What is an Accredited Representative?

- Professor Michele Pistone, Founder of VIISTA, explains the role that accredited representatives play in providing legal representation to immigrants. Accredited representatives are authorized by the Department of Justice (DOJ) to provide legal representation to immigrants. Applicants for accreditation apply to the DOJ through their employer, a recognized non-profit organization, and prove that they have special training in immigration law and practice. Module 2 teaches the skills needed to become a partially accredited representative and Module 3 teaches additional skills that prepare you to advocate for clients in immigration court.

Can accredited representatives serve immigrants on a part-time volunteer basis if the representative is typically only available on weekends and evenings? I am interested but I have a full-time job during the weekdays.

Im from texas, can I do the course? Also, do they need any prior college education?
@@kimmarcony8399 I have the same question. I’m so interested myself.
I am between getting my MBA and this accreditation. The only question is how do I make money because I heard it has to be probono work and work under a nonprofit. Also, how long will it take to take this accreditation?
The accreditation is approved by the Department of Justice. It is now taking about 6 -10 months to process new applications.
Can I work independently or is the accreditation only for those who work for an organization?
Can you contact me? I'm looking for help.
