What a wonderful episode of Crimson Chronicles ... Randy Ross' time, talents and remarkable memory of his role with the Crimson Tide was a treasure of information. What athletic staff wouldn't love to have someone with his unique abilities in the building each and every day ... Roll Tide, can't wait for the next edition !
Thanks William! We’re having a blast doing this & glad to know you’re enjoying it. Keep the comments coming. Especially what else you’d like to see or questions that you want to know about.
His impact on Alabama is huge. It’s also worth noting that he was influential in the Nick Saban hire as well. Coach Saban has great respect for Coach Stallings. The two people that called him on Alabama’s behalf were Coach Stallings & Ozzie Newsom, and that seemed to make a difference.
This is great. I wish every Alabama fan would watch it. I have always been very defensive of Coach Shula when fans bad mouth him. This entire interview is outstanding!!!
@@MarcBradley-nf2ib Thanks Marc! Regardless of what anyone thinks of his coaching tenure, he’s a Bama QB. No one can take that away. It’s a huge shame that he hasn’t felt like he could come back.
17:51 As much as I love Coach Ross, he’s a bit off on the details here. Brock didn’t miss a PAT to tie the game at "17-all". Instead in the second quarter he missed the chance to tie it up at 14 all. Fast forward to the fourth quarter, Brock nailed a booming 42-yard field goal, putting the Tide up 16-14. That kick was a cannon shot that soared over the uprights. Unfortunately, the Tide's defense couldn't hold, and Mississippi State responded with a go-ahead field goal, edging ahead 17-16. The Tide mounted a promising drive to MSU's 39-yard line, but faced a critical 4th-and-4. That’s when Coach Stallings made a fateful decision: instead of trusting Brock, who had just drilled a 42-yarder that could’ve easily cleared 60 yards, he opted to keep it in the hands of Kitchens. But Kitchens’ pass fell incomplete. The win was so big for State that the fans swarmed the field and tore down the goalposts. Ironically, during the the next game against Auburn, Brock kicked the game-winner, sending Stallings out with a signature win.
@@RTR-96 Thanks for the correction. I’m sure a few games have run together for Randy. 😂 Appreciate you clarifying for us. I hope you’ll continue to tune in and that you will add your voice regularly to the community of folks we are gathering around the show.
