Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- Today we will be doing a breakdown of Cormac McCarthy's three failed marriages to Lee Holleman, Anne Delisle and Jennifer Winkley. This isn't a gossip video, but rather an analysis how his marriages and divorces influenced his novels.
McCarthy's four southern novels, "The Orchard Keeper," "Outer Dark," "Child of God," and "Suttree" are the main pieces we will be talking about today!
Dianne C. Luce's book on Cormac! (best scholarly book I know of on Cormac)

Cormac McCarthy is an American writer who we consider one of the greatest authors of all time. He was born in Rhode Island but was raised and wrote his initial works in Tennessee. However, his most famous (and best) works were written in the Southwestern United States. Below are some links and my opinion on all his books!

Cormac McCarthy getting the idea for his Tennessee novel that would later become "The Passenger" is one of the things I find most interesting in "Embracing Vocation." From what I understand, he got the idea from a poem about a man throwing his clarinet into a lake.
Before reading this, I thought that he started "The Passenger" in the 1970s, based on the Fall 2022 Santa Fe Newsletter. I also cant help but wonder if the sunken jet in "The Passenger" stemmed from that clarinet in the water.
Exactly! I need to find an analyze that poem and see exactly what's going on lol.
I just read in a Telegraph article that Cormac and Anne spent some time in Ibiza, and that they traveled Europe in a Jaguar which he repaired himself. After reading that and listening to your video, seems The Passenger might be one of his more autobiographical novels. Fascinating stuff!
Whoa, didn't make that connection! Crazy stuff!
Was he imitating Paul Bowles?
@@Johnconnowhat makes you say that? Never heard of the guy would be interested in any parallels you see
I’m married to a woman now & while we’ve grown together, I feel as if it won’t last. You talk a lot about McCarthy’s desire to live a subjective life & certain concepts pertaining to postmodernism, yet I’m wondering if you have anymore knowledge about Cormac’s POV on the subject of relationships. Not just with woman, but friends, the self, etc.
Talk about it all the time! Sorry about your relationship. Cormac seems to hold heavy boundaries and stick to them no matter!
@@WriteConscious I’m grateful for our personal growth, specifically our mental health. Worth the 6 years. Ty for the consciousness
I've watched several videos from this channel so far and the vibe so far (respectfully) is fan boy. This video feels like real growth for you as a researcher and communicator. Good work.
Thanks Tom! Expect more videos like this. Have hundreds of videos planned for this year related to McCarthy. Some will be more fan boy chill videos and others will be theory or research based!
"You don't meet nice girls in coffee shops"
Great video! McCarthy is the proto-sadboy.
Cormac is our guy and a genius, but it was definitely him that was the problem.
Warm regards to Two-Sun
Lol! Thanks Ernesto! It's alright, Cormac looks really good in regards to his personal life compared to most authors. We all have to make hard decisions that others in the present and future may not understand. If any of us got famous, people would question our worst moments. However, Cormac is a massive net positive in terms of impact and contribution.
Shoutout Prague!
I really LOVE that shirt. Did you design that? Where can one purchase that?
I did brotha! It will be back on my t-shirt website soon. Probably in about two weeks. It is down right now for a resdesign plus an addition of 25+ new designs and styles!
Look for me in future videos shouting out the shirt website and it will be there
