Ceiling Fans in my Uncle's House

- The ceiling fans in my uncle's house. The first fan is a 68" Hampton Bay Altura. While its not my favorite fan in his house, its definitely my favorite install as I think it looks fantastic in there. The second and third fan are Mosses sold at JC Penny in the 80s. I think these are original to the house, but I'm not 100% sure. The last fan is the same as the second one with some atrocious modifications. Excuse the dog barking, they must have the loudest dog in the world. The video is heavily chopped because of that. But all the content is in there nonetheless.
+Kat Fan
My uncle has tried using it on different settings, and found this to be most effective. I would think that due to the ceiling height and design of the blades, reverse would be relatively useless but it does seem to make a difference the way its set.
the second fan and light looks awesome
That one is my favorite..
You could actually try to set the Altura to low forward, or even medum forward for the winter to see what that does. You could also try high reverse.
How old is that altra
I have seen those ceiling fans had home depot but i don't remember how much
+Robert Bissell The Altura is for sale at the Home Depot.. The 68" for $229 and the 56" for $199..
The stencil blade fans are CEC ceiling fans. I have the same fan in my living room
Thanks for the information..
The last two fans are actually Mosses that we're sold at JC Penney
You're right! I looked up some Moss fans, and found several which have the same upper canopy, same mounting style, same light kit, and same finish color. Thanks for your info, I'll update the description.
are the mosses 52"?
What is that noise coming from
I don't know what you're talking about.
The humming comes from the control. if you replace them they'll stop humming.
That's what I said and did...
That altura looks great in that room!
Agreed, although it did replace something a lot nicer.
Cool! Byw, Loooove that old Sears smoke detector next to the first fan
benson41011 I didn't know that was a vintage piece.. if I make another video of that fan I'll get a better shot of the detector.
Thanks!
Do you have a video of the 5 blade stencil JcPenny with the solid state/dimmer? or was that WAAYYY long ago?
No, I changed out the dimmer controls years before I recorded for UA-cam..
Jordan U oh okay.
very neat fans. never seen a Hampton Bay like that one. kinda cool. i never really had any issues with cheaper ceiling fans. most Ceiling Fans iv ever had in the houses iv lived in where cheaper models. most if not all did the job well enough for me. (then again i dont collect ceiling fans) but. cool video.
Thanks! While its generally not something I would consider to be my style preference, I actually like it in that room, it looks great there in my opinion. When that Hampton Bay first came out, I never saw it around. Now a few years later, I've seen them in a number of restaurants and the like, its become a relatively popular fan. I have 2 cheap fans in my house, and while they're not as good as the old ones I have, I don't have any issues with them either. Do you have any ceiling fans in your current house?
my grandma has 3 in her house. two of them are old 1990's Wal Marts with Cane blades and GE vents. and the other is a 2003 Wal Mart fan. iv got videos of all three on my Channel somewhere. ill find them and send you the links.
*****
Okay, thanks! I'll watch them tomorrow.

The Altura doesn't move that fast, but it looks cool.
I think its slow speeds are part of what makes it cool. The pitch of the blades is pretty steep and aerodynamic so it moves plenty of air at low speeds.
how do I straighten out the switch housing on the ceiling fan
Bend it back into place..
+Jordan U what tools do I need to use
Tylon Barnes Your hands..
Which fan is the masterbedroom
None, they're all fans.
This thread had me rolling.
Can you do a remake
No
Love the Altura!
Thanks! While the fan itself isn't my favorite, I really like the install.
Pretty neat fans in there.
Thanks! I wish I had all the original fans, but what can you do now...at least there is 1 still there.
That GEV 42" is a CEC
+Rustybearing 45 Thanks
where can i find those light kits?
You can find them on eBay,, sometimes tag sales and thrift shops..
I got a problem with a ceiling fan
Tylon Barnes That's unfortunate..
+Jordan U because my ceiling fan rolled off my bed and it bent up the housing now it's zapping me
Tylon Barnes You need to make sure none of the wires got damaged when it fell..
what is the breed of that dog
+Robert Bissell The dog is a Boston Terrier..
i bet he a good dog
Robert Bissell
Yes, she is good to their family..
good what is her name
Robert Bissell
Riley
at my old house I had the exact same fan but 3 light bulbs
Which fan?
I'm pretty sure he's talking about the Mosses
1. Home decorators collection altura
No, as noted in the description it is a Hampton Bay Altura..
7:13 Is Fuck 😂😂😂😂😂
That doesn't make sense.
that altra is cool and all, but I think a Hunter original would look better😜
+Ceiling Fan Page 2 would be even better! Or a brown Goldline..
+Jordan U looks like a pretty big room. 2 48" 4 blade brown Nutone prolines would be really cool.
Ceiling Fan Page That would be another good option.. The room is quite large, its been years since I measured it but I believe its over 25X25.. It accounts for the kitchen, living room, and dining room..
the last to fan's are alaska's
I don't think so. I've taken one apart before and it didn't have an Alaska motor.
Jordan Utter oh it must be a cec
ceilingfanman25 man is cool
They're Mosses bro...
Jordan U oh lol sorry but still i love the second fan
ceilingfanman25 man is cool Its cool, it is a nice fan though, definitely my favorite in his house.
Awesome
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the video
I like the stencil blades
Me too..
