how much it's killing your exit speed. Also to show how little turning the car actually needs watch your spin at the 1st corner next lap 7:50 This shows how little turning of the wheel the car actually needs. You turned a TINY amount and the front tyres gripped up so much that the rear tyres couldn't match them lolol! That's a perfect example that yes you maybe carried a bit too much speed into this spin, but it shows that the car can go faster when it's not understeering! Ps...Apologies for the book I've just written here lol. Happy racing my friend, peace!✌

Just a quick tip (im no expert) i see that you are turning too much which overheats the tires and wears them and gives you less grip. What i mean by less grip is 0.5 seconds after you turn too much another thing is just to listen to your tires the should not be squealing that much
Hi Juan thank you so much for the advice I really appreciate it 👍🏻. I have started to get the hang of trail braking ( although no where near mastered it lol ) and your 100% correct it does over heat the tyres and cost me so much time. I have noticed my times improve since putting less steering input in. Tyre management is still my weak point but I feel I’m improving slowly. Thank you again for your advice buddy 👍🏻

Luckily I pulled it together for the race I’m definitely not perfect but it’s an improvement. Oooooo what are the sim jack pros like ?. That’s fantastic news buddy nothing better than setting new PB’s. Of course. I’m on holiday atm but as soon as I’m back I’ll upload a pic of the settings. Do you want my race onboard settings or my replay settings as they are slightly different ?
What load cell pedals do you have? I went with the Fanatec CSL bundle and added a brake load cell Then I could use the standard pedal for my clutch pedal Good race by the way 😅
Cheers buddy. I was looking at the fanatec bundle but found a thrustmaster T-LCM local to me being sold cheap so went with that still 100kg force etc and is a lovely set of pedals.
One think that might get you a second or two that you might do already I learned this on the track with my track car Coming into a turn, flick off the gas then brake as required, ( no throttle until apex) and trail brake But it's important to flick off the gas as fast as possible
@Jack96993 hi buddy. I have actually only just started doing this as I’ve been practicing trail braking and found that sometimes I needed to flick on and off. But I’m still learning it to get it done properly lol.
@helloharry For some reason I wasn't flicking off the gas fast, just before the braking zone in iRacing And realized I wasn't doing it and actually coasting into the breaking zone costing me time Oh you're doing great! Keep it up and have fun 👍
@Jack96993 I have noticed on my early videos I was doing that now you mention it. Definitely going to be something I watch for again now lol. Thank you buddy I am having fun and love learning all this new stuff :-) 👍🏻
If you don't stay on top of these kinds of pedals they will spike and float all over he place. And with how often I beat on mine I'm constantly having to tighten the bolts and re-calibrate. Fanatech club sports. These things piss me off beyond belief, I almost chucked them into the woods on multiple occasions.
Ahhhh another top tip as I wasn’t aware that they could loosen I mean I guess over long continuous use I kinda expected it little bit. Thank you I will keep an eye on mine now. Oh dear lol so you wouldn’t recommend Fanatec then ?. Thank you for the comment and support 👍🏻
@@helloharry I'd just not recommend loadcells. They work great if I keep them clean though they can suddenly float mid run and have ruined a few races. I'm sure if I swap the brake cell they'd be golden.
@Wzrd8 hmmmm that’s concerning I think I might do some more research on to this. I haven’t noticed anything yet but they are fairly new to me so might be ok for a while. What do you think about fanatec going bankrupt ? Do you think you might change brands because of it ?
@@helloharry to be fair mine are quite old and used to belong to an endurance team mate, so thoroughly beaten on. If yours are new you probably do have a while. Then again I'm still using a g25 and it never had the off center issue common to that model. I'll probably end up switching just because I want new every thing and a working h pattern to go with it, the g25s hasn't worked since windows 7. But I have to buy a real car first lmao.
Ahhhh so they have been well and truly used lol. Mine are used but only by a few months I believe. I would love to get a direct drive wheel at some point as much as I do like my g29 I’d like just abit more power. Have you looked at MOZA stuff ?. Yes defo need to buy a real car first, what have you got in mind for a car ?
1 big tip from a average sim racer. try not to oversteer as much as you are in this vid. it doesnt help you steer more and youre actually turning less as youre overheating the front tyres so you just understeer.
Hi kingsaka thanks for the advice buddy. A few of my other subscribers have mentioned that as well. I am trying to break the habit but I’ve been doing it for it so long that’s proving hard to kick lol. In my latest video I feel I managed to turn the car more with my pedals and slightly less steering input, and my fall off frrom the grip was significantly less I had a lot less understeer at the end then on my previous races. I will continue to practice and hopefully see an improvement. Thank you so much for the advice and support I really appreciate it 😁
@@helloharry A good example is at 4:47. You are not too bad through the corner, but you understeered on exit. When getting on the gas, the Mazda is very prone to understeering. When you triggered the understeer, your reflex was to add more steering input while it should be to let off the gas a bit. When the car is understeering, more steering angle doesn't make the car turn more and it overheat the tire and compound the issue. I find that it was espacially noticable at Tsukuba last week.
@1067148 ahhhh ok thank you buddy good observation. I guess this falls under the using your pedals not your wheel to rotate the car as well. Thank you so much for the comment and the support 👍🏻

They do make a difference, you can trail brake way better and chances of spinning out is less.
They really do, I’m still learning them as they are so different to my old pedals. But despite a few errors on my part I haven’t spun out under braking yet. Thank you for your comment and support I really appreciate it.
@@helloharry i spun a lot trying to get my trail braking on point as much as i can while also getting used to load cells (i got the sim jack pros), already setting some PB’s. But i just got iracing so still learning.
Yeah I was having the same issue in practice before my next video/race which drops at 3pm BST today. When I was braking how I used to brake I didn’t spin at all probably because I was over slowing down but since trying to incorporate the correct technique my amazing subscribers gave me advice on I was spinning out in practice loads. Luckily I pulled it together for the race I’m definitely not perfect but it’s an improvement. Oooooo what are the sim jack pros like ?. That’s fantastic news buddy nothing better than setting new PB’s. I managed to put in times in practice and qualifying that the top split IRacing guys where putting in, a few tenths off in places but still close to them.
@@helloharry so far the sim jack pro’s are amazing, had to do a fair bit of adjustment though because it doesn’t come with its own software. Still need to tweak around with it to get it perfect but so far the muscle memory is in construction. And yep, over-slowing and shifting at the wrong time can kill lap times, its what ive realized.
@PR1NCETD0T nice man that’s awesome, glad you’ve got them set up right to and that muscle memory is under construction 👍🏻. Yeah I thought I had a basic understanding of racing seems I’m still a noob learning lol
Hi can i have your onboard visual setup ?Thanks!
Of course. I’m on holiday atm but as soon as I’m back I’ll upload a pic of the settings. Do you want my race onboard settings or my replay settings as they are slightly different ?
@@helloharry Race settings.Thanks 😊
No worries I will screenshot them tonight for you 👍🏻
Are you looking for anything in particular btw ?
@@helloharry I really like your driving view, I find it very comfortable. A screenshot of the ingame settings is fine!👍
What load cell pedals do you have? I went with the Fanatec CSL bundle and added a brake load cell
Then I could use the standard pedal for my clutch pedal Good race by the way 😅
Cheers buddy.
