Very cool, I want to grow frayfish/frawfish in 500 square feet and what is needed for it,, what should I consider and how many crayfish/frawfish should I have in the lake ?
That's a great use of otherwise redundant land, very peaceful. I laughed at the crocodile. LoL I remember some of the footage from when you started the project. Those gold fish are amazing, so hardy. Soon you will be a Swedish tourist attraction. LoL. :-)
I was hoping the crocodile would scare of a goldeneye bird that comes visiting my pond, they eat lots of crayfish those bastards, but that didn't work. I might have to shoot it, don't want to but if he comes back he is history. A wildlife safari around my backyard, wouldn't that be something lol
Hi, did you put any linner or something to avoid loosin much water thru the ground absortion or evaporation? How many time a year do you have to check level and refill? Great looking job by the way.
@@GurrasGarage my are drainage tiles put in the 1800s from 4 inch to 18inch again thank you for the video best one I've seen Now I'm thinking about crayfish lol
Depends on the size of the pond, my pond needs an air pump also. But clams/muscles are excellent for ponds and so are plants like arrowhead, eelgrass as they clear and clean the water.
@@GurrasGarage just now saw your video as for plague… heartbreaking 💔! Cruel way to spoil your hard labour! But haven’t you thought to grow those red American bastards? I have 5 acres and wanted to set a pond with crawfish. I am from Ukraine so mainly we have same breed as you. And now I am sure that our people are much more cruel and definitely will do that to me. And I wanted to breed crawfish for sale. What do you suggest, our noble one or red invader? Are they different on taste than our?
@olexanderburyak6613 You can try with those american signal crayfish but they carry the dicese. I wont do it in my pond, its illegal in Sweden with pretty harsh penalties. But I think they taste the same.
@@GurrasGarage yeah, we have our crayfish in red book too, and I think the reason is same. It’s regular european crayfish, so I am afraid that birds somehow would bring it in other waters around. So… I will take a risk and do a European crayfish. And maybe tench. I am afraid of carp, they’ll eat little ones of crayfish.
Your pond has become the benchmark of large Sir lol... now that's a pond.
Thanks, it´s a fun project
Awesome we call em crawfish in Louisiana 🇺🇸
Where I’m from they’re crawdads. Not sure why
though it’s rather silly 😅
That was a great idea to film it from start to finish. Turned out awesome bro. Ride safe!
Thanks buddy!
Looks like all your efforts are paying off buddy! Still looks great!
Thanks Tom! yep it turned out pretty good and not to expensive, I did all work myself except digging the hole lol
brilliant Gurra! so greate to remember shooting from the start... I always forget!
Thanks Rune, i´m just glad i kept the files, sometimes I delete them by mistake lol
Cool, I also breed the noble crayfish Astacus astacus in Germany. Good luck!
Thanks, you too!

I have a playlist with videos on how to breed crawfish you can watch them, my only advice is to start small to see if it works in your pond.
@@GurrasGarage ok, hank you
Nice "alligator". It really came out looking great.
I hope it can scare of herons, they take a lot off crayfish. Thanks :)

Happy days, the work is done.
Absolutely It feels good when the work is done !

Cheers, no liner, ground is clay and sand. It depends how warm summer is but I fill up 2-3 times per year.
great video where did the orange clay tiles come from at 37 sec i have some in the ground on my property where I would like to put a pond in
Thanks! They are from a neighbor who put new roof on his house

Very nice outcome for the effort!
Thanks, i´m happy with it!
How did you fill it? - Never mind - saw the well!
Great pond, a lot of work went into it. tasty crayfish ( we call them yabbies in oz)
Thanks! yep very tasty indeed, now i just need to wait for them to grow bigger, maybe 1-2 years.

That was very interesting. Just about ready for summer! rsmf...
Thanks bro, perfect timing :)
Yes lots of work, thanks bro!
How does it hold water though? I’ve always wanted to make a pond like this but worry the water would seap into the ground.
My ground is old sea bottom, clay and sand. If it gets really hot and no rain I have a small well to pump water from.
are freshwater clams/muscles a viable replacement for the filter?
Depends on the size of the pond, my pond needs an air pump also. But clams/muscles are excellent for ponds and so are plants like arrowhead, eelgrass as they clear and clean the water.
What is the area of your 🐟 pond ?
21x12x5 meter
We call them yabbies here !
Interesting, I googled it, It seems they are listed as a vulnerable species also
Not sure what all the meter stuff is
We use the metric system
there was no liner used to make this pond?
just clay..?
No liner
It says how to . I didn't see anything showing how to.
😩
No liner?
No liner
Looking on the process, I can see that it’s in fact natural underground waters, why do you have that piece of liner there closer to garage side?
There is no liner, only macadam on the side for support.

Crawdaddies??
Yes
Hej. Behövdes något tillstånd till det? Går i tankarna på att bygga mig en liten sjö på gården.
