I believe it, we had a feral cat called Jeremy in the neighbourhood who decided he owned the whole street, physically attacked other cats, broke into houses etc. It was taken away by the local animal protection people, admittedly not 100 miles, but it was to a sanctuary on the other side of a large city, he escaped from there and was back only 4 days later. He was an ugly bastard, covered in scars, bits of his ear missing and so on, I quite liked him.
There are dozens of stories about cats travelling hundreds of miles back home.
I moved house 48miles away my cat ran away from my new house and a week later the owners of my old house rang me up and told me my cat was in their kitchen
There was a study done in the UK that cats can find their home from over 80 miles away so I think it is true although I doubt they took it 100 miles away.
Yes they travel with ever increasing circles until they find their way.
Cats can travel for months to get back to their “home”. Cats have been known to travel well over 100 miles
I don't know what's so hard to believe, I mean it's more plausible than half of Bob Mortimer's true stories! 🤣😂
Dogs and cats are capable of the most incredible things ❤🐈🐕 More WILTY👌
Big Fat Quiz, Taskmaster, Russell Howard and don't forget The IT Crowd Outtakes 🧡
Wait a minute, isn’t this the same wilty episode where Lee is questioned about attending Harry’s wedding? You need to see that clip
We had a cat once that just disappeared. About a month later he was spotted in some old quarries a couple of miles away. My parents went there and tried to lure him back with food, but he refused to go near them, so they just left him food occasionally, and eventually he disappeared again. Four months after that I spotted him about half a mile away but I was told I’d imagined it. A week later he popped his head through the cat flap and made himself at home, where he stayed for another eight years. It’s not quite the same as this but an illustration of what cats sometimes do.
Had a cat a few years back, left it with a friend 3 miles away. It travelled to his new home in a cage on the car floor, to all intents, it was blindfolded. I still had a week at my home before leaving permanently, 3 days later the cat was back, and worst of all, it just increased my admiration and affection for it, making the return to it's new home even harder.
A similar thing happened to my mum, and her cats were being harassed by this black cat. It was feral, and it was moved over 20 miles away, but it was back within a few weeks. So it's not completely unbelievable to me.
The cat flap thing has happened to me too. A neighbours cat somehow always managed to get into my house and eat my cats food. He seemed to sense when battery was low or dead. I tried to always replace battery as soon as it got very low but the cat managed to find a way, even trying the windows and sometimes sit outside the door for quite a while. Moment the door opened he would run in.
He was really adorable though and quite sweet but so mischievous 😂
Cats are very interesting animals!
I think the RSPCA were BSing him the sanctuary was near his home 😊
Yep the rspca say 100miles but would only go 10 miles max
The RSPCA probably didn’t release the cat 100 miles away, they just told him that
cats have a great sense of direction and orientation AND territory.
cats (and dogs) have been proven to travel many many hundreds of miles to follow their owner, or relatives
People nuts need to watch “homeward bound bound” to know it’s true 😆
Mark Dennis - Dark Menace should have got a laugh
it's more impressive than funnny tho
True or not, I appreciate that collectively we have broken you to a stage 4 David Mitchell angry logic ranting mess. Your British passport is in the post. Don’t ask us about the weather
Trust me i have three cats they can travel for miles
Clearly you've never seen Homeward Bound. There's actually plenty of animals that have amazing direction sense, especially in the wild. It's possible his regular territory already included a fair amount of that distance.
But yes, as a massive Jurassic Park fan, my mind also instantly went to velociraptors when I heard this story. I was expecting them to say something about the attack coming not from the front, but from the side, from the other two cats he didn't even know were there.
I was thinking Homeward Bound as I was watching this clip, too.
if you don't believe this then your mind will explode with Bob Motimer
Yeah, cats are notorious for travelling back to where they consider to be home. It's one of the reasons you are advised to keep them indoors for a couple of weeks when you move house, to give them time to think of the new place as home. I agree it sounds nuts, but it it totally plausible!
This is correct, but even more true for kittens that are separated from their natural mother. The RSPCA or any Cat shelter will tell you that you should always keep a kitten indoors for the first 6 weeks, and after this, only let them outdoors on a lead. My ex-girlfriend didn't do this, and because she lived very close to a main road, her kitten escaped one day, and got run over. She still doesn't accept it was her fault.
Cats are occasionally lost when people move yo a different area and they turn up several months later. Amazing creatures.
My first thought is that the RSPC lied about the cat sanctuary 100 miles away....
also, cat's have been known to go much greater distances than a 100 miles to reunite with owners, so that in itself certainly doesn't make in impossible
Rory Read is a motoring journalist. He was one of the original cast in one of the ever failing Top Gear revivals after Clarkson was kicked off the show. In my opinion Rory was the best casting they've had so far, but he only survived one series (I think).
“Original cast in one of the ever failing Top Gear revivals”
What do you think “original cast” means?
@@jackabalas I put the context right there. Do you have an issue with reading?
@@stevemcmosh4271 I can read fine thanks but I can’t reconcile the nonsense you wrote because it doesn’t make any fkn sense. You can’t have multiple original casts of the same tv show. Do you have a problem comprehending the meaning of words?
@@jackabalas No drama, princess. It certainly won't be keeping me awake a second longer.
It's definitely plausible, cats and dogs both have extraordinary capabilities
He said they told him they would take it 100 miles away, but he never said he checked later if they had, merely that he believed them when they originally told him
Hey King Boomer.
The lady with the red hair is Diane Morgan.
You should check out her character Philomena Cunk
Mark Dennis was also a professional footballer for Birmingham City and QPR his nickname was Psycho and he was a headcase sent off 12 times in his career so quite an apt name
Yes it's true , I knew Mark Dennis he mugged me one night and stole my mars bar .
I bet the RSPCA just said the sanctuary thing to put his mind at ease, assuming it wouldn't go back to his house. They may have found a new home for it locally which could take a while - 6 months would make sense. Because he assumed they had actually sent it to another facility 100 miles away (whether or not he believed it after the cat had returned), he can get away with using it in his True statement. Could be wrong but I think that's my best guess 😄Love seeing more WILTY on here and the intros are bloody BRILLIANT 😂
Seeing as this cat was feral he would be very good at surviving in the wild, probably breaking into other houses for food and a comfy bed on his way back 😼
One of our cat had an accidental ride to the shopping centre about 7 miles away. (She had somehow been sleeping in a neighbours boot (trunk)) and escaped when they were opening the car at the supermarket. We assumed we'd never see her again. About 10 days later, about 5.00am she appeared, a bit the worse for wear, but otherwise fine. (There was now way she'd not eaten in this time, but she never told me how she got fed... She never revealed how she got back - whether she walked, or hitch-hiked, or caught the bus...
Any of my other Fellow Brits remember the cat that used to take a bus everyday to a certain pub where they all new him and then take the bus home again?
I was once walking home and saw my cat sat in the window of a neighbours house. I also had 2 of my cats at different times set of the pub next doors alarm during the night by opening fire doors. Cats are crazy which is why I like them.
I can believe it, I think they just didn't take it a hundred miles away and let it go locally
I really loved the confidence of your guess! 😂
Love the intro boomer, always glad to see more WILTY reactions! Keep it up mate
These are stout British cats we’re talking about here not your flea bitten American Moggies, or Cancun spoiled house cats, These are darkly menacing Mark Dennis cats
It's easilly true. That is Stray Male Cat behaviour.
Rather than spending money on 100 miles of fuel, (then 100 miles back I assume)
They probably just took it to the next Village and let it out after a check-up at the vets.
Can't remember if you've ever seen Bob Mortimer on WILTY . He's hilarious, but he might just take you over the edge !! As another correspondent said, as long as the basic story is told truthfully ( if they have a "true"story), it seems they can emellish smaller details within that story to a large extent. Not least Bob Mortimer, especially with his use of fictious, hilarious names for his alleged friends and other people in his stories !! 🤣🤣🤣
The people who had our house before we did moved 40 miles away and their cat found it's way back to our house twice.
Someone in the comments above said their cat walked 40 odd miles back to the house they'd just sold 🤔 😅
I said true from the start. Have you not seen the film The Incredible Journey (1961), by Scottish author Sheila Burnford, it's a children's book first published by Hodder & Stoughton, which tells the story of three pets as they travel 300 miles (480 km) through the Canadian wilderness searching for their beloved masters.

Rory Reid (born 12 October 1979) is an English television presenter and journalist. He specialises in motoring and technology and is known for hosting Top Gear, Extra Gear, Gadget Geeks and several web series.
It's rare but not unheard of for a cat to travel long distances to get home. Biggest risk would be getting run over, but if it's stray/feral then probably has some road sense.
The only threat to cats in these parts are other cats and dogs, cars, and an occasional badger.
Although they are reintroducing the lynx and possibly the wolf to Scotland.
If it had been Bob Mortimer telling this, you would not have questioned it for a second.
That Mark Dennis thing is something I'd definitely expect from a cat.
Have you not seen the documentary Incredible Journey? Mind you in that the cat was aided by a couple of dogs.
Every home needs a Mark Dennis
I had a period in my life where i was tormented by a Magpie, it would follow me, fly a little ahead and stop in my line of vision and do unmagpie like things like adopt strange poses and vogue etc etc so i knew it was the same Magpie.
Cats typically have an attachment to either it's feeders ("owners" - aka - servants 😁), or the area, territory it lives. Like if you move house and the Cats attachment is to you (family), it's likely the Cat won't leave. If the Cat attachment is to its territory, this is when people that have recently moved can loose there Cat, as they try to get to or get to there original territory.
Ha ha ! No more WILTY for you King Boomer !
Rory is a nice lad and a Top Gear presenter - unfortunately after the Clarkson/ Hammond/May trio left . WILTY is always entertaining and after working at a place with a feral cat population I wasn't in much doubt , they can be extremely tenacious and do exactly what they want . This was a great story and you would be the biggest of Muppets not to do more . Incidentally our biggest predator is the badger - they mainly eat worms.
Diane Morgan is looking tidy.
He Needs Some Cunk! History as he's never seen it LOL
Rory is a motoring journalist who was on Top Gear when Matt LeBlanc hosted it.
It's not unheard of, I mean, Puss in Boots stole a ship and set sail for the Kingdom of Far Far Away to visit "some old friends".
check-mate, king boomer!!
Cats have an uncanny ability to find their way back to their territory because they are incredibly territorial. I have heard of several cats doing this when their owners move house and they go back to the original property. One I heard of, in Switzerland, owned by an American lady who works for the UN, walked from Geneva to Zurich, which is 140 miles. Male cats fight for their territory and once it's established that they are the local Boss, they don't want to give that title up easily. They must have excellent navigation skills like migrating birds.
This is what i think happened. Mark Dennis had owners down the street. They reported him missing, so the vets returned him to the owners. So the cycle continues..
there was a cat that lived in my area when i was young that used to ride the bus. they can do some crazy things haha
Honestly it is true if you know cats, we kept a semi feral cat as a pet, we took it with us when we moved, after a few days of keeping her in we let it out to wonder, after a night it disappeared, two days later we went back to old address and found her sleeping in her old place in the barn, they must be like how on earth she knew her way back, who knows.
They navigate mostly by scent, and because their sense of smell is not only extremely sensitive, but also very advanced, compared to humans, it really isn't surprising. Their eyesight and hearing is also extremely advanced as well.
Noooo, more WILTY! Love these reactions
Cats are intelligent and they're tough, as far as i'm aware, as long as there isn't a significant body of water in the way, a cat can find it's way home from anywhere. Also look up cats keeping soldiers company during ww2, it's so cute 😂
Cats and crows, they keep grudges 😅
It is true!
You guys need to watch the young offenders! It's another irish show so you already know it's funny af
Have you never seen the iconic film Homeward Bound? Totally makes purrfect sense.
Cats can travel a crazy distance. I've heard of similar things several times.
Yeah I thik they just told him "oh yeah we gonna drive it 100 miles away" and then as soon as he was gone they let it go by the back door
We've got hardly any predators that will take out a cat. Also I don't believe they took it a hundred miles away, I think they just told him that to fob him off and make him feel relaxed that he was gone.
The apex predator in the UK is a badger so its definitely possible to travel back 100 miles
If you conceptualise it as the cat walking for miles and inadvertently wandering into a familiar neighbourhood, rather than deliberately trying to find its way back, it's not that farfetched. But yeah, "100 miles" seems like a figure of speech the RSPCA used rather than a factual statement.
You NEED to watch the rest of not going out. The first season isn’t the best but it’s really worth a watch
Cats can find their way back from hundreds of miles, its not unheard of. And to be fair i dont think it went back just to mess with him
I am a dog man but you are right it has been know to happen and again you are right, I think the cat liked being there lol.
Yes, harassing him was just a bonus 🤪👍🇬🇧@@johnavery3941
They probably took the car 1 mile away at most not 100
A cat will find it's way home irrespective of where it's sent.
You have 'gators and panthers, we have..............foxes, and most of them prefer raiding bins than hunting cats. We have literally the tamest wildlife in the world. It doesn't matter where you are in Britain, wildlife is not going to be a worry.
It is worth considering the possibility that the RSPCA ( animal people ) just took the cat and dropped it off around the corner rather than took it 100 miles away.
If you not seen it yet try Best of Claudia Winkleman on WILTY
Your reaction to True was amazing lol
British cats frequently travel hundreds of miles.
The rspca would say 100miles but mean 1 that's the key detail
RORY REID I believe is a CAR reviewer . In fact I believe he was in the first series of new "Top gear" . Your right we have NO praetors
I believe it
There used to be a footballer called Mark Dennis who had a reputation for being a hard man----so quite apt really.
I absolutely believe it.
The proclaimers can walk 500 miles.. No reason a cat can't walk a 100 miles
😂 Don't forget, they also walked 500 more!
😂😂 So they did.. Haha
after a 100 miles of effort.. i’d feel like i’d have to officially make mark dennis a family member.
Hi King Boomer. You have to understand how Cats live. It's true. Even family Cats have been known to return 200 miles back to their previous owner's houses, and this is mainly because all Cats are territorial. This means that they feel most comfortable in their own area, where they've spent tbe most time in their life. They will fight with other Cats to defend their territory, and if you try to introduce a new Cat into your household, both Cats will fight with each other, with the original Cat even showing hostility towards you, for bringing another Cat into the house, almost like holding a grudge, the way a human would, towards another human. If a stray or feral Cat hangs around your house, expecting food or milk, and you give it either food or milk on an occasional basis, so that it doesn't become dependent on you, it will eventually show you that it trusts you, by lying down on it's back, with it's soft underbelly exposed to you, as you approach it. This is Cat language for saying, 'Hello, and Welcome, I trust you.' The reason that I know all of this, is because it happened to me. For about 6 weeks, I gave a stray Cat a saucer of full cream milk, which isn't ideal, as they struggle to digest it, but in small quantities, it's fine. After 7 weeks, I came home one day, to find that the stray Cat had brought a friend Cat with them, so that they could both enjoy the free milk. I was very impressed by the level of intelligence that the stray Cat had shown to me. Cats are in the second highest intelligent group of animals, after Foxes, Monkeys and Horses, with only Dolphins being the most intelligent mammal above these. There are also comparable animal traits between domestic Cats and wild Cats, like Lions and Tigers. Also, feral aminals are likely to be even more intelligent than their domesticated equivalents, mostly because their natural animal survival instincts are much more fully developed.
( I have over 35 years experience of studying animals in their natural and urban habitats, so you can trust what I'm saying here.)
Side Odjaw
You are right, we basically have no preditors in the UK, the worst we have are foxes which are known to kill cats, but that's pretty much it.
He believes it. Perhaps the RSPCA didn't actually take him 100 miles away?
The Diane boyfriend one is special. Also something to do with her and a wheelchair in that episode which is amazing in it's funny wrongness.
anything is possible mate. many people can't believe you could pull such a stunner as The Queen 🤣🤣
It was actually the other way around. She pulled him.
They are Contracted to tell the truth if it is true, but they can embellish their story.
Cats are very territorial. They will always return to their territory!
You should watch the UK Office.
Na you gotta carry on with these🤷♂️👏👏😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sod cats tho,it's all about dogs👊🏻🤷♂️😂😂
come on boomer cats and dogs use the star map at night to find where they are it takes them six weeks to know where exactly where you are as the earth is speeding in a circular motion , they are aware of their surroundings and public services and exploit them
That is the whole point of WILTY. If it is true it is true
Gotcha 😂😂😂
I was hoping you find one where they say it true or false then bit later they change it to the actual correct answer
Of course it is true.
