- Fish feed is a very important aspects of aquaculture. This video answers the question on "How many bags of feeds a farmer needs to buy to rear 1000 fishes to table size from fingerlings stage or Juvenile stage. The total numbers of bags is 68 to 75 bags in four months and the numbers of bags per MM is analyzed . Enjoy , watch and share.

I know of a lady in Abuja who spent less 200k to feed her 1000 Catfish for four months to table size and made a profit of 420k. Her breakdown is thus: Coppens 1.8mm 5kg for i month, Aller qua 2mm 15 kg for 3weeks, Aller qua 3mm for a month, Aller qua 4mm for 2weeks and finishes with Blue crown 6mm. I am currently trying out her method.

If the lady will be sincere with you, she will tell you the year she did that which must be 5 years ago or more.PRESENTLY , ITS NOT POSSIBLE. I don't sweet talk people into the business. I tell people the truth about the profit and loss. That is why my channel is live of what i am doing myself; I don't even do digital editing. As of Nigeria of today, 15kg of 1.8mm of Skretting is 27k + everywhere right now , one rubber of coppens is 13k etc, bluecrown is 9k + etc... So do the mathe sir. @@goafarm A lady shared this knowledge in forum i belong to on June 14th 2022. At first her posts caused a a serious outrage in the forum and was debated for about 3 days. She was vilified and insulted by almost everyone in the forum including the most experience catfish farmers in the forum. But at the end of the day she was able to convinced some us with evidence. Now many of us in the forum including me are now trying out her method to see if it is possible. She said her last harvest of May 2022 was raised with less than 200k. She was talking of May this year not 5yrs ago. Many people from the forum visited her farm to how she feed, how she changes water etc so as to tap into her knowledge. For me i stocked 1000 fishies six weeks ago and following her method, so far my fishes have only consumed 5kg of coppens and 3/4 of 15kg aller qua 2mm. My fishes are doing well and i do not see much different from their sizes compared to the corresponding coppens 20kg and 60kg aller qua 2mm i feed them during my last stock in January. I know they will start eating properly after two months and I am ready to see this my new method to the end. What i have realised so far is that good water management is far important to the fishes than the feed. I will keep the posted as things pan out.
@@seentv1 Yes... I have told people that good water management, good spacing and proper feeding are the backbone of good result. But the truth is 200k can't feed fish to table size... 200k can't buy more than 20bags of 15kg... 20 bags can't give you 1kg unless half of somebody's fish dies.... Even at your 1 months now , I am sure you have spent over 50k .... So please keep the proper record and reach out to the lady to keep guiding you, so sh won't say it's something or others that went wrong. I will await your response come October
For my 1500 fishes, they haven’t still finished their first bag. Despite the fact they’re eating well. I’m surprised why my fishes are still struggling to finish their 2mm feed in one month. I record mortality every single day of about 15 to 45 per day
Then check ur water, bring the fish out, then wash ur tank with salt

With alternative feeds such as maggot, chicken intestine etc you will still use 35 bags.... But without banking on any alternative feeds. Just relying on Feeds alone z you will need 65-70 bags....

Please, I want to understand how to sell catfish to the middle men, so as to avoid cheated?
What if I have 500g to 800g, how would I sell this as kilogram?
I understand once your fish is 1 kg plus, what about once that are not up to 1 kg?

Does small fish has its own price for kilogram or they are just same price as body weight of 1 kg?
Fishes of less than 1kg are categorized as smoke size or small size. So their kg price is different from big fish price. Currently, I am aware it's 1k...So the best is to first visit the market and price small size . This will give u a clue of how much they are selling to direct clients and you will decide how much to sell to them.

One bag is okay then you proceed to 2mm

How old are they? If they are big you are doing well.
You are right bro. I stocked 600 fishes and after a month they only consumed about 10kg of 15kg bag. They were juveniles
