To be fair 267k miles on GMs worst engine in a hybrid that doesn't tell you its over heating until its dead is pretty impressive.

Yeah I was pretty surprised it got to 260,000 miles. On a Chevy Hybrid? Of course we don’t know what all was done to it over the years.

I'm surprised it made it to the FENCE of the destination, but I already knew it was a bad buy when it has a hybrid vehicle with nearly 300k miles, then I was extremely like HELL NAW when I saw someone that most likely doesn't know what they're doing messed with the electrical, but like 0.4% of me was like, at least its most likely wiring of the hybrid system.

With almost 300K miles, I would check the catalytic converter. A clogged converter will cause the heating problem. I’ll bet that if you replace it you would be good unless your pushing it over the limit trashed the engine.

I would keep the battery and put a junk one in it.
I mean it needs an engine, a battery is going to be the least of anybody's concerns. I might even sell it right to the junkyard, you might get more money out of it than sending it back to auction.
When I attended SUNY Morrisville one of the professors had a hobby of buying old clunkers and just letting them run with a brick on the pedal to see how long before they'd blow up.
The best story on one of those was a late 70s Nova with an inline six. They did all kinds of stuff to it trying to kill it, coolant added to the oil, etc. but it was so sloppy that it would just heat up until the pistons would lock up... then once cooled down it would start up again.

You probably already know this, but for most hybrid vehicles, if the hybrid system fails, you can’t just drive on the gasoline engine because of the way the systems are integrated. One problem is what you experienced, when you stop the vehicle, the engine shuts off because the system presumes the hybrid battery will take over. Also, because you are likely not the first to overheat the vehicle, it probably has a bad head gasket by this point.
This is one you can really do some rebuilding on. Hopefully, it will bring you some good viewer numbers and you will come out okay on the purchase.

You don't have heat, and it is more than likely overheating because of a bad thermostat. That is a super easy part to replace, and controls the flow of the radiators fluid once it has warmed up. They get stuck, and stop the free flow of the radiators fluid through the entire system.

From everything I saw so far, I would lean towards thermostat. At the point where you pulled off the road near the fence, I would have called a tow and saved the engine because even if it needed a head gasket, still cheaper than blowing the engine and having a useless pile of junk because it seemed to run really good when it ran. JMO. Hope you can maybe fix this or at least get your money back out of it in scrap or parts. Good luck Randy.

I’m not sure how people get their custom vehicles registered from bits and pieces of other vehicles but I think it would be the same way if you combined these two vehicles and then Randy would be able to do something with the old body of the GMC instead of it just sitting there gathering rust. Yes it would be cool to get it going with all the original parts but that has been unsuccessful in getting the title done. So maybe it would make it possible to come up with one very cool vehicle out of the two? I would certainly love to have an old looking truck with modern guts! That might be a cool name for the truck? “Modern Guts”! I also think Randy is up to the challenge! If he’s interested?

No heat because you have an AIR block in your cooling system the water did not circulate in the motor therefore it overheats there's two bleeders on that vehicle it can't have any heat because the water's not even circulating to the heater core because of the air block.
