Today I was bullied in my class because of my family's financial problem, it was so horrible and I was really depressed about it and I don't have words what I'm feeling right now after this video. Just a big thank you M2S. You helped me to pass this hard time.

Aadi Sankhla I used to be in the same position, just ignore the losers show them your talent, show them your potential to succeed then they would be the ones to respect you and cry cause they wasted their time. I was one of the worst in my school, after a few years it was the opposite and this will repeat when you meet new challenges and stages in life and once you deal with a certain problem, you wont have to deal with them again. Never give up! ✊👍

Aadi Sankhla I know what you feel as I was in the same situation: poor, with alcoholic father, old clothes and always feel ashamed when I couldn't afford a new jeans. But I used it as my driving force. Every night when I was going to sleep I promised myself to study hard, not to pay attention to anyone and overcome thr poverty. I managed to do it and you can do it too. Now, nobody is laughing! Make a list of goals, invest in yourself, study hard and don't dwell on being bullied. Use it as your motivation!

I’m a 40 y.o. housewife and decided to go back to school to pursue a medical career. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a (benign) brain tumor. Since then I’ve been reading a lot about the human brain and it’s powers. As an adult, I have fears and doubts in my abilities in learning a new skill. I challenged myself to learn the basics of Math & Science again. Right now I’m preparing for my Board Exam and will give my ALL to achieve my goals. Thank you for this inspiring video. ***Update: Dec.16,2017- I passed my Board Exam. I guess nothing can stop me now. Thank you all for sending positive vibes! 🙏❤️

That is part of the hard work in reaching my goal is having the courage to stand alone because the crowd is powerful in that I receive messages directly and indirectly from the media, from my environment, from people that I'm crazy for standing in the truth that is right for me. Right now my challenge is to get support in reaching my goals because another thing I'm learning is that I don't have to stand alone. There are others who can and will stand with me and to find them and engage them. Being the lone wolf/self-reliant person is overrated and has been unnecessarily practiced in my life.

Your brain can never be smart, you just learn to think and solve problems more efficiently which in return creates more difficult problems to solve. The moment you think you are smart is the moment in which you stop learning. Don't ever be smart, keep learning instead.

I needed to hear this. Everyone thinks I am crazy for being a 25 year old with two kids, trying to go to college to become a physician. I am currently working on my biochemistry and struggling, trying to raise my kids and spend late nights studying because I want to do this as much as I want to breathe. I keep hearing "your too old to go down that road", "you have to be a genius to be a doctor". "you're not going to be able to handle medical school as a mom". FUCK THAT, I am going to do it and show my children that you can do anything you put your mind to and work hard.

I lovveeeee this women, legit brought tears to my eyes, she's so right, mind set is so important, I was failing horribly for my chemistry AS level (UK education) and everyone in my class was top, and I was not as disappointed BC I knew I had put one hundred percent into it and stayed up endlessly trying and revising, I scrapped all of my chemistry notes from last year, opened up several different textbooks and used the internet articles and completely started from scratch, I did not leave a topic until I completely understood it within an inch of its life, I practiced every frocking paper available, every question, understood and picked out all of my mistakes, until there was nothing left that I had not learned, happily received top marks the following year.... Its all about whether u think you can do something, whether u accept the challenge with open arms and just go for it, walk into the dark, don't be afraid of failing, have fun, test yourself and just see what happens if u try 100%
EDIT: wow three years ago!? I forgot that I even wrote this comment!! Glad it motivated people. Three years on I decided I didn't want to study science at university and took architecture instead, just graduated :)

I think the most difficult decision is when you have already decided and know what exactly you want in life but you fail and the time is ticking by. So the question comes to whether to settle for less or continue trying for what you want with uncertainty.
Edit: I made it. I did not settle for less. I was ready to tolerate the ugly face of not making it but to be satisfied with the fact that I gave my 100℅. Be practical about what you can tolerate. It's funny that I made it too as a scientist in the field of plant molecular and genetic engineering. I will be receiving my doctoral degree soon from a very fancy Swiss University. Next target is Harvard, USA. Wish me luck guys.

This is definitely me, because of my love for video games and wanting to learn how to make them, I took up programming and I went through 2 different colleges and failed half of my classes each time and only managed to barely pass my math class(despite the fact that I love math).
I want a different job than retail but I need my license, yet iv failed 4 times at the road test which forces
Me to re-take drivers education at 26.
The more I try to push forward the harder life knocks me back. Still fighting though, can’t let failure after failure after failure keep you down. My desire for success is much stronger than the pain from failure(even though it fucking hurts).

24 years old, just got married, no job, no proper adequate financial income. Did Civil Engineering for 2 years, failed miserably at it, took a year out. Decided to go back to Education and took up Mechanical Engineering, did well in the 1st and 2nd year followed by a terrible 3rd year due to health implications. Now having failed some classes in 3rd year I'm repeating another year... Now what ? Do I give up ?
    Give up on my Mum
    Give up on my Dad
    Give up on my Wife
Give up my Education because of Circumstances ?
    NO !

I know I'm late, but I need to say this.
I've struggled with math my whole life. I'm always flustered and agitated by all the equations and the processes of memorizing the correct way to solve the problems. And what makes it worse is even though I make numerous attempts to get extra help from my teacher, she would always seem to disregard the genuine feeling I have in efforts to become better. I would always cry and cry and cry because even though I tried and studied I would always fail. Whenever we had a test or quiz, I would build up anxiety and blank out in fear that my grade would drop more after. This resulted me to cheat off others because I felt hopeless and unintelligent. I would always tell others that I hated math and that I sucked at it.
But after this video, I've come to realize that one F doesn't mean it's the end. I will PUSH myself to become better and will study LONGER and won't give up. Cheating doesn't benefit you in the long run and I had to learn the hard way. Some may adapt math skills quickly than others, but that doesn't mean you're stupid. These reoccurring pessimistic thoughts are contributing to my failures and I'm so touched by this video because I aspire to be an aerospace engineer too. My passion for astronomy dominates over my failures and I will put in the effort to dedicate my life into something I love. Thank you.

What she said about age is right.. and wrong. It's true that anyone has the potential to change at any time, but most people don't change because they decided to, they change because their world changed, and that's more prominent when you're older. The more time you spend doing something wrong the harder it sets in your brain and eventually it will set like concrete, you will get so used to do the same things and thinking the same way that it becomes you. That does not mean you can't change it, the way I'd recommend you look at it is if your brain sets like concrete, you're 50 years old and nothing seems to change then you can still change how you think by melting that concrete down to nothing and starting over, that's what you do when you can no longer mold your brain the way you want it. On the other hand if you spend your whole life looking to change yourself, to adapt and evolve, then you can keep your brain soft and malleable, not literally of course!
The best example I can provide is video games, people spend 1000's of hours playing, trying to improve and change the way they think so they can get better. Some people don't improve because they don't have the motivation, but the people that really want to get better either need to completely change the way they play and think, because it's not possible just to change 1 thought and expect it to make a difference to how good you are. There's people that are really bad, really terrible players, and these people play games loads, they might be better at one game than another but they don't get better, the reason is because they're stuck, because they spent so much time playing the wrong way that it only gets harder to start playing the right way.
The final point, there's people that start doing something and it appears like they was born to do that thing, the appear as a genius, like they didn't have to work for it. Why is this relateable? Because MOST of these people started at a very young age, when their brains are empty husks, then said person starts doing something, playing an instrument for example and not only does their brain learn to love that, it also creates a perfect mold, their brain is so fresh that it just sets itself to that one thing, just because someone is young doesn't mean are brains are less powerful, an young brain can do this amazing thing and figure out exactly how to be really good at something just because there's nothing to hold them back. That does not mean said person will be smart, BUT, this is a huge point, if this person, say they're 10 years old and they stop playing the instrument at 15 for example, they could come back to it in 30 years and they would more than likely be able to get good again. Maybe even better than everyone else, even though it's been years. All because their brain learned to develop that way, their early brain probably saw playing that instrument as "survival".
So you can always change your brain but it's not possible to do a full reset, you always have to work with what you've got, play to your strengths, but we can still adapt, are brains are even more powerful than we give it credit for, they can do amazing things when you figure it all out, but be flexible, based off everything I have said the words I would use is, "change the mold" if you cant do something no matter how hard you try it's because your brain learned to do it a different way, anyone can learn ANYTHING, ANYTHING at all, BUT, everyone learned in very different ways, everything that ever happened to you trained your brain to do something different and it's not always right, that's just how we learn to survive and we learn to survive of course at an early age taught by our environment and the people around us. So if you think your not capable of something or someones better than you it usually doesn't mean they worked harder for it, that's the truth, not many are capable of this kind of change, and even if you understand all these things like me it's still not easy, it's like walking on a tightrope. But we can adapt slowly to a new environment or new people, this is what we're best at.
Final point, if you struggle with the motivation to do something more often than not it's going to be because what your doing isn't in line with your values, the way your brain wants to think and the way your brain thinks you should survive. So when you struggle with motivation don't think it's because there's something wrong with you, your brain is just rejecting what your doing, if a 10 year old picks up an instrument and his brain gets invested enough in it and he learns to be good, at that point it's probably going to be the main focus point for the rest of his life, he will probably find it easy to pick up other instruments or maybe do stuff in music and he'll find it not only easy, BUT FUN, he will want to do it, this is what I mean by motivation, motivation isn't some magical resource, or something that you can just change, you can't just decide to be motivated to do something, so the 10 year old who's brain learned that playing an instrument is the way to survive will always enjoy playing that instrument when many other people will hate it. This is where the luck comes in, the guy playing the instrument people will probably think he's perfect, people will think he's better than they are themselves, he might be famous, etc etc, and that's how it all works.
So this is the reason I'm giving anyone reading this to feel good about themselves, don't look around the world and see talented and famous people that are better than you are, it's a pathetic ideal to say we're all created equal. But if you spend your life thinking everyone else better than you for the wrong reasons that'll hold you back the most.
Also something I missed about motivation, if you want to get motivated for something and be successful with it you have 3 options.
      1. Keep doing it, push yourself and try to push past your limits to do the thing you want to do and get better at it, the brute force approach, this can work, it seems that most people take this path seeing as half the motivational quotes I see are something silly about "pushing yourself till you drop dead". I would say this is the best way of changing yourself fast.. It's probably the easiest option, you can't reset your brain like this but if you push yourself out of your comfort zone and push your limits then you can force yourself to adapt, everything is about survival, your brain just wants you to survive, the hard part about this option is that you're already surviving, you don't have to do anything else to survive, you might try to push yourself and feel terrible just because your brain thinks it goes against your "survival", so of course it feels shit. But if you push yourself then over time you will adapt, you will force yourself to adapt, but the change will be more permanent and you will only be changing how you survive.
      2. Train your brain in every possible way to the point where you own every thought, every emotion and can decide exactly what you want to feel and do, I don't really have much details on this but I know it's an option, I'm not sure if anyone's managed to do this to it's upper limits yet in the history of the universe, this is the hardest option and it might take 30 years to obtain with a high probability of failure, the further you walk down this path the thinner the path you're walking becomes, it gets easier to fall, if you let the things people say to you and the world around you make a single decision it can push you down a different path. (I'm 20 now, this is what I'm going for, here's to hoping I can find the way by 50!)
      3. Easiest option! Figure out exactly what you want to do and why, find the thing you enjoy no matter what it is, how silly or pathetic it sounds and find a way to live off it, this is essentially like finding something to fit the mold(your brain), you might really want to do something but can't get motivated for it, because your brain rejects it, that doesn't mean there's nothing for you, if your dream isn't worth it you can let it go and work hard to find something you really enjoy, if you can make that thing into a living you can be happy doing this forever. This is the option where you don't have to change yourself, you keep the same mold, you just need to work hard to find something that fits into the mold.
      4. (SECRET OPTION)! Go back to sleep, keep doing the same shit, never change and leave your life down to chance! This is NOT the easiest option, this is HARD! Harder than any of the other options by miles. But it's the safest :)
No matter what you need the right mindset, and you might want to think about changing your circumstances / environment first and the people that you know / talk to often if you think they will hold you back, no matter what approach you take if you're surrounded by the wrong people that don't support the you that you want to be then it'll cripple you.
To end this wall of text on a positive note. Just remember you can do anything, even if you have drawn a shorter straw and the odds seem to be stacked against you that doesn't mean you're any less capable than anyone else, there is ALWAYS a way around, you might have to find another way, climb over or even find a way to tunnel through to the otherside, but there's always a way.
Never think you're worse and NEVER think that you are better!

I'm in awe and in tears .Like, she is me I failed physics and math my first yr of uni .... then I knew I failed, not because I was dumb but instead because of fear and doubt and also lack of math skills. I gave myself no option the following year did 5 courses: 2 math, 2 stats and econ. I didn't even take math seriously until after I got accepted into university. Failed math 3 times prior to uni ..... Now I'm near completing an Econ. and Statistics major with 30 credit free elective math courses.

As another woman of color in STEM, I love her courage. In almost 20 yrs, I'm always the only women of color in my immediate department. In college there were predominantly black women in my field but unfortunately many were never given opportunities to advance. I pray things change and we can see more inclusion in STEM. It's still a man's world. But you can contribute and make your own way.

I have dyslexia and dyscalculia. Tested both positive. As a kid, you really feel stupid when you’re different in the way you’re capable of learning. A teacher once laughed at me, saying “ah, so you’re double handicapped.”. It keeps hunting most people for the rest of their lives. Instead of learning kids this “learning disorder” is a bad thing.. they should learn them to be blessed. Due to my “disorders”, I’ve developed a strong power on seeing solutions were others see problems. I’m used to work-around things to make the same things happen. Now I found my passion with purpose which I see myself doing for the rest of my life. Trading stocks. Ironic, right? Well, for me, it isn’t. I’m learning through video’s because I’m no reader person. I always make a trade plan because I need to take the time to calculate my risks. I know failure is key in learning because I failed a lot. Bottomline is.. don’t let anyone tell you what you cannot do. You are unstoppable.

That is what I plan to major as well. Math is hard for me. I have failed calculus twice and I get a feeling physics will be a tough subject for me as well. I only got one more chance and it seems that the good majors require courses like these. I don’t know what is expected ahead of me. I’m afraid of not being good enough. I’m afraid of being a failure.

    • @wallacerangel616

Sara XIII You’re not a failure. If you fail something more than once even a million times and you don’t understand the concept of it that’s ok. It doesn’t make you a failure. I’m the same way with math. Things don’t always click in my head right away no matter what but eventually it does.

I am so perplexed how life thows us into positions where we have no plans to be. As I listen to her speak of her love for Math and Science, but she failed it even after being tutored, I remember how much I hated Math yet I was an "A" student in Math. I won the Math awards in high school and in college. Then I started working at the college as a manager in Basic Communication and the Computer Lab. That was great until they added Math and sent students to be tutored in Math. So, I had to tutor Math too at the college.
I was inducted into the International Honor Society at the Honors College on campus, and I graduated highest honors with distinction. Moreover, I graduated from graduate school top of my class, a summa cum laude, with the only 4.0 GPA. Yet, I could not understand why I did so well in Math when I hated it with a passion. To me, that was not smart at all because if you don't know how you can do something so well when you hate it so much, how would you be able to apply it? I realized I was lost! So, life goes on and I do other things and work in positions that did not require Math.
Then life takes a different turn, forcing me to move. Getting jobs were never a problem for me because I had a few degrees and had no problems getting another one if I needed it. However, I decided to become a teacher. I wanted to teach Social Sciences, I had the credentials to become a teacher. So, I became certified to teach all of the subjects in Social Sciences, which is very broad. I was so happy, until I arrived to the school where I was assigned to teach and was told I had to teach "out of field!" Guess which out of field subject? YES, it was Math (Geometry)! 😩😖😠😡 I could not believe it! Then I had to teach Algebra, Trigonometry, and Statistics! Statistics and Calculus were my college bullies because they made me cry, until I saw "A" on my tests!
Life knows where we need to be and why; thus, it must prepare us for it by taking us on surprise journeys. Today, my former students are finding me on Facebook and telling me that it was because of me they got through Math and did so well in college. Last month, I went out to lunch with a friend and one of my former students was working there. I did not remember her, but she certainly remembered me. She quoted something I told her in class that stuck with her. So now that I know why life forced me into a world of Math and forced me to do it well, I have a new question. Why do I still HATE Math?

    • @Motivation2Study
      @Motivation2Study  6 років тому +7

+Gail Becker that is a great question because typically we like what we are good at! The fact that you preserved through the agony and managed to help so many students means that they were very fortunate. You probably taught it from a perspective they understood and you are a blessing in disguise 💙.

Motivation2Study After I finished watching this video, I watched one with Neale Donald Walsch, and he said God told him we are not supposed to live do things just for ourselves, but we are supposed to live and do things to help others. Just when we think we have the answer to a nagging question, that answer is followed by another question. Why me and why not a person who loves Math, or why not have me help people who struggle in subjects I love rather one that I hate? I love your videos because you have guests who actually have answers to so many people's questions, especially my students. They are enjoying your videos too. It is not difficult to see what God is using you for.
