Hey, Doc- I stopped in the middle of your video on Holtzmans Survival Hornet to order one...I was that taken with the product, package, and price. I received my knife today and included in the package was a separate, unadvertised, neck knife- Full tang, G10 grips, it's own firesteel with a striker incorporated into the sheath. Also included was a pocket clip to be added to the sheath if you don't want to use it as a neck knife. (I don't). The knives both present with excellent fit & finish, beautiful grinds, and really nice balance. I just can't believe the value for the $ Thank you so much for turning me on to this maker!!!
Which one did you get? I like them all, but have to say the baby bloodline is my favorite. Works great for all kinds of tasks, and an awesome little skinner!
Great review! Makes me want this knife. I'm still sold on the other holtzman gorilla bushcraft knife with the blue and white handle. Has palm swells and looks to be a tad more comfortable on the hand. This one is really nice though!
I ordered the Holtzman Hornet with money I got for Christmas. I like Holtzman knives good value. I have the neck knife with black scales and orange liners, love it!!❤
I have beat the crap out of my bloodline and it's still in great condition. The thing holds a serious edge. I would be confident taking it in the bush as my only blade.
I have the Bloodline, as well as some his neck knives. I recently got his Baby Tracker neck knife and was very impressed. All-in-all, I love everything I've gotten so far.
I have to Hotlzmens knives, they are fantastic and real value. They aren’t getting the use that my Survive! Knife gets so I have decided to gift them it two friends that really helped me this year. They are great knives and being willing to gift them is it’s own flattery.
The issue with this knife is that it seems to not compete with the Esse 6 which is just about $40 more. I'll have to see a Joe X destruction test of this knife to see how it handles stress. The Esse 6 handled it extremely well, and the Mora Companion and Robust both passed his tests.
We've covered this a few time. I said it's not a Scandi. I said it's what has been called a "modified Scandi Grind", but that doesn't actually exist, that it's a term that was made up by manufacturers. Please go back and pay attention to that part to see.
For someone in a wheelchair like me this would be perfect I have the knife that hangs from my neck. The only thing that would make it better would be a belt or shoulder bag clip
I prefer a high saber grind for my main knife... The scandi feels better carving wood... But, you will sharpen it more often... I do carry a scandi (Mora) for detail work and feathersticks... For convenience. For a one knife solution, this looks like a very good package. Well thought out.
Would love to see a review on Nate's tracker variant he designed, he also made one as a neck knife in a tracker variant. I'm getting the necker but I'm not decided on his tracker or his warthog which he just dropped, that thing has a full flat grind and same accessories. I have his first neck knife and also his silver back as well as his 6 inch by 1/2 inch thick ferro rod which is just perfect for my first kit.
Stay tuned for the new Congo that will be out shortly. Looking forward to getting this out and beating it a bit. The Grauer, Lava line, and Mandrill feel the best in hand to me, but this Congo is no slouch!
Definitely nothing scandi about it, Definitely saber height flat grind. The blade shape has nothing to do with scandi only the primary grind itself, since it has a secondary bevel (probably a v edge) it makes it even farther from a scandi. I would say your right about the handle tho it looks like it would produce hot spots and should be more rounded, I dont know why people don't offer colored sheaths to match the handle somewhat. Looks like a good value for the money, especially with the included ferro rod and scraper.
Bad news, they aren’t available for other countries. Here in Australia they dont have a supplier so are unable to ship here without paying at least 100 usd Only sad thing about em
Batonning 🤬🤬🤬, but just my opinion. I generally guarantee my knives for life, BUT, I won't guarantee the handle with batonning. Wood cracks, bone and stone are brittle, as are some man-made materials
I never said it was. So I guess you missed the part where I said *it's actually. Not a Scandi Grind, and I'll explain why..."?!? You're a fucking dipshit.the manufacturer, and many other people say its a Scabdi. And those who don't know have calles it a Scabdi, because of the shape of the blade. Hence the words" at first glance it looks like a Scabdi Grind... " which is immediately followed up by *but it's not a true Scabdi Grind..." I explained how the term modified Scabdi Grind isn't a real thing. It's something made up - yet people do in fact use the term to classify some blades. But I clearly stated that a Scabdi Grind blade takes the grind straight from the spine down to the cutting edge. I'm sorry you're too much of a fucking moron to understand what was said in the actual video. There's nothing worse than an idiot who makes snide comments to correct what's said in the video, based on not actually listening to the video. Liking your own comment was a pretty pathetic move too. You have to know that creators know the timing of when a comment is left, when a like is left, and the the correlation of a comment and a like on that comment being left nearly simultaneously. Thanks for giving me the next person to highlight to the rest of the channel as our next Douchecanoe Award winner. Come back this week to see your comment and name shown off for everyone!
Doc has forgotten more than you know about knives; I'm a blacksmith and knife maker with more than thirty years experience, and his knowledge of steels, grinds, and uses is excellent
I really don’t understand how anyone thinks this is a deal. It’s a Chinese made questionable D2. If it was $50 maybe $60 I’d say it might be worth it. No way $99 is worth it. Many much better knives for much less. Look at Spanish made knives. UA-cam has people believing crazy marketing. This is just ridiculous.
Trust me the price is better than some knives out there priced way higher, I own the first neck knife he had out and after 6 years it still is serving me well, I also have the silver back that has been with me for 5 years and I have put that knife through hell and back at least four times and it is still as strong today and it was when I took it out of the box. I love this guy's knives and fully support his brand. Trust me the complete package you get is way worth the price. Look into him. He also came out with a tracker model now I'm interested in seeing how it is one of my favorite blade style, I would love to see a review on that one before I buy it. No one on UA-cam has a review on it. I would love to be the first to review on it. God that would be awesome. I already have some torture test in mind that have broken a couple of high end blades, my silver back eat those challenges for breakfast, this new one would be awesome. Look into it awesome channel my friend keep up the great work and I look forward to another review. This guy has to make it out there to more people his knives are completely awesome. Even the major UA-camrs like Gideons tactical and pm 101 don't do reviews on these knives. This guy brand is a true sleeper. Oh well
What a useless, stupid comment. First of all, It's not even a complete sentence. So you've proven you lack even a grade school education. Congratulations; you're a moron. Second, how did you expect this was going to play out? Someone one was going to beg you to stay? You thought that because you're special, suddenly the video would talk less? Go take your pills with the rest of the feeble idiots in the group home and stop using the internet unsupervised. Stick to the Nick Jr. Shows that are made for people with IQs similar to yours and stop watching content that's obviously WAY too difficult for you!

Great company and great knives.
Just go grab the Mandrill and get it over with. You won’t be disappointed. One badass blade!

The hornet isn’t a scandi grind. It’s a saber grind.

The Bloodline was in the Battlbox mission 93. You might have been too drunk to remember.
I was thinking the same thing. Lmao. He was dogging on the logo at first, then he picked it up and was really impressed.
Very nice kit !
Doc you gave a good review for the bloodline that came in BattlBox…I have a lavaline as well and I love it! It’s a big boy
Stay tuned for the new Congo that will be out shortly. Looking forward to getting this out and beating it a bit. The Grauer, Lava line, and Mandrill feel the best in hand to me, but this Congo is no slouch!
Woooooooo!
Been really happy with all my Holtzman’s stuff
The old (1964) copy of the Boyscout handbook they call it a fuzz stick
Ordered one hope you get some credit
Nope, I don't get anything out of it. You are going to get a great knife and small USA business owner is going to get some business.

Great info

It looks to be a very suitable alternative to a GSO.
To thick of a grind to be a scandi even if the grind didn’t have a micro bevel more like a saber grind with a micro bevel.
That would be my EDC and it would retire my Mora. I love the size because it is not to big or small.
Batonning 🤬🤬🤬, but just my opinion. I generally guarantee my knives for life, BUT, I won't guarantee the handle with batonning. Wood cracks, bone and stone are brittle, as are some man-made materials
You have no clue what a scandi grind is do you ? What you’re holding is a saber grind 🤦🏻
I never said it was. So I guess you missed the part where I said *it's actually. Not a Scandi Grind, and I'll explain why..."?!?

I do like their knives but the attempts to portray them as an American company is a pretty gay area when the knives are made in China.

@@pinkymcnastystinky3465 terava knives the puuko 140, Demko armiger, I personally love the SRK-C $35. Well what do you think?
