I have used these Nova colors and love them ….i found I was wasting paint so I got the 8oz squeeze bottles from Amazon …these bottles have a wide mouth and paint was easy to transfer….not expensive 6/12.99
I love my Nova Color Paints, and will custom mix them into a squeeze bottle with some fluid medium and a bit of retarder. I find I use them more often that way, becaue they are more convenient and they're more the consistency my gel plate likes here in this dry climate This was SO MUCH FUN to watch!
Loved the 1st 3 trials , but the 4 th was my favorite! Iove the limited pallate as I frequently work in black and white but think the metallic copper addition was very effective! Just the right counterpoint to the strong black. I am fortunate to have a quantity of metal leaf left to me from my grandfather. I will definetly be using this in my own work. 😊
Just finished watching. Beautiful - I love the second yellow one that you used the paint spatula to add the next layer of red and black. Very cool. The pink one is very serene despite the amount of movement you have from the swirls. I condition my plate often - but never the way you gave yours a spa treatment this weekend. I give mine a stingy shower. You give yours a luxurious bath. Thank you. Always thank you.
I would describe Nova Color as a creamy consistency. its not liquid like fluid acrylic. And it also has a much higher pigment content that Liquitex basic. YMMV
@@artwhisperer88 the other thing I wanted to say is that on their website the logo says Nova Color Artists Acrylic Paint. I've been shopping there for 15+ years after hearing about them from Elizabeth St. Hillaire. They sell directly to artists and until this past year, I dont remember ever seeing an ad for them. They looked great in your work!
Simply top of the line acrylic paints…variety and great for mixing…my history with them goes back to 1999….Gonzolo took care helping you and would literally show you color mixing at its very best…always a treat to see him , have a chat , get some useful ideas, grab you paints and canvas. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed…
I think the muted palette piece is the best yet. The collage elements work with the support and the marks of the first layer. They are in union with the tone of the piece unlike the collage elements in some others works, which are disparate and remain separate from the base layer.
I just ordered some of these today and am looking forward to trying them out. May people have said that they are as highly pigmented as Golden paints at a fraction of the price. I noticed that in several instances in the video you did not stir the paints before putting them on the plate. So, I'm wondering if they would have seemed less fuid if you had stirred them first. Perhaps you did so off camera but, if not, if might be worth trying this and seeing if it makes a difference to the paint's consistency. Thanks for the video. As always, it was inspirational.
Hi, I love your videos, thank you. I do collage a lot. And use the gelliplate to make collagepapers. I use the paper where I roll the brayer clean to collage on the gellprint, so you will get the same colours but in a different texture. You can use transparant parer as well, to clean the brayer.
Since I’ve discovered Nova Color it became my paint of choice. I like it very much! I use it on Canvas as well as n paper and it is just great! Love the video Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for demoing the Nova's. Have been very curious about them. Clearly very little is needed and will be anxious to try them in my own work. The black and buff colored piece was actually very beautiful and picked up on the awesome marks in the upper left side that were so unique. What is your music, it is so relaxing and perfect for a paint day!
A basic set of palette knives would work better than spoons. They are reusable and environmentally friendly too, metal blades and wooden handles. I got a set for about £3 here in U.K. wooden lolly sticks are even cheaper… I like the look of these paints and have seen people swear by them. Very expensive here though. Interesting to see your results.
Very informative video. Different look but still in your signature style. Fulton, you know so much about art history and different painters. Did you study art in school?
My oldest sister Caroline was an art teacher and she would sit me down and give me tests with flash cards of different famous artists, I must have been 9 or 10 years old. This gave me a good foundation to pursue more studies in art history later in life.
PS. you are really making a mono print without the press and ink. The method your using NOVA, it has the perfect viscosity for your application. Well done…
It looks like you're applying much more of the Nova Color than you usually use of the other acrylics. Maybe because it appears more liquid so you think you'll need to apply more to get to get enough pigment? But, in my experience using it as a sort of acryl gouache (Its more matt than acrylics are and I don't enjoy the glare of light on color. It actually makes my eyes ache. Don't know why. 🤔) It's incredibly pigment rich, and as you've already recognized "a little goes a long way," so perhaps try significantly cutting back on the amount you're putting on the plate. I understand its popular among mural artists of southern CA. Anyway, just a guess, in case it might be helpful to know of someone else's experience. I ❣️love❣️ it's vibrant colors. As someone else mentioned, squirt bottles are the way to go.
Hi Cynthia, you are right about putting too much, it serves no real purpose. It is more effective as thin layers or washes, as shown in the iridescent pink and yellow piece. I won't give up though 😸
Thanks, Fulton, for sharing about trying a new type of paint. I was excited to see this video. When I switched from oil to acrylic paint, at first I hated them. Then I started to experience the benefits of acrylic paints (fast drying, no solvents, etc). I'd be curious after you use the Nova paints a while what you think of them. Of the paints you've used so far, which are the types that you've returned to again and again?
Which specific pearlescent white nova did you buy please. They have several listed and I am trying to find the transparent paint like you used. Thank you.
130 nacreous white, a word of caution, just because I used it doesn't mean that it is the only kind you should use. I picked this at random. I would explore other good brands as well like Amsterdam or Soho Urban artists acrylics
sound like an old man, looks like 20 years old hands, what a dichotomy, such a zen lovely video, TY sir

My favorite this time is the last in neutral tones.

So fun to watch you pull the print and see what happens.
Those new colors seems to work very well. Thanks for share your art with us ❤
Je fecouvre Nova color. Merci pour cela. Les résultats sont vraiment tres intéressants. Votre style sublime ces matières.
merci beaucoup! 💖💖

Nova paints rock !
Love these paints! I often like my ghost prints better than the first pull. These seem well suited.
They are very decently priced and look good viscosity and intensity, colour loading. The pulls you got were lovely.
there is always a danger of overbuying! Like having too much candy. 😋

Thanks for the tips!
VERY successful test session. I love all of the results. NOVA seems to be a good acrylic paint to use.
Thanks ! Not the easiest to handle, but beautiful!
love the third pull.
Love the last one...
Love Nova Paint; I have a set. Love that it's highly pigmented. Beautiful prints!

I do like the print at around 30.00

I still like Soho Urban artist acrylics the best for the rich colors, satiny smooth feel.
Wonderful images today! The company sells squirt bottles, could you use these or too thick?

Would you share info about the brush you use to apply the adhesive? It’s thinner than those that I found. Thank you

Hi 👋 m8 😊
Hey mate! Great to hear from you! 😊
@@artwhisperer88😊thank you m8 I have always been here, but not all the time, because I’m having big problems with my head 😊
I love the paint but don't like the containers at all.
Ditto!
