Happy to give more: 1) Mango trees give a pleasant smelling woody/citrus smell in the mornings esp when they're blooming. 2) Not all mango trees give similar tasting fruit even if they are of the same kind. This is why mango trees meant to be farmed are usually grafted (i.e. they replace the upper part with the part of another tree that has sweet tasting fruit). 3) Mango trees grown from seed grow more vigorously and taller than grafted trees. 4) Mango trees are tropical by nature so they don't do well in cold climates. Altho I have heard of successful growers who wrap their mango tree during the winter to protect it from the cold. The tree clearly struggles and will not look as healthy as those growing in the tropics, but at least it is alive.
I thought it was silly that my mother planted 3 mango trees on our land, that was a few years ago. Today I am grateful for the vision she had, because we have 3 types of mango, we get enough pulp for the rest of the year and we can still share it with relatives and friends. And it is an excellent place to escape the sun.

I have a Mango tree of over 20+ years in my backyard and it is absolutely massive in width and height. I get at least 40 mangos every 2 years and I constantly have to shoot at squirrels with airsoft guns to scare them off. I know it's not the best way of defending the tree, but it works
Very resilient and tough tree. Our Indian Mango tree stood up for decades until the Strongest typhoon in history hit the Philippines and it got uprooted. It fed us for years. Edit: Bruh. I had a tree like this that I grew from a seed. I was so proud of it. Unfortunately we moved, and it wasn't doing too well. My mom insisted it was because it wasn't getting enough sun, but the opposite was true, and it died of sun poisoning. I miss Mr. Mango :(

Don't do it though... this is not an ordinary plant. It's a mango tree. It's meant to be planted on the ground and NOT in pots. See how limp the lower leaves are? That plant is being starved.

Mango tree roots are the types that can effectively hold soil together and protect it from erosion / flooding / landslides. And those roots are huge! Can be more massive than several shrubs and entire apple trees.

Earth really is. If the older generations won’t stop emissions, it’s our job to take the wheel. On a light note, as someone who lives 50 minutes from the Sequoia Redwoods, it’s a really nice place even if I live close bye. Don't do it though... this is not an ordinary plant. It's a mango tree. It's meant to be planted on the ground and NOT in pots. See how limp the lower leaves are? That plant is being starved.

@@JustAutistic Yes. Mangoes (like many trees) need to grow far reaching root systems to develop properly. Mango tree roots are the types that can effectively hold soil together and protect it from erosion / flooding / landslides. And those roots are huge! Can be more massive than several shrubs and entire apple trees.

Just make sure it is a variety that is true to seed or it will not grow mangoes unless grafted
