I have the exact same one. My local medical office were upgrading their equipment and threw this one out on the sidewalk. I picked it up and brought it home. That set screw was a bit rusty but a dremmel with a wire brush made very quick work of that added a bit of grease and it's working like a champ now. It's very very accurate scale. Very satisfied customer lol.... Thanks for posting this vid.
I have a similar scale from the same manufacturer, but maybe a different model. I’m able to ZERO it w/ no problem, BUT it’s reading ~10lbs LOW, (220 vs. 230). Is there a recommended procedure for CALIBRATION?
Thanks Doc for sharing. If you dont mind, what model is that scale? Just curious. I am torn between one such as this and a high end digital scale. Thanks a million. 👍
Discovered the calibration screw on my own a couple of decades ago. I think it was a gym scale, and I thought, shouldn't the indicator be balanced in the middle before you step on it? I have NEVER seen a calibrated scale in a doctor's office.
@@redzombi2k I should have been more clear lol I appreciate the breakdown, but I was referring to changing out parts to convert the top scale to lbs. Like physically change out parts to convert it.
hi doctor i i follow the way how to balance and calibrating a manual scale the arrow it is show in the midle but when i weights the scale not working can you show me if something happing the arrow not jump up can you do any thing else thank you for your help
First you have to check the paper that says before use, scale company's almost always put shipping bolts or tape, to protect scale from damage, so check for this first, second you might have to open the sale and check for the springs might of come off, best thing if is new return it, should have 6 months to 1 year warranty, good luck
I have this “new” electric scale and it says my weight is different every single time. I’m sick of this newfangled electric crap and I’m ready to go back to manual
Moon Light Actually you are wrong. Sure the mechanicals can be somewhat more accurate than a really cheap digital scale but your middle to high end class digital scales are more accurate than mechanicals to a tenth of a pound.
@@смиренный-х2б so wait, just to be right, u had to say "high end digital" I am sure that people weighing varied things in the world have very high end machines. But this is a drs office, not NASA. What makes the digital one "cheap" in the first place? Now we gotta have THAT conversation.. I'm thinking no one cares about human weight "to the tenth"

I have a balance beem health O meter scale in my home and I 0 it out and check my weight then go to the DR office (20 min later) and there digital scale shows 15lb different, what happened???
The counterweight does not turn. It is slotted on the bottom to prevent it from turning. Turning the screw is the correct way to adjust the zero balance.

What about the base of the scale that you stand on
I think there’s something wrong there on the scale I have at home

Do you happen to know how to calibrate an antique Fairbanks scale?
Thanks!
I bought one of these older scales and it works great. I realized the top bar is kg’s though lol is there a way to convert it to lbs?
To convert kgs to lbs multiply by 2.2 - Example 10kg x 2.2 = 22lbs
If converting lbs to kgs just divide by 2.2 - Example 50lbs ÷ 2.2 = 22.72 kgs

@@aguitarhero007 lol 😆 I got ya. Idk about that. Maybe look on ebay for a doner/broken one?
If it's like mine, you can flip the bar. One side is pounds, and the other is kilograms.
@@ke0nc I will give that a shot! Thanks
Perfecto Thanks
Not sitting right in the middle. Do you know what your doing?

0:27 I think you mean *with weight on it cause that doesn’t make sense
Sorry but this is not a calibration, it is called Leveling Of The Poise Arm, and it is not more accurate than a digital scale
You're an idiot. Digital scales are far from accurate. Analogs are better and mechanical is the best n most accurate

You don’t turn the screw. You turn the weight on the screw!
