  • DNY World Trade Center Responder Vin D., and Family Member Loreen S. share their personal stories of September 11th in their 9/11 Tribute Museum presentation of We Were There on stage at the National September 11th Memorial Museum.
Vinny was a captain with the New York City Fire Department, and was responsible for special emergency equipment that was usually deployed outside of the city to disaster zones like hurricanes or floods. He never thought that he would ever have to use it in New York. His story tells of his transportation of this equipment to Ground Zero, his experience of being at the site, and the unexplainable occurrences that he witnessed afterward.
Loreen's son Matthew worked for Cantor Fitzgerald on the upper floors of the North Tower, and was among the 1300 workers who had no hope of escaping on 9/11. Loreen speaks of her son's heartbreaking final phone call, the moment she realized that she had to move on, and her journey to healing through establishing a foundation in his name.

In 2021, watching the interviews and tellings of personal experiences with survivorship is reframing this catastrophic event for me, and I am grateful. I was 13 years old on 9/11, and now as a 33 year old with some life lived, the stories are reaching me in a way of relating and relevance which only comes with time, and age, and the threat of loss. Thank you, thank you, thank you, for giving voice to your sufferings. We are grateful.

I feel a similar way about these stories except I’m 20 and wasn’t born yet on 9/11. I can’t fathom the magnitude of this event nor the reverberations that it had on the world immediately after.

@@nickysticky100 I am so, so glad to know that there are young ones taking up the mantle of burdensome knowing. There was a push for a long time to shield the reality of this event and it’s ripples from the innocents of our nation; it’s more vital than ever that we teach, with care, the events of the recent as they relate to the world as we see it. Continuing the conversation is the only way to promote enough awareness to prevent any type of repeat of the horrific events of that day. May your love of learning see you through into a happier new year, and for all the years yet to come.

Amazing miraculous story of young firefighter sitting for a break, and cancelled check floating straight down from heaven to his feet, with him recognizing the name of one of the victims who had died in the tower- and being able to return the cancelled check to the family, (father-in-law) and newly widowed wife- check was for wedding anniversary flowers. And another miracle, photo of new tower one, with miraculous Crucifix with smoke arising from its top, seen in photo.

Ill never forget that feeling in a place of such sadness ..... ill return someday ... best regards and much love from Ireland ☘️

There's a difference between the fire department and cleaning up after a fire! This was a huge clean up for the Military! Christians love to always wear a cross around their necks... "Do you think if and or when Jesus were to ever come back, that he Ever want's to see a Cross Ever again? 🤣 The ancient torturing device in which he supposedly died from for 3 days or whatever...😕😏 That's like going up to Jackie Kennedy with a little sniper rifle pendant and give it to her saying "Just wanted to give this to you, thinking of John..." That might be why he hasn't came back yet, looking down, "No dad, I can't yet, they are still wearing those crosses." - Bill Hicks 😂🤣👏👍

VanillaGorilla 84 lol 😂 I see your point but think about it, if you saved someone’s life you would be so proud of yourself and be so proud of that day. If you believe the Bible then you believe Jesus saved billions of souls from an afterlife in hell. So I’m sure he is very proud of being able to endure the suffering and pain to save the humans he loved. It’s actually quite a beautiful love story. The God of the universe came down to earth, became human and was born to a poor young woman. Lived a poor impoverished life, then died a miserable death to save those he loved. God did that, he didn’t have to, he wanted to! It’s quite beautiful. But your comment did make me giggle. Have a good day!

@@bacaworld7095 Well I'm glad to have at the least, gave you a giggle... 😁👍
I can completely relate to saving someones lives, considering that I have saved at least 2 through ouy my 34 years, both cousins of mine, two separate times, years apart, and both times happened to be water/drowning related, one way worse than the other, but I was able to save both of them, and yes of course it does make me feel good, but I don't understand the correlation between saving a life and Jesus, in fact the fact Jesus wasn't there to save them himself is the reason I had to do it myself, no god(s) needed... You claim that Jesus has "saved Billions of souls from burning in hell..." 😕😒🙄 Uh... Have you read the Bible? 🤨 There is No doubt that the majority of people will be going to hell according to the Bible, I mean there is a reason that there is only a stairway to "heaven" and a highway to "hell" if you catch my drift... 😏🤘
I find your assertions of Jesus being so loving and caring when it is Him, in which he even says outright, that He is the creator of All Good and Evil... It is Jesus who is responsible for some all the murder and death within the bible, not the "devil." Which you ought to know, assuming that you have read your bible...
For all you Christians who claim that their god is All-Loving and Loves Everyone, Could you grab your bible real quick, or Google it real quick, and read Genesis 6:6, will take 10 seconds...
What is there that you can say about your god being All-Loving after having read that?
Seems awfully funny that an All-Knowing, Omniscient, being somehow made such a mistake, doesn't it? Makes one wonder, If your god is All-Knowing, All-Loving, All-Powerful then he Knew that Eve would Disobey him and eat the fruit, condemning All of mankind and setting in motion Everything that came after, events which he knew would follow.
So Were all to believe that Jesus makes Defective product but Blames his product for being Defective, sends himself to be born as a human by way of a Virgin birth just to sacrifice himself (a blood sacrifice ) to himself, to serve as a loophole to rules that he had control over from the whole time... Christianity has Institutionalized Guilt as a Virtue... How does this make any since..? Which also begs the question, "why did he need the flood, which included the Death's of Pregnant women and innocent children, in the Greatest act of Global Genocide Ever committed?"
      🤔😕🤨
I'm wondering, since you claim/assert that the Christian god sent his Only son, which is also himself, but we can get into that later, why do you think that having your son born, tortured, murdered for a few days (blood sacrifice) and then comes back to life, right? So didn't stay dead, is some how a noble idea, let alone make Any rational sense in any way? Big Deal Jesus, your dad/yourself sent you here to suffer and die, Congrats! That's what all the rest of us are doing... I mean, would you Kill your son if "Jesus: told you to?
The idea that the Christian god could Only forgive us for our "sins" was to have his Only son born, tortured, murdered in a (Blood Sacrifice) as a scapegoat is Absolutely Ridiculous, a Deeply Unpleasant idea. I mean if your god felt the need to "forgive" us for reasons. mistakes in which he had ultimate foreknowledge and control over the whole time, Why wouldn't/Couldn't if he is so Loving, just forgiven us, instead of had is own son tortured? I Never asked for the universe to be created, I Never asked to be born, I Never begged for existence, therefor why should I owe a deity Anything? I've heard many theists say, "life is a gift from god." If life is a gift, then why is payment expected in the form of worship? I mean, it's like being charged for a service you Never asked for, and if not, then I am threatened with eternal torture in hell...
Well i'm about as afraid of your god's wrath as I am stepping in a steaming, heaping pile of unicorn Shit, and for the same reasons.
And If you plan to be enjoying heaven while Multitudes are tortured FOREVER, well then you are as much of a Sociopath as the god you worship... But, What if the interpretation of the interpretation of the interpretations have been all wrong this whole time? What if Lucifer loved humanity so much, he rebelled against god when god abandoned us. So he left Heaven to join us in Hell?
I'm curious if you know what the Quran says about those who don't believe in him after death? 😏😕
How often do you worry about spending an eternity in the Muslim "Hell?"
A god who demands worship, to be adored and revered, but who, when he is not, becomes a vindictive, insecure, paranoid, sociopath, wrathful, jealous, maniacal, genocidal, megalomaniac, much like a petulant child with an obvious and severe inferiority personality disorder, is Not a god worthy of worship... The sad part, to me, is that I have to point the obvious out to people who are otherwise capable of reasoning...
Personally I am a Truth seeker and my atheism is nothing but a side effect through that endeavor. I am Not saying that a god/s Do Not exist, which I would be happy to make an argument for if you'd like, especially a "Personal" god like Jesus/Allah, but theists claim that a god in fact Does exist and I simply say that I'm Not convinced, based on the Lack of Any Evidence/Reason... and choose to withhold belief until further Evidence/Reason can me provided and or demonstrated, as any Rational thinking person should...
      "God" is not an explanation.
It is a placeholder for those lacking the courage, or the intellectual honesty to say "I Don't Know."
Near the core of religious experience is something remarkably resistant to Rational inquiry...
I mean do you believe in say, unicorns or leprechauns? Yes? please demonstrate..? No? ask yourself WHY? apply that Same Logic to the god/religion in which you find yourself and it should become crystal clear why I Don't believe in your god... If you can't demonstrate it, you certainly Don't know it and say that you do...
Religion to me seems to be of the morally weak and intellectually lazy, teaches us to be satisfied with not understanding the world and is nothing more than a gap-closer and is Always an emotionally driven process in which one wills oneself to believe that which one wants/wishes to be True... The Absence of Evidence/Reason is Evidence/Reason of Absence to me...
I think that it is time we admitted that Faith is nothing more than a cop out, the license religious people give one another to keep believing when Reasons fail. I mean, if Faith is one's reason for believing something, one could use Faith to justify Anything they wanted to believe, and sadly, many don't see the problem with that. In religion, Faith is a virtue. In science, Faith is a vice...
Truth is available to those who's curiosity exceeds they're desire to prove themselves right, who's passion for Truth is Bigger than their fears, who have the courage to Question whatever they have been taught... Unanswered questions are far less dangerous than unquestioned answers, in turn meaning that I'd rather have unanswered questions than unquestionable answers...
Try to understand that our beliefs actually Do matter because they inform our actions, and if one holds irrational beliefs, it can and will result in irrational behavior.
If there actually is/was a god, atheism must seem to it as less of an insult than religion...

VanillaGorilla 84 wow, this is quite a long post to respond to, I have so much to say but not enough time to go through it all. However I will say this. We all have our own choices and our own free will to do as we like . I believe God loves everyone more deeply then you and I can imagine. I believe he made sure you were there to save the cousins from drowning and weather or not you know it you probably responded to his voice when he said to save them, or look over there or however it may have gone. But you also had the choice to do nothing. People ignore God everyday and then complain bad things happen to them and why do good things happen to so and so... because some people hear and listen to warnings of danger and help.
I am absolutely not an aggressive argumentative person. If you had true interest in a nice talk I will happily give you my number and we can chat. I also am a firm believer in your right to think, feel whatever and however you want to. After all that was Gods gift to us, free will. So I definitely won’t have a heated discussion with you here or anywhere. I hope you have a great day, and thank you for taking the time to respond to my comment. Feel free to msg me and I’ll give you my number so we can chat :)

The cross is a symbol of his sacrifice for us. A symbol of his love for us. A symbol of the promise he made to us. The example you used of JFK taking a bullet from a communist is silly and ridiculous. JFK didn't die willingly for us. His death brought no promise of salvation. It was just one more death of one more average, mortal being. There's a difference in immortalizing a murder and immortalizing a sacrifice made for love.
