Spring whale watching with Merimbula Marina | Sapphire Coast NSW | Start Feeling It

Merimbula Marina is located in Merimbula on the NSW Sapphire Coast, home to Australia's coastal wilderness halfway between Melbourne and Sydney and just 3hrs from Canberra.

Merimbula Marina offer regular whale watching cruises from August through to November. Humpbacks can be sighted on their Northern Migration May through to July, however, it is their Southern Migration when the fun really begins. Many other sea creatures are seen on our cruises, including Common & Bottlenose Dolphins, Australian Fur Seals, penguins, flying fish, sunfish, turtles and many species of sea birds.
The pristine waters off Merimbula on NSW’s Sapphire Coast are the perfect place for whale watching. Many species of whales can be sighted throughout the year including Humpbacks, Southern Rights, Minke, Bryde’s, Blue and Orcas whales.
Merimbula is a wonderful place to view whales from. It is only a very short (8 minute) cruise out into the Merimbula Bay and from this point whales can be found! In the waters of the Sapphire Coast they can be seen lateral lunge feeding, one of the few places in the world where humpbacks can be observed doing this!! A sight not to be missed!! Mothers and their young calves also provide hours of entertainment as they play in the Merimbula Bay.
Merimbula Marina has been owned and operated by Simon and Jessica Millar since 2008.
"Whale watching is our passion and in addition to Merimbula we also operate whale watching cruises from Darling Harbour, Sydney for 6 months of the year. We believe in responsible and respectful whale watching practices.
As a smaller company we have a strong focus upon customer service from the point of booking to the time we say goodbye after your cruise.
Simon worked for the business for five years before purchasing it in 2008. On most cruises he will be your skipper. Whale watching is his passion and he just loves being out on the ocean. Jessica and our two young sons are also whale and ocean enthusiasts. Call the office and they will assist you with your booking. They can also be regularly found up on the headland spotting whales for our whale watching cruises.
Our other Skipper Glenn grew up in Merimbula. As a local he knows all the best fishing spots and has been driving both whale watching and fishing boats for over 16 years.
Our whale watching crew are all whale and ocean lovers and will do all that they can to ensure your whale watching experience is a good one. We are committed to ensuring that our time spent with the whales does not negatively impact them and provides you with a positive and meaningful experience. Our skippers adhere to whale watching industry best practice guidelines and because we watch whales and dolphins year round we have gained a very good understanding of these animals.
