Kavitha Gangoor, born to a lower middle class family whose father was a high school teacher and a poet and with her mother being the house maker and also an inspiration to sing. The first glimpses of her singing talent was discovered and nurtured by her mother when Kavitha was a little girl. As the family could only afford a radio, the mother made Kavitha listen to and practice Vachanas, Patriotic Songs and whatever played on air.
Karnataka Kalashri Pt. M.G. Patawardhan Guruji was her first ever Hindustani Classical Music teacher and she was her student for nearly 10 years. Also, Smt. Nanda Patil became her teacher for a brief time. Now she holds a master's degree in music from Karnataka University, Dharwad where she was under the guidance of Shri M.R. Agadi and Smt. Meera.
She has appeared in multiple TV shows like Suvarna Star Singer and ETV Kannada's Ede Tumi Haaduvenu. Also performed in music festivals such as Hampi Utsav and Kundgol Savai Gandharva Punyatithi.
Kavitha was chosen on this particular episode of Engineer's Pick because of her wonderful journey. Also, the texture of her voice is unique in itself.
