The Roku Streambar would not allow me to access my local PBS station and wanted to charge me $5 monthly to access on-air local television in Washington, DC. Very disappointing! I returned my Roku Streambar to Best Buy, Roku, any thoughts to share?
Tip: To ensure that the Roku device only connects to the cleaner and faster 5GHz WiFi, create a guest network on the 5GHz band with a name like RokuTV. Then associate the Roku box only to this signal. Also, if you are or know someone who is tech savvy, put this guest signal in a restricted network so that if this Roku device is hacked, it cannot be used to hack all the other devices in the network. A VLAN is the best way to do it.
@Khaavren yes, plug a USB-to-Ethernet adapter into the Streambar. However, Google what particular adapter is compatible with the device. Both USB 2 and 3 work.
I have read that you can get the cable-box content (coming in on a separate HDMI cable) to have it's sound on the Streambar. Does that happen automatically with an HDMI ARC connection to the Roku Streambar?
Yes, your tv should connect automatically with HDMI ARC just make sure the CEC setting is turned on in your tv settings and make sure it’s the correct audio source from the TV which is ARC and not the tv speaker
