Lawdy Miss Clawdy - Elvis Presley / Lloyd Price Cover - Jez Quayle Rock and Roll

- This rhythm and blues song was written and first recorded by Lloyd Price in 1952. His recording featured Fats Domino on piano and the great Earl Palmer on drums. It was the biggest selling R&B record of 1952. Elvis Presley famously covered the song in 1956, and performed it in an informal jam with his musical buddies on his 1968 TV Comeback Special. My version is based on the Elvis recordings.

Another great song...i love both Elvis Versions. His 1956 recording is great cause i like those early Elvis recordings his voice , his sound. But the 1968 version his also great cause you see him enjoy this performance after so many years of acting in silly movies. He was in shape , he looked handsome and his voice was at his best.
Yes, I love that part of the 1968 comeback TV show where he's jamming with his musician friends. It's great to see him playing guitar and having fun. When I was a young kid in the early 1970s I wasn't really interested in Elvis. I remember seeing him on TV shows when he was very over weight and wore those terrible outfits. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. I remember hearing on the morning radio that he had died back in 1977. I could never really understand why people called him the 'king of rock 'n' roll' though. At that time I much preferred to listen to Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly, Eddie Cochran, Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis and Little Richard. I was much more impressed by those rockers who played their own lead instruments and wrote their own songs. I've got to admire Elvis much more as I've got older though.
One of my favourite this bud
Thanks mate! Glad you like it. 😊

@@RocknRollSongbook Great! Thank you so much! Keep on rockin
You are playing in G major, right?
That's right!
@@RocknRollSongbook Thx. The song is originally in A Major, but it's probably too high for most males, including myself (baritone).
Hallo how is the strum pattern?
Most of the time I'm just strumming up and down (DU DU DU DU) with a bouncy, shuffle rhythm, hitting the strings a little harder on beats 2 and 4 in the bar (the backbeat).
@@RocknRollSongbook thank you
