Still brilliant despite the mistake. To me, it seems that she took about ten seconds to catch up with the rhythm after the fall,and then immediately went on for the approach of the triple-triple combination.The other jumps here were huge and effortless.The spins,the stretch on her spiral,the balletic arm movements between the elements,the quality of the skating skill,the various entries into some of her jumps,and the intricate footwork at the end of the program were more enjoyable to watch.
gotta love it when a skater managed to bounce back from a fall and fight on with the rest of the program! also, I always appreciate Mao's difficult and varied jump layouts - it's always a treat to see her doing 3-3, 3-2-2 combinations. Plus her step sequences are always fun to watch!
I'm not her biggest fan... but I applaud her for this performance. My first time watching it and its beautiful. Although she failed the triple axel, she was able to finish flawlessly with two 3-3 combinations and that double axel double loop double loop was incredible.
There's just something that's so bewitching about Mao's skating. I've watched a lot of other skaters but I end up coming back to her. She's so light, graceful and artistic on the ice, you can't take your eyes off her. :)
She is a female that demonstrates high-class sophistication which is a form of femininity at its finest. She does this in many different ways. So thankful for her loyalty devotion commitment ability to motivate and inspire people to be true towards love honor and the creation of life. She is able to do this thanks to her genetic heredity on top of formal education hands-on experience in learning her own body's capabilities and limitations for she fully engages with all her body senses to their extreme limits. She had the greatest playlist on MySpace. I used to enjoy exercising to her selection of music. I remember a few songs. Which is good considering she had enough music to keep you going for days if not weeks. Only because of her do I have a understanding of the value potential of rotating elliptical symmetrical force.
She is a great skater. I hate comparing her with other skaters. Mao is Mao. If she hadn't been so obsessive to her triple axel.. she could have performed greatly to even these days. She looked great with this kind of music and choreos.. she should have known Tarasova hadn't been the best choice for her... I am kind of sad when I'm thinking Mao.... She had had her chance to be better than this... Anyway, I would like her to finish her skating career well and be happy.

Being a figure skating fan is awful cause I know sometimes how awful judges can judge even though they have eyes and they've watched same thing as I just did. And I felt the same thing in 2014 after this.

Which Mao fans said that Mao's better than Yuna? I'm a Mao fan and I participated in a lot of Mao fan community and I don't know anyone who said that. We love Mao because she's special in her own way. We know that Yuna has textbook perfect jumping technques, no doubt about that.
Yu-Na didn't even get the silver medal in 2008, it's obvious that she didn't deserve the gold in. She deserved it in Vancouver and this year in London but not here.
i think that is very true but she is, fortunately or unfortunately, truly athlete. she is trying new things every year. three 3A in the short and free programs were part of her big challenge. in addition to it, her 2nd triple has got downgraded ridiculously many times in the last season. and lutz was judged as wrong edge. she was sorta required to choose this program. but!! meaning, she has so much more she can do! go mao!
Even a fall , she had the rights to win the gold ... enough the program componets to had the scores .. She was never be overrated .. She just deserves of what shes been working on her crafts... appreciate at least what a skater is..

To all sour and pathetic Yuna fans who wrote stupid comments here: Mao did a perfect short, where Yuna fell on her Lutz. Yuna already was in a disadvantaged place. Mao did 6 triples in the free, and received 1 deduction for the fall; Yuna did only 5 triples because she singled her Lutz. The GOEs that Yuna received can't compensate for the loss of the Lutz and the fall in the short and this is why she lost. Please, review the event and the protocol FIRST every time before you comment so you wont look like a fool.

You don't look only at the opening and give her a mark that is solely based on that section because that will be unfair judging. Just like you don't judge a book by its cover. She did only *crossover* for 20-30 sec during her opening. Nobody does only crossover for 20-30 sec like her after some mistakes. so that's why I think she earned so high score in the presentation score.
Mao Asada definitely deserved to win the competition. This program as planned was the most difficult Ladies program of all-time. Even with the big mistake at the start, she still delivered better technical content than anyone else. Her skating quality and performance quality were also better than anyone else in this competition. Plus, she was easily the best in the Short Program. A very deserved victory.

I have to say looking back at Mao's old programs they suited her so well. If u were to look at her new Free Skate to The Bells of Moscow the program is a disaster. Poor Mao is losing the fire she once had and i am sorry but she deserves lighter programs not heavy programs that suffocate her underneath lots of difficulty. Because of this we will not see her in Japan at the site of the Grand Prix final
She was gorgeous to watch. Her second Worlds victory was Amazing. She unfortunately had some bad early technique training with her lutz they never got corrected. She also had a sick mother during he competitive season whom died. It seemed to hamper her consistency.

I miss this Mao. Where's the grace, the musicality this year? She's all power and triple axels now. Boring programs and uninspiring music, and for the Olympic season too. I hope she gets back to triple-triples and a more lyrical style. And then she and Yu-Na can have a proper rivalry again.
What a pity... lol. Mao is still skating and performing even better programs than this. It's absurd to say that she is a rival of Korean who just paddles and paddles and jumps to flatter the judges!
It seems like there is a rule that Yuna must put on a perfect short and a perfect long programs to win a major championship. She has the cleanest jumps among lady skaters, but gets wrong edge calls on her jumps. Amazing that Yuna has managed to win some championships.
Um maybe your blind or you have no idea what just happened because you’re irrelevant. She literally did two triple triple combinations, gorgeous spins, and she was able to deliver a great performance after that fall, so how about you just shove something down your mouth so you can stop speaking.

この頃って、ショートもフリーも皆、得点低いね。今とはルール違うからなんだろうけど…尚更バンクーバーのヨナの爆盛り得点は何だったんだ？
この頃は加点が最大で2.10しかつかなかったですし、PCSが全体的に辛かったですからね。ステップのレベル4も実質ほぼ不可能でしたし。PCSがショート30、フリー60点なんていうのもシニア1年目では到底あり得ませんでした。ヨナの爆盛り銀河点が現在のスタンダードになってるのはちょっと笑えますよね(笑)
最初のジャンプが思いがけないことになってしまったけど、動転せず演技を完璧に終える所はさすがプロ！
技術も凄いけれど、メンタルも強いよね。
オリンピックで金メダルをとって、そのあとの大会でグダグダな演技をした誰かさんとは大違い。
あんなのと浅田選手をライバルになんてしないでほしい。

She was deducted for the fall and got zero points for the missed axel. She was ahead in the short program. There was nothing corrupt about it.
