the commoner suga here is basically challenging the king suga. they planned a coup with the butchers, you can see in one part of the video where he's making an eye contact with the butchers. he made himself a bait for the mad king but did an uno reverse card.
This is Suga's own solo side project (using his name as Agust D) with his own budget and released to fans for free. He created from music to mv production, all his concept and idea. He incorporated modern day instruments with Korean traditional instruments .
This MV has a lot of Korean history references, better watch MV explained. DKDKTV explained quite well (youtubers are Korean). Daechwita means marching, marching for arrival of king or military march for war, so it implies ADUST D is king but might also the ARMY make him the King. (The gun is named ARMY).
Agreed. It is The Best! Concept. The new Agust D kills the old Agust D. Before he wanted clothes cars, fame, and all material things. Now his time is the most valuable thing to him. His feet are on the ground now. It has deep meaning. I am not into rap. This is the Most Brilliant rap. The flow. The phrasing. The words. The tempo. It's Didge uh tah... not twa. The oriental instruments are played in a parade to let the people know the King is on the way. Guess who is the King? The new Agust D grown up. Mature. Understands what life is all about. Hint. The butcher in the first scene is the executioner. He plots to kill the old king with Suga. The pill poppers are the haters, street underground rappers who hated him from Day one for becoming an idol. You are right. It is the coolest, most beautiful cinematography, amazing movie video ever!!!! BTS has The Most Brilliant talented members of any group who can excel as the #1 group or be #1 in their own individual talent. Other example J-Hope's genius Jack in the Box album, More MV, Arson MV and concert at Lollapalooza! Who's next? RM's solo work. These guys can't be stopped!
Korean traditional military music, Daechwita (大吹打) Daechwita is a music that was used as an accompaniment when the king came or the army marched in the Joseon Dynasty. The name of the last gun that Suga shot was "Army" Colt army model 1860 Ps:The name ‘Agust D’ is the reverse of ‘DT Suga’ written in the lyrics. DT refers to Suga's hometown, Daegu, that is, D Town. He used the nickname "Suga" abbreviated as "Suga" as he was a basketball shooting guard. SUGA, not sugar
Jim, great reaction - you should watch the shooting sketch. SUGA talks about the process a lot, I think you'd enjoy it. He had to learn that sword dance in two days, which is unheard of - there's a sword dance practice vid you can check out also.
The song is amazing prefect🔥 the visual.. the story talen.. the lirick.. the beat.. the flow.. the everything awesome ..incredible .. suga is genius.. he got unique voice.. the best producer.. songwriter.. composer.. masterpiece.. multitalented.. fast rapper.. king swag.. king of stage.. love suga so much 🥰😍💜
Suga is a deep thinker. May also have to listen to his other song on d2 album. All mindblowing. Try people, moonlight, strange feat rm (all lyric video ofc)
I think the King represents Yoongi's past self (or the person he fears he could become) who is drunk on greed and success, and now a tyrant to those around him. (Notice how the King becomes more unhinged as the video progresses). Since BTS debuted, Yoongi was always very open about his desire for success, wealth, and status -- It's all throughout his lyrics. His family didn't have a lot growing up so I'm sure these dreams meant a lot to him in his trainee and early debut days. I think the lower-class rebel Yoongi represents his present self who realizes how dangerous his greed is becoming, which is why he chooses to kill the King in the end of this story (in a coup planned together with the butcher). The lyrics in the bridge sum up the main theme of this song really well: I got everything I ever wanted What more'll make me feel contented I wanted clothes clothes Then money money Then goal goal Now what's next Yeah, what's next Here comes my reality check There's nowhere higher I only looked up and now I wan to look down And put my feet on the ground. There are so many layers to this song: The historical references, the dis/flex track aspects, Yoongi's own rags to riches story, etc. There is so much to unpack it could honestly be made into a book, lol.
Whenever I find a new reaction to this video, I can’t click fast enough! There is a behind the scenes of the making of it which is interesting and fun to watch. Also, the whole group performed this (with some very humorous parts) in the Sowoozoo concert done during Covid. By the way, I’m a 70+ female Army going on five years.
Finally! This is exactly what I've been waiting for! Thanks for the reaction to this song. "First love"& "Daechwita" is my fav AgustD's song . I love your curiosity, your honest responses, and your sense of humor!
Hi, i am back. Great reaction, ty. So glad you loved the MV and song. This is my fav of his. Suga kills it every time. The autotune is sick in this. Love it. Suga is my wrecker. The live version didn’t have an in-person audience but it was live streamed to 1.33 million people around the world. Hugs. -2019 ARMY NY USA 💜 Like Renee Zemlock said on 12.20.20; Daechwita was the traditional music played to let people know when the King or the royal military was coming through. Yoongi has said that the King represents his past self, the greedy selfish part of who he used to be, and the peasant is his more humble present self. Also, the butcher in the beginning is also the executioner; their look exchanged at the beginning of the vid was them plotting the betrayal and execution of the King. Also, the antique gun he used to shoot the King.... is legitimately called Army. =0)
I love to watch reactors reacting to this for the first time. It's so dramatic and full of inferences which you need to watch DKDKTV to find out about. It's shocking, dramatic and the set is incredible. SUGA is related to the last Queen of Korea but Jin and Taehyung are also from the royal Kim line. You need to watch the behind the scenes of this video and Yoongi practicing the sword routine. Also watch the Sowoozoo version that they did for FESTA 202. Did you notice the drawing of Bang PD? It's based on the one JK did of him.
I also love this Suga's solo... please react to the live performance of BTS on this song from their 2021 Muster. Both raplines and vocal lines sang it.
I think this whole song and Mv are just so complex and interwoven with Korean history and his own inner struggle. I think the way he used the traditional Daechwita music is just genius and so well done. Also he’s intense and intimidating as hell. Nothing quite like this one. I could discuss the song for a long time.
Yeah this is an awesome song/mv, definitely Agust D at his best. I still think 'First Love' is my favorite Suga song, but this one is right up there. There is a lot of traditional Korean influence and instruments in this. Yes there si a definite story going on... based on a historical king/tyrant. its great worth researching.

Korean traditional military music, Daechwita (大吹打)
Daechwita is a music that was used as an accompaniment when the king came or the army marched in the Joseon Dynasty.
The name of the last gun that Suga shot was "Army"
Colt army model 1860

Their is a video Daechwita explained by DKDK tv that helps explain this video .Their a bunch of references both culturally and BTS related.

I recommend the DKDK, explained by a Korean, breakdown of this song. The lyrics are brilliant, but as an American I couldn't understand them.

9:26 Deachwita means here comes the king.
It is played for high officials coming to meet high officials
11:38 the key 🔑 is coral and jade meaning he is from nobility too.
Because coral and jade are precious in Joseon era.
the gun is actually called something like army colt revolver

Nobility has a tendency to put people into carpets and beat them senseless.
It is a punitive consequence when someone behaves badly.

Yep, it's pronounced deh-chi-ta , released right as the pandemic was just starting to ramp up.
Is there anyone who dislike this masterpiece?👌 SUGA has his own way to capture our hearts
By the way, 3 members of BTS are descendants of royal line. SUGA, JIMIM among them.
I love your reactions!!💜
Thank you Jim, you should watch BTS member DAECHWITA LIVE Performance.
