    I was never accepted in high school too. But as you grow older a lot of the stuff that mattered when you were younger and still in school don’t matter when you’re a grown adult. That’s why you should just keep to yourself and never worry about what other people think of you when you are young and going through life.

    S/o to Ak. As a Nigerian Immigrant I can completely relate to this story. My career as a Mechanical Engineer was selected for me by my parents the day I was born. Also, the rankings in class in primary & secondary school brought nostalgic feelings. The top 5 are announced and cheered while the bottom 5 were booed at assembly. Quite frankly, I’m pretty pleased with the outcome.

      @avelanchex2 2 роки тому +16

      @@Obaol7 Well I disagree. I wasn’t a fan of booing those at the bottom but the ranking DEFINITELY made us competitive and instilled the strong desire to move up the hierarchy. The success of the Nigerian American community is not a coincidence or a fluke, so how would you describe the ranking system as “not good” when it’s producing outcomes? This “everyone gets a prize” BS is part of the problems this generation are having.

      @@drlove994 In the majority of the poverty is by force. Corruption is the number cause. Haiti, Cuba for example are the most corrupt. So in that situation parents of children make sure they got to school to and become successful.

      It be the nuances that they don't wanna talk about. Middle and upper class Black Americans(the sect of black Americans these black immigrants refuse to compare themselves to) come from long lines of successful people. These niggas be the first of they line, and they always bragging because they ain't used to shit. Black Americans established our own famn colleges, 107 of them and been doing this shit for a couple hundred years. Puttin them through our colleges since the 1800s. These immigrant niggas is new money.
