The bowl is beautiful and looks like one you would use for special holidays like Christmas. I loved the way you looked at the camera with everything all over your face and goggles!
Beautiful bowl. I’m just curious, the blank that goes into the pressure pot is not the same one that comes out, why did you have to change technique? You added a wood plug instead of the plastic container you started with, why?
Hello. Thank you for your comment. I have to pour two times and i did't record that. Second time i remove plastic container and i add round wood that i can easy remove with turning. This way i also decidet because it is easy to add tail stock to bowl blank. Back then I didn't have the big lathe that I have now and the length of the tail stock was 60mm. on the new lathe, I have a length of 120 mm
Absolutely gorgeous. Did you dye the pine combs? What's the reason for pressurizing the resin mold, to eliminate air voids/bubbles so that it's completely solid ?
@@Pipejawood-Woodturning at 6:33 you are applying something from a small bottle that makes the pine combs pop out very nicely (super glue ?), and then spray something over the area from a spray can.
I assume you placed the wood into the center before letting the resin cure? Is the bowl you poured resin into have to be pliable, or will a hard-plastic or metal bowl work?
@@Pipejawood-Woodturning Does the epoxy resin not stick to the walls of the hard plastic; is it easy to remove the resin from the container? Did you need to coat the wood with anything special before placing the core into the resin, or does it create a very strong bond?
@PipejaWood Woodturning thank you so much for answering all of my questions. If you can't tell I'm extremely intrigued by this and am excited to try it out myself (just waiting for tools to arrive ). I'm a little confused by the air compressor though. Is that to help in removal after it's cured?
The look of the pine cones is fantastic! I just wonder why you didn't go "all cones" and threw in all those random chunks of wood. Just my humble opinion, but I think they detract from an otherwise great bowl.
Hi THERE.. THE BOWL IS GREAT LIKE IT ALOT......SIR WILL YOU PLEASE TAKE MORE CARE WITH YOU FIGURES SO CLOSE TO THE BLADE.... IF ANY BITS JAM ON THE SIDE OF THE BLADE AS YOU ARE PUSHING A CONE OR A SMALL LUMP OF WOOD ACROSS THE BLADE IT WILL TURN YOUR HAND ONTO THE BLADE.... Thank you for your comment. Yes i dry the pine cones. If i will not use preshure pot there will be many bubbles in resin
@@Pipejawood-Woodturning
What type of dye did you use and what did you spray over it?
What do you think with dye? Do you mean drying?
And you mean spraying after glue?

Yes i placed wood in the center. Hard plastic is good and metal no

From plastic you can remove resin but from metal you will not remove
You can also help with airCompressor to blow air in the wall of bucket. I also make smal hole in the bottom and blow air in the hole

Thanks. This time i decided that i make pine cones with junk wood. Next time i will make bowl only with pine cones 😉
The angular bits of wood really distract from the natural shape of the pine cones.
