great review only missed one bit of information.. videos can be uploaded but is there "playback"? for example; can you access from mobile app and playback a digital family video you saved or a digital movie saved from pc etc.
Thank you for the Video. I am struggling with the setup. How do I use it as a backup disk for my Apple mac TimeMachine? How do I back up my (whole) iPhone onto it? How do I make a 1:1 copy of my laptop onto it? Your help is appreciated.
The best is to partition the drive and then use half of it for time machine. let time machine format it. just google the broad areas ive said and should work. You can connect it to the router however after testing that the whole router pipeline gets choked.
@@MominNz Thank you! How do I partition the drive, as it does not show in Disk Utility? It does not seem to operate like an external hard drive (which I know how to use very well). Can you advise so I can understand the operation of it better?
I have the drive setup but for some reason I can't search my file through the finder on my Mac.... Do you know why this is happening and how I can fix it?
Nice review. However, I wish reviewers would talk about 'heat' and 'vibration' from the device. So, does it seem to get warm/hot under load? When on a desk, does it seem to vibrate the desk under normal load or extended load? Thanks
I have two questions. Could USB used to attach printer which then be visible from every PC and phone? Could I watch movies directly on smart TV and browse video and music files on TV or any other device (online receiver attached to local network)?
So i had the previous version of the My Cloud that WD dropped and does not support anymore, but i had an external Hard drive attached to the My Cloud USB port that gave me access to this drive from outside the home. Does this version of My Cloud Home have the same feature where i can attach either a thumb drive or external hard drive and get access to it from over the internet ?
do you know if the app can be accessed when you are away from home? I'd like to know if I can upload photos to mycloud and then delete it in my phone to save some storage space when I'm travelling.
@@MominNz I tried that but it's not showing, similarly if you tried to do that in Windows it will not work without instaling the dedicated discovery software developed by WD for Windows or MAC.
@@MominNzIn fact it is showing but not accessible. It seems that WD has developed it as I mentioned before for a purpose. In fact I have seen such comments as well from some other users...
Interesting Looks like it works pretty well. I would have liked to have seen the process of actually migrating/copying you library from say Google Photos to this. . I was reading the reviews on Amazon for this unit and they are for the most part abysmal.. can you comment at all?
it truly depends on the usage and amount of load or connections to the drive in a single time. using it on a regular basis has not given me any issues although not a great fan of WD drives due to the reliability however drives are never reliable and need replacement after few years. at this price point its a good piece of kit and does the job well. easy to use and intuitive setup

@@turkimax1 that's strange, it should show up on the local area network.
