      They do not want to fund a black DA who is going to show results and take away the crime narrative they use to scare people to vote for them. The commissioners have an axe to grind. They didn't care about these backlog cases until she took on trump and fast tracked his case. That's the simple reason.

      Because this black woman is holding a wealthy white man accountable. And they are putting their foot in their mouth. One minute they get on tv and say democrats want to let criminals out but here in this interview she is being pressured about criminal having to stay incarcerated while awaiting trial. They are full of 💩.

She certainly has a sharp brain and a warm heart. I am looking forward to watching her in the upcoming Trump-and-friends trial even more, having learned more about her and her work.

      In that case, every jail in the U.S. should be shut down. That’s impractical. Y’all think her actions pertaining to her relationship with the lead prosecutor was unethical, ok…but there is no need to take it further. Outside of that, cases she has prosecuted still remain valid. The only way they wouldn’t is if it could be proven her actions gave rise to the possibility that the defendants were falsely indicted. No evidence presented against Willis gives that.

    • @keli449
      @keli449 8 місяців тому +1

      @@Legallyhaitianits more than the relationship and that just ties in with everything else she has done wrong. She did not get approval of hiring wade, she did not submit reciepts of money's spent over $100 dollars, she paid the guy a salary 3x the amount over experienced attorneys. She got financial kickbacks from wade, going on vacations, wine and dine etc; she knew what she was doing by saying she only paid in cash so there would not be a paper trail of her being financially benefitting from wade. Last I know cc are the most widely used forms of payments and there are many money payments to another like venmo, cash app etc; doing this wade was able to file taxes and get reimbursed by the irs for the full amounts and most likely did not tell the irs this .

    • @Legallyhaitian
      @Legallyhaitian 8 місяців тому

      @@keli449 everything you’re naming surrounds her relationship with wade. In what way does that disadvantages Donald as a defendant? Remember that’s the main thing defense needs to prove. Defense is saying Wade and Willis spent over 20,000 on trips for two. Meaning the only amount they can “claim” Willis benefited from was around $10,000. And that’s not even in hard cash, but in “pleasurable experiences”. Willis is currently making $200,000 in her position. It just doesn’t make since for her to hire someone just so she can make a lil extra $10,000. Y’all can badger Willis for having a relationship on the low, but you cannot make that a crime. Yes it’s unethical. Shoot, petition to get her fired if y’all want. But to say she needs to be jailed or her past convictions released is just showing a clear misunderstanding of the law.

      I'm not sure what you mean by the mainstream media? There are many different organisations from the 'traditional media' interested in covering her right now, given her role and the election interference RICO case that she is leading. Is this interview not from within the mainstream media?
      In general terms, it is the function of a free press to challenge and hold accountable publicly elected officials for their record, including their mistakes and failures, by asking tough, rigorous questions, giving them adequate opportunity to respond, and ensuring the factual content of their answers is truthful. These are functions I associate with news journalism, rather than the commentators and conspiracy theorists that seem to populate the non-traditional media. Journalism gets a bad press, excuse the pun, from the non-trads; and the public frequently seem to prefer opinion that suits with what they already believe to facts that may be inconvenient to them. Which is bad news for journalists trying to cover the news in a balanced and truthful way.
      This reporter seemed to be looking for a 'gotcha' moment at the beginning, but she was determined not to give him one. She's impressive, I think, although I see her from outside the US, where she would be unknown if it were not that she, as an humble DA, is taking on the former President, and her case looks to be strong. So there's a David-and-Goliath aspect to the case that gets emphasized, but not unduly so, I think. What she is doing is important and courageous.

What’s the suspension and extension of that trial process therefore, in that time the backlog far out paste the amount of people available to work those cases When everything opens back up the process of setting up all of those trials, evidence, gathering, etc. has to be restarted which takes time so the numbers reflect that process what she’s explaining is that since she took over they have been completing that process at an accelerated rate, and while there is still a backlog, it is significantly lessthan what it was when she got there

      @@ReporterAndy the reason is because you took the information of the commissioner hook line and sinker instead of verifying those information from publicly available information as mentioned by the DA. For instance you could have compared before FW and after she took office so you get a perspective of her performance. You could have provided context on what she might have done right , wrong, or needs improvement. Bottom line a good journalist is thorough in understanding both sides of the aisle, meaning the commissioners perspective and the DA perspective based on research data before plunging into that interview.

      She is definitely on top of things. I LOVE that her first response was to say the person being quoted was ignorant -- as in, did not know what was really happening. That said, I would have liked to hear her say that even one person sitting in jail for 91 days without being indicted is unacceptable. Personally, I'd rather 100 non-violent criminals go free than to have one innocent person locked up. In the last 30 years, over 200 people (4%) who were on death row were released with charges dismissed because advances in evidence proved they were not guilty. That's 1 in every 25 on death row. Not every state has the death penalty and those are the cases the Innocence Project mainly works. In Texas, that was roughly 11% of those sentenced to die in that time frame. That's more than 1 in every 10 on death row. That is absolutely horrifying.

    • @Littlemagpie2487
      @Littlemagpie2487 Рік тому +6

      @@B_Bodziak I couldn’t agree more. I’m from the uk and we no longer have the death penalty. I have to say I’m relieved about that. Especially when I see statistics like those you have quoted. I think I would also be concerned about how unequally it is applied as the majority of those on death row are from minority backgrounds or from very poor white working class backgrounds. There’s not an awful lot of evidence that it’s effective as a deterrent against violent crime.

    • @B_Bodziak
      @B_Bodziak Рік тому +2

      @@Littlemagpie2487 You're absolutely right. The death penalty and lengthy prison terms have been shown to be effective crime deterrents in the US. One huge difference in the US's various state prison systems and those in most EU countries is there are almost no rehabilitation programs in the US. When young adults, including 16/17yo, commit a felony in the US, it haunts the rest of their lives. Most of us have committed at least one criminal act as a young adult, but we were just fortunate not to get caught. I remember at 19yo, my college roommate and I stole an enormous potted plant from someone's front porch on a dare. We were just lucky enough not to get caught. Afterwards, we both received doctoral degrees (medicine & law). Had we been caught and charged appropriately, our lives would likely be different.

    • @Littlemagpie2487
      @Littlemagpie2487 Рік тому +3

      @@B_Bodziak I have taught criminology for many years and I used to use your example when we first discussed what a crime was. “Something that breaks the laws of the land” and then what a criminal is “someone caught breaking the law of a given society and is sentenced”. So many student had their eyes opened when they realise everyone has broken the law at some point but not everyone is caught and processed by the criminal justice system . I always wondered why the US gave such ridiculously long sentences when they offer no incentive for offenders to behave, not commit further crimes in prison, particularly if there is no hope they’ll one day get released. Long sentences like that can, in some circumstances, actually incentivise criminals to commit worse crimes as they might as well make sure there are no surviving victims or witnesses to testify against them if they are already looking at 100+ years in prison for their crime.
