I've been to Hamburg to play two shows, and in this shopping mall the salesman showed me how this piano could play and record songs. So I pretended to be a beginner and... 😅

It's a Steinway - much like a Patek or a Rolls-Royce, they sell themselves through reputation.
I can't imagine there was a single sale of this 80.000€ - 200.000€ masterpiece of piano ("Flügel") on this day.

I don't know how many times I've seen this but I always watch it in its entirety.
I'll say it again. This for me is the best viva la vida piano cover since 2008.
I would have said hold my beer and point you to Peter Bence's version, but I now realize he only did Paradise. I'd still point you to Peter Bence for more awesomeness though ;-)

For anyone wondering, this song is an interpretation of King Louis XVI's lost final speech before his death following the French Revolution. It's written from Louis' point of view as he apologizes to his people and accepts his demise. For some background, Louis was imprisoned and publicly executed by his own people following his downfall. When he was marched to the guillotine for execution he attempted to give one last speech to his people before his death, but the French revolutionists booed and the executioner's drums were played louder to drown out the sounds of his words. As so, before Louis could finish his speech he was forced into the guillotine and beheaded, his final words now lost forever.

I don’t think people understand how amazing this is! I’m hearing notes but I don’t even understand how you’re playing them. Like I can hear everything so clearly, yet it looks so different from your playing, but it’s legit? I’m not sure how to explain it well, but it’s awesome!

Beautiful piece of music supremely well played. I knew almost from the first note it was a Steinway And Sons instrument. They have a very distinctive sound to them. The sad part of it is that just as this instrument has matured and mellowed nobody will want it. People spend tens of thousands on new pianos while magnificent old instruments get broken for fire wood. Newer is most definitely not better, and the old instruments that can be had for the cost of moving them can be restored and brought back to life for a small fraction of the cost of a new piano that will never be allowed to match the incomparable sound of an instrument a century or more into its life. Oh, my money is where my mouth is. My own piano is a 1903 Gerard Heinzman Grand In Upright Form. It will only go to a new home when my dead fingers are prised off the ancient ivory.
