These two guys are among the very greatest of musical talents ever produced in the UK. Like so many other people who have posted here, I miss their collaborations too. I have all their albums too and they still send shivers up my spine for all their strange brilliance. Thank you guys for all the years of great listening pleasure.
I can relate. They were always right up there with Lennon & McCartney to me. A great partnership that I sorely miss. Both have done projects with other artists. But what they did together will always be all time favorites.
Who was to know that their partnership was coming to an end? Howling At The Moon remains unmade. I love 'em and miss 'em, but those brilliant records - L, Goodbye Blue Sky, Consequences, etc - remain.
You see Kevin Godley behind a drum kit in maany of the 10cc videos. He has an amazing voice so you might see him behind a drum kit with a mike in front of his face. I think Kevin has a beautiful voice. He can hit some serious high notes and has a beautiful falsetto. Don't you know he's a trained graphic artist and writes a lot of the song lyrics? Yes you are being unfair to Kevin Godley. I had "Sheet Music" when I was a teenager ON VINYL. I have been a 10cc fan since I was 12.
Good woman! I have all of 10cc's albums on vinyl too, includes some impressive sleeve covers. How Kevin Godley did low singing and 'falsetto' (?) singing - like on Rubber Bullets say - I'll never really know. Absolutely great!
It didn't happen. Probably for the better. The 80's were awash in music video directors that tried the big-screen thing and failed: Rachel Talalay, Russell Mulcahy (apart from "Highlander"), Stephen Hopkins (one of the "Elm Street" movies, "24"), Jankel and Morton ("Super Mario Bros." and the remake of "DOA")
Maybe I'm reading too much in this & knowing it was toward the end but their body language does seem more defeated/tired, especially while waiting for the other guy to finish speaking. Good clip though!
Guys... I'm hunting high and low here in UA-cam and Google to see if I can find a clip of Kevin Godley playing ANYTHING other than singing (and even in that, I think Lol, Graham, and Eric all sound better)! Am I being unfair to Kevin Godley here? Do you know something I don't? Can you point me to a clip that shows him playing ANYTHING other than singing?? Coz if not, then what the hell was he doing shuffled among three amazing singers, instrumentalist, and song-writers??
lol 14 years later....if you check the Mandy video released with the single you will see Kev playing guitar with the rest of the guys. As to what he was doing there...well I guess without him there would have been no Neanderthal Man single which might have stopped the group before they got started and without Kev's ideas they would never have turned Im Not in Love into the monster hit it became. Check out any of the albums and see how many songwriting credits Kev has. Also, you seem to be saying that as drummer and singer he hasn't contributed as much as the others so does that mean Graham is "just" a bassist and singer? The only difference with the others is that Lol and Eric are guitarists and keyboardists, not exactly Mike Oldfield territory and of all the guys Kev is the only one still actively making and releasing new material - check out his Muscle Memory album. That enough for you? Enjoy.
They didn't have much choice, actually, Lol and Kev were going to do Consequences. Because they wanted to experiment. Eric Stewart is Lol's brother-in-law and they spoke often. I know because I worked with both Lol and Kev. Great people by the way..
They managed a decent album in Deceptive Bends and a final decent single in Dreadlock Holiday and then it went downhill (though the Mark II live band was pretty good).

A shame most people tend to know them only for "Cry" - most certainly one of the most interesting and inventive musical duos ever!
Who was to know that their partnership was coming to an end? Howling At The Moon remains unmade. I love 'em and miss 'em, but those brilliant records - L, Goodbye Blue Sky, Consequences, etc - remain.
Yes that was my first reaction when I watched it , they looked a bit tired. But they had some big plans with the movie that never went through.

20+ years later, I'm not aware of any film project from them. Anyone know of any?

Sorry this is old news but they did make a very funny film called The Lunatic.

Are you telling us you've never seen Kevin Godley playing drums?
As you've aptly pointed out, Godley has a shrill singing voice, and prides himself as a formidable drummer. He played keyboards on I'm Not In Love.

@@eoghanlyng5074 I'm certain that was Eric on keyboards.
@@billstorie5161 They both did.
haha xd
The day Eric and Graham let Kevin and Lol walk out was the beginning of the end for 10cc. It just took them 15 years to die.

@@TheMimic44 - lucky you! Must have been a real pleasure and inspiration!
