I think it went fine as I recall but didn't get as much watched as I'd hoped. For the last several months I've reserved Fridays for American history nights with pretty good success. Thanks for your interest.
This was terrific. Although Chaney is about as believable as an Indian as I am as a black person, at least he can act. So suspension of disbelief is okay here. Nice to see Michael Ansara.
You’re absolutely right!!! John Hart seems more natural, his acting more relaxed than during the two seasons he played the Lone Ranger. In that series, he always seemed to me, awfully wooden at times.
Just discovered this. Had no awareness. I'm going to watch the series beginning this very a.m. as the start of my own personal "American History Week" leading up to Thanksgiving & thru its following-weekend. I have many You Tube offerings lined-up, including documentaries, famous Americans of the past on news & interview programs, etc. I've never done this before. Should be fun! The week before Thanksgiving, thru the last weekend of Nov., seems appropriate for concentrating on American history. Here goes---oh, and, Happy Thanksgiving to all!
Interesting episode because of all the American guest stars! Michael Ansara, Casey Adams, Frank DeKova, Stacy Harris and Gregory Gay! BTW, this was the pilot episode and was shot in LA and the local mountains. From ep. 2 it was shot in Canada with only overused Canadian actors.
This TV series was remade as the 1994 - 1995 TV series Hawkeye starring Lee Horsley and Lynda Carter. The new version used the same story line and was quite good, despite lasting only 22 episodes.
I believe this series would be used as a style pattern for NBCs Daniel Boone in 64 when Fess Parker left Disney. I think some of the footage from this series was even reused in the pilot to Daniel Boone. The feel and situational buddy travels are very similar as well as taking the characters through a vast array of historic situations. Even the introduction sequence has similar direction for Parker. Take this and mix it with Parker and Ebsen's work for Disney in the 50s and you have the first year of Daniel Boone.
I grew up in the Mohawk Valley Rome NY .. the Iroquois trail is now a 2 lane road been on it hundreds of times .. Michael Ansara Oganna is not indian .. he was Born in a small village in Syria, Michael Ansara came to the United States with his American parents at the age of two,
Man to man combat, and Hawkeye doesn't even lose his hat!!!
I used to watch this as a young boy back in the 60's, great to see it again.
tHEY MUST HAVE BEEN REPEATS. i WATCHED IT on tv in the late 50s.
You are probably correct, I was born in 53 so would have been 6 or 7 years old watching it, sounds about right.
it does, i'm a 1949er, and had grown out of kidstv programmes by 1960. ;-)
@@ianbentley7276 To my surprise this the first episode aired in 1962, I had thought it was earlier.
@@holmanrw me too, usually good at dating programmes/events.
Forget time machines. I was back to my childhood watching this. I thought I could feel the sun on my face. Now for episode 2.
Perfectly preserved from the era of American Greatness.
Damn!
The Lone Ranger, Frank's monster and a famous Klingon, all in one show.
Far out!
This was a classic & should have run for more than only 1 season.
I agree with you. This program deserved a longer run- probably two or three seasons.
@@stevencroson4666 no doubt & Lon Chaney was great in it.
Hawkeye, Wagon train, Rawhide, Bonanza and of course, Lassie! My favourite TV shows ( UK here!!)
This brings back some childhood memories.
Another old classic series from PizzaFlix! Thank you!
Quality filmed drama shown correctly in 4:3. Wonderful!
KAN 6.19 UK
This was the first and best episode.
At 16:37 the look of murderous delight on Michael Ansara's face is absolutely stunning
to me he looks like a scary middle eastern type
Great actor.

Very good show
Thanks! Great show.

yeah, Chaney is very good throughout. Hart is ok, not as stiff as he was when he played the Lone Ranger. It helps that his dialogue is less formal.

Gracias por este clasico, saludos desde Venezuela 20-06-19..

Interesting, after this I only recognized Canadian John Vernon .

Never heard of that one either. Just found out about this one this morning and decided to check it out tonight.
My favorite show - raised north of the mohawk river , then married a mohawk girl.
💙👏😄
Gosh. He got the raccoon hat with the raccoon head still on it.

S Tho: Yep. Boone 1a.
Interesting. Each tribe has their own knives arrows bows etc. Fast foward a few hundred years. We ID who is supported by who by tracking weapons

I looked for these guys at Villa Park but unfortunately they were not there!
Good show, but a little Mascara on Chaney♡
Made in America episode . That why there was no sharpe edge on the tomahawk at 10:02 😉
Thanx! Had to laugh....Ottawa tell truth! Never! And of course I'm talking about Truedope! Sorry. Had to.
Amazon here i come !
I think this was before acting was invented.
You just knew that tomoe-nage was coming.
Did not the producers hav enough money to hire a actor to play chingachgook
This was a remake of the movie "The Iroquois Trail"
her is Uncas
The Last Of The Wichita
Mr. Drysdale?
Last of the Wichita
I can't believe they killed Hawkeye's brother in the first episode
Thanks a lot Bethany!
That was shocking.
And they made him so likeable just to piss us off???
Was Lon drunk during this filming?
after Larry Talbot he always seemed drunk.
I was wondering how he could get through 39 episodes in one year.
Fire water bad. Water water good. Me hypocrite.
Where's Trapper John Mcantire and the rest of the Mash 4077 gang. Oh it's a different Harkeye
Wll well..Michael Ansara who had a famious geniod of a wife.
He certainly did. He got to see more than her belly button
Don’t remember this one
