Often plants use both seeds and a rhizome. Bamboo has some interesting types if you are interested by the way. Some species flower only once every 130 years, followed by the death of the entire forest, until the new seeds take over again. (Look for gregarious flowering bamboo)
Interesting fact: 99% of plants are Angiosperms, meaning they produce flowers that then produce seeds. The two most commonly known plants not apart of this group are conifers and ferns.
Damn there is so much to learn from these videos: -How the soil is actually a living thing, it moves all the time -How the plant behave, and overcome problems on the way -How soil hold moisture and the way it evaporates -In some shots you can see the THOUSANDS of micro-organism working none stop, without which all this would not be possible Fascinating stuff really, so much to learn for our own gardens.

Make sure you prep 2.5 feet moats around your land AND then lines walls with thick material 3 feet high rizomes cannot penetrate through to spread beyond that point. 1 foot sticks up above surface as rizomes can sometimes jump edges if barrior is lower than 4 inches.

Also, some bamboos are clumping and some spread everywhere.
That rhizome comes from a seed

Yes micro organisms are importend, but you can grow a plant perfectly fine in a completely sterile medium so that part is not completely true
