I just bought a gaurdian 3 a week ago and am absolutely loving it! There is a feeling you get when you carry a fixed blade. Like you can take on the world.

@PaleBlueDot I only bought the the 3. I held the 3.5 and didn't like it much. As far as the blade length goes for the 3, I'm really happy with it. I think it is a perfect length for what the knife is. I cleaned all my ducks and geese with it this past season and it performed beautifully. And I think it is a great size for an edc blade. I think if it had a bigger blade it would be a little big for me to carry edc. If you end up getting a 3 I don't think you will be disappointed! My buddy bought one and he also loves his.

My Mom got me a Guardian 3 for Christmas 2 years ago. I've carried 75% of the time since. I carry at 11 o'clock if my buckle is 12. Fits perfect under my Dunlap.

I've gotten used to EDCing a fixed blade but as a rule, anytime I switch up my edc knife, I spend a little bit first thing in the morning, drawing and resheathing so I mentally know where my hand is going. Also goes with changing my folding knives to different opening methods, from flipper to thumbstud or thumb hole. That way I'm prepared with what I'm carrying. I knew you would like the Guardian 3.

I must say that this one makes persuasive argument for owning a fixed blade. Not only does it looks like business but it obviously performs like it as well. Definitely a `off track‘ knife that’s going to hold you in good stead and, should you need something heavier, a decent `hatchet‘ is going to do the trick. Something like this might be my `gateway drug‘ to fixed blades by way of introduction. Jake, thanks for this interesting take on a fixed blade I might have to acquire 😄👍

You bring up interesting points at the end. I just bought my first small fixed blade. I got it primarily for running. trails, roads, etc. I do not own a pistol small enough that I'd run with. before I decided to get a small fixed blade, I carried a native 5 lw clipped to my waist band. (my favorite folder of All time). All of that being said, when choosing a fixed blade, I wanted something that I could use in utility as well to see if I liked having a fixed blade on myself all the time or in certain situations. I also carry a pistol everyday and anyone who does can tell you it takes some work to get yourself conceal carrying. You have to put in the time and effort with holsters, positions, clothing, and what works for you specifically. I'm finding the same with carrying a small fixed blade. With a folder, you put it in your pocket and go. with a fixed blade, you have the shape of the handle, the sheath, where on your body you'll carry it with minimal printing (if you're wanting to conceal it) how accessible it is for use. YOU have to put time and effort into figuring all of this out for yourself. Like handguns, no one can tell you "carry it here, or carry it there". There are so many variables that you have to figure out on your own. For example, I carry a fullsize pistol in the appendix position, so that location on my body (although it works very well) is out for a fixed blade. I really think carrying a pistol everyday primed me for figuring out this fixed blade thing and I'm really starting to love having it on me. anywho, sorry for the lengthy comment, I just really think there's something to fixed blades if you put the time and effort in.

FWIW, I earlier recommended the Armatus sheath, and it's a great sheath, but I've since also discovered a great in-pocket sheath. Oak City Leather Supply makes a fantastic pocket-clip leather sheath that fits the G3 great. I've also got one for my Giantmouse GMF1. Definitely recommend.

I've been EDCing a fixie for years off and on. I have the Guardian 3.5 sheepsfoot that I like a lot. The length of the handle is more comfy to use but less convenient to carry. I'm thinking for ease of carry I probably should have bought the Guardian 3. Incidentally, the Izula II also fits perfectly in the Guardian sheath.

theBradford Guardian 3 is the perfect edc knife! its the perfect hybrid that does everything so well. its also for so many folder edc fans, the fixed variant for knowers. you might not always need the nstrength n extras of a fixed blade, but its nice to have.. for when u do. it just has so much going for it. which is verry hard actualy in a hybrid knife. i have so many knives, but this is my fav

I love my 3.5 handle because it doesn't have that finger groove. But like a typical knife guy, I come up with a reason why I also want the 3 with those flat scales because that's the smallest footprint. But all I would lose is a tiny bit of width on paper. But the 3.5 handle just seems like it's better. These are the crazy conversations we knife guys have when we buy something that we really don't need lol

Been carrying this knife for a month now, don't even know it's there anymore. Because I always carry a concealed firearm on my right side at 3:00, I carry mine on my left side at about 11:00 o'clock positioned for right hand draw, basically a tad left of my belt buckle. This still allows me room for a spare mag on belt, or clipped inside left jean pocket. I have the flat diamond grips on mine. I like the way yours looks better, but mine being alot thinner makes the knife so flat & concealed. But I never tuck in anything so it's easy to conceal. Love a fixed blade knife, but still carry a folding knife clipped on right Jean's pocket. The Guardian 3 is a great knife. One is none, two is one & three is better. My 3rd I carry is my baby Buck 55 pocket knife. Always be prepared. Keep carrying it, it'll grow on ya yuk yuk.

Can you only really carry this thing appendix? I find that to be weird placement, is it weird with a belt buckle? I'd rather carry it 5 or 6 o' clock, is that possible without having the knife flipped?

Do you know what the difference in microtextured carbon fiber and regular carbon fiber on the scales for this knife (Bradford Guardian line)? They have slightly different skew numbers, the microtextured version just has an extra letter "M" in theirs. The photos look identical and their prices are the same. I was thinking one may be marbled and the other end cut but I was hoping someone would have some info.

    • @beardedgear

In my opinion it depends what you plan to use the knife for, the full flat should be the better slicer, but saber ground should be more robust.

@@beardedgear I feel like it will be mostly used for slicing, but it will be my edc and could be used for self defense in a pinch, I suppose, no heavy work though. I have other tools for that when I'm camping. Maybe some feather sticking and whatnot.

Okay, being from California as well I find the fixed blade laws (and auto laws) to be very dumb and confusing. The fixed blade law says it can’t be concealed and needs to be on your waistband in a sheath. I see that’s exactly what you have here but I would call that concealed. Maybe no one actually gives a shit I don’t know.
