We so quick to talk about EA but dismiss a small company that's trying to make a good football game.
Nobody is dismissing them. There is a standard for a football game. If your offering isn't up to that standard, then that's just the fact of the matter. Nobody is saying they can't do it, we're just saying it clearly isn't there yet in a number of ways, and this is what they really need to fix if they want it to get there.
Nobody can play this game right now and honestly say that it is a good game. My honest impression is that I can see their vision in this game, I hope they are honest in what they are saying and that they can actually follow through. One thing that stuck out with me in an interview one of the main Dev's did on YT, the interviewer was talking about a Coach Mode being added, and some other features people were asking about, and the Dev literally said that some of those things would be easy things to do, but his main focus was to get the game online and having people playing the game competitively online. To me that is a red flag, because they want that to be a big thing for their version of MUT mode. Like, they have a lot of under the hood things they need to get working, but their focus is to get the current game online....
@@eduardopena5893 You are the ultimate Ryan Moody "rider". Get some self respect my brother.
@@OnTheFieldFB I am not riding anything, so step off on that nonsense, or should I just cal you the ultimate Maximum Football Dev team rider? Maybe it is you that should get some self-respect, and I am not your brother.
I just love how when somebody dares to criticize something, you all that are just slobbering all over the product dismiss it outright as hate. There is NOTHING Ryan Moody said that IS NOT TRUE about the game as it is. Nothing. He is holding it up to the same standard as he's held Madden to. That is fair. He is pointing out what the game is like right now. Not what you all think it might be based on what you think the Devs are telling you. When they ACTUALLY fix the bugs, fix the animations, add in all the things that are missing to make it even be an acceptable football game (you know, like extremely common plays like playaction, screens, and I don't know, one of the most popular college football offenses since this is a college based game, the option plays) THEN that is when praises can be sung about it.
Right now it is an incomplete game with poor player movement, poor AI, a horrid UI, and braindead AI, with numerous bugs and glitches. If you want to give them money for it, you go right ahead. But don't sit there and try to tell me this early access game is good. It isn't. And don't go blaming the reviewers. Modus is the one that decided to put this out there as their first big impression to us. My impression is, it is lackluster and needs a whole lot of work to get to where it needs to be.
@@eduardopena5893 I agree & as an old-school gamer who's priority is offline single-player, good gameplay & graphics focusing on online isn't gonna cut it. What if my dad's late on our internet bill? Can't play Maximum FB offline the same w/Genshin Impact. BOTH games are live service.
@@ATPHardenedGamerOtaku1990 Well, when I started gaming, offline was the only way to play. Even when games went online, I wasn't a huge fan of co-op or competitive play. It can be fun in doses. I liked playing a game called Crossout quite a bit because you can completely design and build pretty much whatever you want to.
As for sports games, it doesn't matter what sport it is, even if it is one that I don't particularly follow, play, or even know much about, I always gravitate to dynasty/franchise mode, select the worst team, and try to rebuild it into a champion through drafting and developing players. If Maximum can implement their college, pro, and CFL leagues into the game and have them all running together in one universe, that would be a HUGE draw to me. That kind of depth has never been done before. Create a stadium would be huge. They already have their custom team suite looking and working very well. They also have to really get after the gameplay, and to me, that's the biggest task of all.
My opinion is they have until console launch.
Early access PC gamers will support but the moment it hits a mainstream gamer audience on next gen consoles will be the moment of truth.
Not gonna lie, it was kind of hard to fully understand your gripe here. It wasn't clear what exactly you're trying to call attention to to me.
He just has a disdain for the game but won't publicly admit it. He's got an open door to make this game better but chooses not to and advocates for others not to, which is essentially wanting the game to fail when you tell others to not hop in a discord chat where the devs communicate with you within minutes.
This is the same exact game from before - to a T.
@@capamerica13 Not what I said at all - the point was telling people to join a discord if they want information is a poor tactic. Find me another game that operates that way, Ill wait.
No, it's not it is not the same game. You always hate on everything bro give it time@@RyanMoody21
@@RyanMoody21 I think it's honestly innovative and shows openness in willing to adapt your game to community feedback and requests
I'm not buying madden ever again I'm a support @maximum football and plus console players will get the best version of this game!
I was born in 98 so I never got to play any of the good football games from the 2000s. My first Madden was Madden 25 in 2013 then Madden 20 and I've never played another one since. I've had Maximum football on my PS5 wishlist ever since I saw news about it
@@jordancarroll1217 Madden 20 was the last Madden game I will ever buy and play. The game was completely broken, and on top of that, I bought it on PC through Origin. Nowhere did they tell me this was a limited time purchase. A couple of years ago, Origin removed the game from their library. This is a problem, because in order to play the game, the game HAS to make a server handshake with Origin. It can no longer do that. So even though I have ALL of the files on my PC, all my offline Dynasty Mode saves on my PC, I can't play the game ever again because it simply can't say hello to the Origin server.
What is EA's response to this? Go and buy a full version of the game from your favorite local retailer.
What? I already BOUGHT THE FULL VERSION of this game for PC. Nobody sells the PC version of the game anymore because it is no longer playable because of this server issue. So what you are really telling me to do is to go out and buy the console version of the game, because apparently for some reason it doesn't need a server handshake to play. Well, slight issue here, why would I buy the PC version if I HAD A CONSOLE TO PLAY IT ON?
This game has a decent foundation, alot more improvements to go!
Its literately the same foundation from before and its shown on this play.
This is why EA will never change this video right here people like you bashing a game in its early cycle
First time here?
They've made many Maximum Football games, so that early access argument is weak.
I actually enjoy maximum, its early access
Name specifically what you enjoy about it.
@@eduardopena5893 errthing
@@eduardopena5893They can't 😂
@eduardopena5893 i enjoy its not madden, I like how old school it feels, there's some issues I feel about the catching. But overall all, I like the jankyness. It's also early access so long as it works im fine. I enjoy the customization, and the dynasty mode is pretty cool, no this game doesn't beat ncaa25 but the budget isn't even close to that. Stop bitching about a free early access game it makes no sense to hate a free game. If you account for the amount of entertainment per dollar, it's a pretty good deal. stop holding games so high especially if free
@@ChickenNuggetDino Criticizing a game is not "bitching" about it. There is no "hate" on this game. It is simply looking at what they delivered and stating what it is. If that bothers you, then your problem isn't with me, it is with the game for it not being better than it is.
Again, "it being not Madden," is not a selling feature. It "feels old school," no, it feels old, period. Like the old Maximum Football games. There are plenty of issues beyond just the catching. This is a game that was delayed 3 years, so this is "late access."
This game always had a big customization suite in it. Yes, it is nice to have. That's about the biggest factor in its favor right now. The dynasty mode is nothing special. It is nothing that I haven't seen before, and haven't seen done better in the past.
I don't care what their budget is, THEY decided to enter the marketplace. That is the standard. They are not up to that standard. That's simply the truth.
Lots of things are free, it doesn't mean they are good.
this is early access lets all keep it in perspective.
And the perspective is, it needs A LOT more work. What are people failing to understand here?
@eduardopena5893 bro commenting under everything lmao, it's early access calm down
Guys remember it’s an indie game with a very small budget give them a break , it’s going to take time
@@RichardParker-x2e No, it isn't. Modus is a game company that has been around for years and they have an extensive game library. The paid the original owner of Maximum Football a pretty tidy sum for the rights to it, so they have money. They also hired not one, but TWO game development studios to work on this game. Stop spreading this false narrative.
@@ChickenNuggetDino Because a lot of people are commenting nonsense, and I am here to deliver the truth.
Honestly if the customization had an option to either do modding like Axis or uploading textures like WWE2K or PES that'd make cosmetic accuracy better.
As a football fan I thought this play was really good. Of course this won’t be on par with the beat of football video gaming. For what this game is now is outstanding but far from perfect
Outstanding is far too high of a praise for anything this game has to offer in its current state. It needs A LOT of work.
You're just seeing what you want to see man. The game is very janky and rough. I played for 5 minutes and blocked AI punts 3 times in a row. The animations are way too snappy and jarring. Just tons of bugs and immersion killing elements to the game.
@@MrCheques90 I had back to back tames where my return man ran back 2 punts for TDs and then 3 punts for TDs. He ran one back 90+yards. At the end of the game it said he had 5 returns for a total of 37 yrads. Then on the season stats, it doesn't even credit him for a single return. I have had my team block several punts in a game, too.
It makes me wonder if these people are actually playing the games, or if they are just fast simming them all?
Something else I am seeing is that if your DL gets blocked for a certain amount of time, they all get pancaked by the OL all at the same time.
Madden is trash too
And maybe a different player has a better pursuit rating to take better angles
As much as I hate the current Madden games, they are still better than this game is right now, and it isn't even close. Modus has a long way to go to get there.
@@eduardopena5893 Agreed, I also vehemently hate EA, but Madden is objectively the best sim game on the market right now. It sucks that its true, because the game sucks, but all these other "indie" games are so much worse. People just want something different than Madden so they put blinders on and call games like this "outstanding"
@@MrCheques90 A game that is going to try to compete in Madden's marketplace simply just can't have its main feature being, "It isn't Madden." That's just not good enough. It actually has to be better than Madden is. That doesn't seem to be too high of a bar, because Madden does so many things wrong. But, this game is not even as good as Madden is right now. That doesn't mean I am going to run out and buy a Madden game, because that ship sailed years ago.
@@eduardopena5893 agreed 100%
@ thats sad because current madden is unplayable i still play 2016
I give this game 20 years to be on the same level as ESPN NFL 2K5 & APF 2K8 gameplay-wise if they plan on releasing this on consoles next year.
I bought the legendary addition with little to no expectation that I’ll pick it up again anytime soon. I’m really just throwing my $40 at a hope that it’s eventually good
I will give them money when they prove they can deliver. This isn't some starving 1-3 person indie dev team. This is a gaming company that has been around for years and has an extensive gaming library under their belts.
@@eduardopena5893 its 10 people lol
I don't throw money away on hopes unless it's investments that will possibly give me money back.
The good news is David said when there's issues with the game they can fix it right away!
Im hopeful about this game, but boy right now it is ROUGH. And it's not like their first time ever making a football game, there are several iterations of maximum football and they're all pretty bad so the early access argument doesn't really get anywhere with me.
The gameplay, the same thing everyone dunks on EA for, wasn't delivered. Discord or not, there's only so much they can patch at this point and what they do manage to patch will take an eternity. People want this game to be good (it isn't) for all the bells and whistles it has and for the soft spot they have for small indy devs... that's the hill they'll die on.
the 3 issues it has is not a hard patch. clock management in last 2 mins, adjust pass completion, esp pass under 10 yds, and specific plays, not the generic plays in the game. crazy they didn't have the testers do that. that would be catelog of 300 well designed plays.
This isn't a small, indie dev team. I don't know why people keep calling it that. They are a gaming company that have been around for years and have an extensive game library. Do you know what they PAID the original creator of MF in order to get the rights? They have money.
How about show the same play vs a different defense. Different result.
As long as they ain't charging full price for full release beta
This current game is an alpha build at best.
there's no way ryanmoody and goblin is the same person
Atleast ryan didn’t get too see Clint recent interview…. 😂
Ryan ''Truthsayer'' Moody
I think we need to stop comparing this game to Madden. Madden has years of development over this game. Not giving EA any type of credit whatsoever because they have failed us over the last decade. I’m just sayin give this game a clean opportunity to improve
theyve had years too there are several iterations of maximum football and they're all pretty bad
They entered Madden's marketplace. That is their comparison whether they, or you, like it or not. They are the ones that decided to do this. I am willing to give them some benefit of the doubt, but this game isn't even up to snuff for a PS1 era football game with the amount of things it is missing. Basic plays, penalties, coaching challenges...and much, much more.
I have to admit, this game was much improved from the beta... Felt a lot better.
However, it's got some major issues. No difficulty levels is insane... The absolutely laughably barebones playbooks is a big issue.
I think it has a small chance to garner a following, but it's gonna be really tough. Let's be honest, free or not, they have an nearly insurmountable uphill battle to becoming anything more than a niche game for the small crowd who say they are "done with Madden" and actually mean it. They need to nail this early access, or it's gonna be over. They are banking hard on their MUT clone, but I don't see how that works without recognizable players... I guess time will tell
I sincerely mean I am done with Madden. 20 was my last one ever. That doesn't mean I am going to accept a bunch of crap and call it a great game only because it isn't Madden. This game has to meet a standard, and from what I see so far, it is far away from that.
I also see a huge focus on their MUT mode, something that was never announced as far as I know, and something that very much bothers me. They should not be trying to hype up and hyper focus on a competitive, online, MUT mode with the game in this current state. There is A LOT of work to be done elsewhere. I wasn't coming to Maximum to play a MUT mode. I came here for the potential of a College and Pro game that has an interactive universe between the two leagues. It currently doesn't have that, and I don't know if when the pro league does come out, that it will interact with the college one. The game is missing some very basic things that a football game in this current era MUST have. Heck, slow motion instant replays from the pause menu were something games had back in the 2000's. This game doesn't have it. No challenges on plays. I mean, there's a lot. The UI needs a massive overhaul, especially if they want this game to succeed on console. It is already nerve-wracking with a mouse and keyboard.
My Cincinnati Bengals could learn something from these animations about how to push somebody out of bounds!!
I remember old Maximum Football (2005?). That got me into CFL ball back in 2008.
It just has 3 issues for the 1st release in my opinion should have been done. Pass completion % is too low. The collegiate stats are there. Maybe some of their programmers don't understand clock management in last 2 mins or a team with lead running the ball to run out clock. This is not a big coding issue. They should have had the beta testers design specific plays for books. This is an issue with all football games out the box. These 3 fixers are one easy patch. if the logic is there we can build the specific team catelog of plays to make it play stats wise accurate. It already can manage a 15 min clock CPU v CPU and run about 145-170max plays which is about norm in college games. We shall see. If we could build the VpNFL with FBPR
O98 the same can be done with this game. I'm so far testing it three seasons into dynasty.
They rebuild the game but they have to start somewhere. To bash the game now when they haven't built the game all the way out yet is jumping the gun.
He is criticizing the game, not "bashing it." He is saying, "Here is a problem, this needs to be corrected if you want this game to be good."
What is wrong with that?

Maximum Football could be a challenge to EA because Maximum Entertainment won't be making us buy a game every year. This game will be a ten year game and they will be making updates whenever they can and Maximum Entertainment will improve this game every patch plus Madden isn't going to be able to touch Maximum Football. I will buy Madden 25 and College football 25 and that's it for me, after Maximum Football comes out, I am going to use Maximum Football and College football and Madden to make a storyline. EA stopped letting us create teams for a while but Maximum Football is a big sandbox where we can make any team, jerseys, players, and we can import our college football players to the professional league and draft them on your team
And you know this based on what?
@eduardopena5893 Micah even said it that Maximum Football won't be making games every year. He said that he and the team will be updating the game plus there are a lot of things that people want in the game so it will take years for them to put them in maybe but when they put everything in game, it can last a while. Indie games can last a while because they don't have the licensing of the NFL so we can have more fun with it than anything
@@Lakymgoode Who is Micah, and why should I care or believe what Micah says? I don't care what people say, I care what they do.
This is NOT an "indie" game. Modus is a game developer that has been around for years, have an extensive game library, and has plenty of money behind it.
Right now, this game is not a challenge to EA. It needs a ton of work to even get to that level. I am hopeful that they will do the work, because I am never buying an EA product again. I love the idea behind this game, but, that's all it is right now.
@eduardopena5893 Micah is the game developer from Maximum Entertainment. This game could last a while. They will be releasing the Preview of the game for Xbox players on December 10th so this is a step ahead and EA will have to wonder what to do.
@@Lakymgoode EA is not worried at all about this game. It has no reason to be. If Micah is who I think he is, then he is the one that replied to a question of when fans can expect certain features that are missing, he replied with, "Well, that would be easy to do, but right now we're focused on getting this game online for competitive online play." Then when the interviewer asked again, because he didn't get the answer, the guy answered essentially the same way, the focus, is CLEARLY to get the game online.
Why? The game needs a whole bunch of work on the core game. It doesn't even have screen passes, playaction passes, option plays, coach's challenges, onsides kicks, pause menu instant replays, penalties, etc. The player movement is bad, the user interface is bad. But instead of fixing any of that, or put in features that are missing, they want online play for their MUT mode. The same thing you all hate Madden for, forsaking the core game to focus on MUT.
How does a gaming company get around having NFL mods? I understand it's coming from the community, but?
because once someone has a game in their library they can technically mod whatever they want as long as it isn’t cheating
Whats the point of this guys youtube channel? Guy just spreads negativity and complaints. Not saying he shouldn't point them out but EVERY VID!
Every vid its some tiny thing he shows and makes an entire vid about it. Its what youtubes become now, just negative channels of complaints and bitching.
You are complaining about complaining. Why even comment?
@MrCheques90 tell youtube to stop recommending these negative channels than.
Valid criticism isn't negativity. I have had 8 days playing this game in MUT mode and in Dynasty, and it just isn't very good.
Ryan, give the game time to iron out things. It is not finished yet.
But, they want money for it.
Right now this game is running on hope, wish, and potential.
It isn't a very good, basic football game. It is missing way too many things for it to even be considered that. I don't care about the graphics. They are acceptable to me, so long as everything else is there that I am looking for. Heck, I am still playing PS2 era football games because they at least give me the experience I am looking for. Just a bullet point for what it doesn't have:
- Play action passes: This is a serious no-no. This is a basic, fundamental play to football at the college and pro levels.
- Screen passes: See above
- Option plays: How in the WORLD is this NOT in a College football game. This is literally one of the most widely used college offenses around.
- No replay function: You can't pause the game and look at a play in slow motion to see what exactly happened.
- No challenges: Don't think you actually fumbled? Too bad, you can't challenge it.
- A good User Interface: This is the most non-intuitive, clunkiest thing I think I've ever seen, and I've playd HC06 and HC09.
People WANT this game to be good. Hell, I HOPE AND PRAY they get it there. I want a modern game I can say is my go to Football game, because Madden sure as Hell isn't it.
I LOVE the idea of having a Dynasty mode and Pro League mode in the same game and in the same universe, with also the possibility of a CFL coming to join that universe. If they put them all in the game and they all tie in together, that is a HUGE plus in my book.
U can take the name off of the front jersey. This is what i do.
The game is not bad tbh I am having fun
I understand the complaint only time will tell. It’s very hard to make a simulation sport game. Still that’s no excuse for madden madden and ea is horrible and my main complaint isn’t even the game play I have fun with the gameplay sure there’s major issues that are frustrating but it can be fun for me my main complaint is lack of depth and simulation features. I want a franchise mode to simulate football. I feel like they will fix gameplay I feel like it will improve I just hope they have enough money to improve it and I hope people can look past polish and give the game a chance. Honestly polish is cool and makes a game more immersive but I can get past that if the game logic is good. Hopefully there will be a big difference between good qbs and bad qbs hopefully they fix balancing issues and keep improving can’t wait for console release!
