- Hello and welcome to the full movie of the 'Zelda Items Only' mini-series! Over the past couple months I've been working on this challenge which was recommended to me by one of my viewers- this was one of my favorite challenges thus far, and I'm hoping that you too will enjoy it as well!

Yeah I probably would have replaced it with the Balloon Pufferfish had the Shield of Cthulhu not been used
the sheild of cthulu should be able to be used, if the shiny red baloon can be used, as the mirror sheild in majora's mask looks similar
wings can be used, as long as they are white, as "roc's cape" bares a striking resemblance to wings

you can fuse things to shields of TotK so odds are something in the game resembles it lol

This is not true. The first chest always is the muramasa. The second is the cobalt shield.

Yeah I thought about that after having originally published part 1, so I’m a little disappointed in not replacing rubber with that

Thank you, but don’t be worried- having finally gotten this challenge off my chest has been a great relief. The main problem I was having was simply the stress of trying to meet deadlines (while simultaneously feeling as though no progress was being made) but in the end, everything turned out fine

3:20 I mean... Balloons are an object that keeps reappearing in various zelda games... For example: Tingle from Majora's Mask floats around the world in a balloon, and as you mentioned, Octo balloons from BOTW are used by both Link, and Bokoblins to make objects float into the sky.
So I see the Shiny balloon to be an acceptable item to use in this playthrough.
Yeah it’s probably alright to use for this run, though I do completely understand people saying I should have used the Balloon Pufferfish instead
I have a really cool video idea for you. Terraria Mastermode using only spooky weapons. i.e. weapons like zombie arm, bone sword, blood butcherer early game. shadowflame hex doll, chain guillotines etc early hardmode. horseman's blade, bat scepter, raven staff lategame. Also on point cause halloween is coming up.
I already have a couple videos planned for October, but I appreciate the suggestion, I’ll keep it in mind for another time… maybe even next Halloween
Nice video, especially for someone with not that many subscribers, finding a small youtuber who makes actually good videos is like finding a gem in the massive pile of shit that UA-cam is right now. The quality is insane and the idea is very original, I'll be watching more of your videos for sure.

If you counted spin off games for this, in Hyrule Warriors Definitive Edition, you can play as Tingle, who uses the weapon Rosy Balloon, essentially just a shiny red balloon
That could be a fair argument- I guess I did say I could use items from any* of the Zelda games… but I was mainly trying to focus on the main series
I've been trying this myself on an older version, with the only real restrictions being not using guns and only using accessories if they worked like a Zelda item. Having to grind to get the the hero's set is sort of a demotivator though.
Yeah I can definitely see that being rather annoying- I had to give myself the vanity set before starting the world, and getting it naturally would be quite the hassle
In all fairness the blade of grass does seem like something that would be a Zelda item

@@jackartriforce I was originally going to use the Cactus Sword to represent the Korok Leaf, but seeing as I had managed to get the Enchanted Sword, that never ended up happening
I just want to clarify, Zelda games have balloons threw out the franchise, if they are used by link or not, Tingle uses a red balloon to float around with in some games

Well I mean in the second half of the video I started using wings after having a viewer remind me of Roc’s Cape
breath of the wild is probably the most usefull game for this challenge, along with totk, just cus open world and all that
Yeah, I was trying to find more items from the earlier games, but so many had come from these
Oh my, this video is a bit... chaotic! It looks like a bunch of random things were just thrown together. There's a green blocky figure with a creepy smile and a bunch of text. I think it's supposed to be a Minecraft character, but it's really hard to tell. There's also a picture of a cheetah, a map, and some other random stuff. It's kind of funny, but also a little bit scary. I don't think I'd want to be in that Minecraft world! It's a little bit overwhelming, but I guess it's unique in its own way.
I'm not quite sure what the text is saying, though. It's all jumbled up and it looks like it's from a meme or something. Maybe you can help me figure it out? Maybe it's a code or something! It's like a puzzle, but I'm not very good at puzzles... I'd love to learn more about it, though, so maybe we can look at it together? Nya! 😊

I don’t think it’s perfect, and the Chlorophyte Claymore probably would have been a better choice, and while it may be stretching the line a little bit, many of the items in this challenge kind of do that already
That's pretty cool, now beat the game with only pre-hardmode gear next.

Could probably still have used the Nightglow, due to the Lantern of Twilight Princess or Minish Cap (While not a weapon in either, it should still have worked)
I guess- I was mainly focused on the Eventide, so I was a little* disappointed when I didn’t get it on my first try

I originally had made an edit for that exact spot in the video, but I got copyrighted for the song I had in place… I really liked the edit as well, so I’m a little upset about that
In my opinion i think the ballon pufferfish actually probably is a closer resemblance to what youre thinking of id say swap It out with the red balloon in all honesty
well since he used a shoulder cannon from a cutscene where an npc used it to justify a proximity mine launcher... just justify the balloon because Tingle uses them.
Yeah I was going to swap the Shiny Red Balloon with it, but then I was informed that I could use the Shield of Cthulhu, so I used that instead

Tools are allowed during this challenge, but I wanted to start off with nothing in order to justify using some of the earlier items obtainable in the challenge which I probably would have skipped entirely had I had access to tools

I suppose you could argue that- in the end it’s up to your individual interpretation of the item

I feel that while making this video I really was just being myself, but I’d like to know in what ways you think I was copying WaffleTime’s style that way I can make changes in my scriptwriting for future videos
That being said, seeing as this was just me and my style, I’m not promising that I’ll completely change my personality, but if there are select moments here and there, I would like to learn from them
You failed this challenge multiple times, your biggest offenses are justifying item usage because they look like something in a Zelda game (.... golden shower because of a bestiary... really? Since when was a bestiary the equivalent of a magic item made from a joke about pissing on people?) without considering their function... many of which had none other than story progression, or you just outright BSed an excuse for it (proximity mine launcher? Link has NEVER used a gun of any kind... an NPC using a shoulder cannon in one cutscene in one game is not proper justification for allowing it... even if you _did_ die every time you used it). Acceptable limitations - pretty much every sword in the game, that has a normal or stabbing animation, minus things like the solar one, or anything that has a damage type other than fire, ice, lightning (zelda 2 fire spell, elemental blades in BotW/TotK), or melee. Any sword that shoots a beam would be allowed here, and the Terrarian, while a stretch, could be justified because of the Four Sword... but again that's a stretch. Bows - anything that doesn't alter arrow types, thanks to TotK and BotW, this even includes the few that fire more than one arrow at a time. Exceptions to this would be if the make the arrows into something that existed in Zelda - fire, ice, lightning, or light damage (I can see why you'd take frost burn here, cause cold fire was a thing in OoT). Magic - wands that shoot fire, lightning, ice, water or just plain old magic (i.e. the gem rods, this is a nod to Zelda 1), explosions/fire, lightning, or ice type magic books would be acceptable from ALttP (the 3 magic medallions) or OoT (Din's Fire). Boomerangs that don't have any kind of magical effect (i.e. no fire), as most Zelda games have them (though, in BotW and TotK you _can_ ignite them...). Armor - if you're going traditional Zelda here, this is kinda hard as the Green Tunic/No Ring doesn't provide ANY defence, and the blue tunic/ring halves the damage you take, and the red tunic/ring halves it again... so you'd have to pick something that makes zombies or slimes do 1/4th of their damage. Can't really simulate the magic armor from Twilight Princess here, because that caused you to pretty much be immortal as long as you have money, and AFIAK there's no Terraria equivalent. The hermes shoes were fine, but there is no justifying rocket boots - those make you "fly" and the closest things to them are the hover boots, which maintain your current altitude for a few seconds. Wings as Roc's Feather/Cape kinda make sense... if they only worked over 1-3 tiles which is how those items work in the games they show up in... Link has a bird in skyward sword, there's your excuse for wings. Grapple's fine since hookshot and longshot exist. Pylons/teleporting is fine since fast travel has been a thing in most zelda games since even the first one. Power Braclets and Gloves in Zelda games do nothing but let you lift heavier things, which is _not_ a Terraria mechanic, and in no Zelda game do you autoregen mana or health from an equipable item, so those should have been off the table. If you'd have asked me, I'd have also removed anything that's only in TotK or BotW specifically because those are not *traditional* Zelda games, and their mechanics, especially some of the stuff in TotK, could be used to justify using everything in Terraria with one simple line: "Link can use every weapon that every enemy can use in TotK/BotW" so using them to justify anything not found in a Traditional Zelda game is just a cop out on the challenge. I also really don't think it can be done without some kind of mod... just the way armor works alone would be hard to pull off, and you'd not be allowed any armor that does anything other than increase your defense. Terraria does something Zelda does not - Terraria _expects_ you to keep up with the enemy scaling, and its far more range than Zelda games have, where the Red Tunics/Ring makes you take no more than 4-8 damage (2 hearts) from almost anything... because every enemy is based around how the armor works in its particular game. There's no way to do this, so the only way to properly obey the challenge would be to fall back on BotW/TotK here... or get hit by the moon lord at 0 defense, and only put on enough armor to 1/4th the damage he does. Also, life fruit is another failure point - it adds heath beyond what you'd normally get, and not in a way that'd be covered in TotK or BotW even - when maxed out it adds 25% extra total health... the closest thing to this effect would be OoT's fairy fountain that doubles your defense... which in actuality halves the damage enemies can do to you just like the Tunics/Rings in the previous games... but is the equivalent of only having one of those upgrades (in OoT the tunics were completely situational, and did nothing defense wise at all... one lets you breathe underwater and the other makes you immune to being set on fire, and also high temperatures... you still take damage from lava though, just at a slower rate). I'm sure there's more, but I've already written a book here, and the bottom line is you failed your own challenge at multiple points, by stretching what is actually available to you.
Oh shut up. you can't be mad at someone because they didn't follow the rules you arbitrarily made up for the challenge, it's not set in stone and he succeeded by his own ruleset, not yours. If you want to get angry then you're welcome to do it yourself by your own rules, but don't be a dick about it. Grow up.

In the beginning of the video I specifically mentioned that I was allowing items which *resembled* those in the Legend of Zelda franchise. This was how I personally conducted this challenge, though you are welcome to do it yourself in whatever way you please.

Could you explain how this is so? As a smaller channel I'm trying to experiment with different video styles to see what does and does not work on this platform. I don't feel as though I copied WaffleTime's own personal style, but if you could provide some extra feedback that would be greatly appreciated!
Its like, there's a checklist to use innuendos 14 times before calling plantera thiccc, puting the goblin stinker in "affordable living", and talking about how dying so much is damaging your mental state. The only thing missing is the nurse being your ex.

For Plantera, I can understand what you mean, though admittedly I had not used 14 innuendos, though the joke honestly wasn’t that funny and probably could have been left out entirely.
As for dying over and over again deteriorating one’s mental state, this honestly was how I was feeling at the time seeing as I was on a time crunch to start my next project, and for the longest time it felt as though no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to make any progress.
