My dad is not around all the time anymore, and my mom is depressed and has become an alcoholic. I understand how this music helped my dad, because now it helps me. I've been clean from drugs for 6 months, and I have not had a suicide attempt since March this year. It is now August 2020. The only way to be truly humbled is to walk it. I walked the road of many.. I was out on the street begging for change and I had to figure whether it was going to be beer or tobacco to help me through the next few days. People don't beg for food in the US for the most part they beg for release in whatever form it may come in.... Alcohol, Nicotine, and Illicit drugs are the main escape for 95% of the people on the street. I sobered up and used the same technique to travel anywhere I need to, I'd beg for money to pay for a gas to get a ride or just beg for a ride. What no one EVER understands is that it can happen to you overnight.
The message of this song is beautiful, always have empathy for others, and try and see things from their perspectives. Walking a mile in someone else's shoes could make someone's day, or even life. Don't be too quick to judge, you'd be surprised by how far a lil empathy goes.
I remember hearing this song for the first time when I was maybe 14. Its taught me lessons that still stay with me 18 years later. Put yourself in the next mans shoes before you cast judgement.
It's so easy to judge and point fingers at someone. Even when they don't know the whole story or the potentially horrible circumstances of that person's life. I love how this song points that out. Think before you judge or insult someone.
This song can NOT be 24 years old! When the heck did THAT happen??? This is one of the most real songs I've ever heard. I try not to judge because I'm only 3 years into sobriety after forty years of drinking and there but for the grace of God go I. It's never too late to get help. It's never too late to show compassion and empathy for those struggling.

Mt son Mitchell had schizophrenia and just recently struggled with a fentanol addiction. He was turned away many times from hospitals when he was seeking help because they were full and had no place for him. Was evicted from his apartment and on the streets for 4 months. After an altercation with the Police at 4 in the morning in a vacant building he was shot and killed. It could have been avoided, this police officer did not need to shoot to kill my son. 😢😢 It's only been 6 months and I heard this song yesterday while shopping in Winner's (a store my son & I shopped at together occasionally). It just brought back all the memories I had of him, all the beautiful happy memories of him and all the very sad difficult times he had struggling with his mental illness and his addiction. He was only 34 years old and beautiful, loving, talented gentle soul.❤❤

I heard this song many times but it spoke to me as I walked by someone's bunk while I was in rehab in New Orleans, a year ago I when I was 19. I stopped and heard the lyrics and I knew exactly what it meant, having been homeless, feeling rejected and lost for being gay, needing drugs and having been judged by my family, and the ex who abandoned me at my worst. I attempted suicide by overdose but woke up a few days later and this song became one of my biggest sources of inspiration and motivation. Some people just don't know what its like. I live by this song, a life motto, a reminder. (I've been through some shit, but there's people out there who're fighting worse) Might have it played at my funeral
I listen to this song, and I hear the stories it tells. I see the pain in all of your lives. But you don’t know what pain is like until you’ve known what life is like without it. Life is short, and y’all can’t think about all the bad things. Sometimes you gotta put it behind you. We’re stuck on a rock spinning around a big ball of fire, but we’re stuck together. And we’re all we’ve got. Look up at the moon, and think to yourself, someone knows how I feel, and sees this moon in the night sky. You’re never alone. You’re just not looking for people in the right places.
i was 24 when i first heard this. im 54 and it hits harder now more than ever. most of my past was already locked into these bars in 94, the rest came soon after
Yes me too I remember listening to whitey Ford sings the blues every day to school as a child w my dad unfortunately I lost him 3 yrs ago. This and ends r the ones that really hit hard. I got the call n know what it's like. Let's say that. N that was our song who would've thought!? He would've been happy to know he came out w a new CD w h.o.p
I love the beginning: The rising synth and 2nd guitar (heavy chorus/reverb pedal effect?) swooping high and low bird-like before perfectly levelling off on the first drum beat of a very complex rhythm.
This hits to close home part about begging for change ! You never know anyone s situation so when ever i see anyone asking for change or help i always give !! If they do right with is thier choice but least i can lay down sleep knowing i helped some one today !!
Alot of people really have zero knowledge or an idea of what this song is about, because they were born and raised completely different, almost in a diff. World! But, for those born in this world, know exactly what it's about! Keep your chin up
probably the most beatiful song written by Everlast. Sure, one of my favourites. So deep and full of pain. H.O.P. was still in his veins when he dropped this.
Damm man this hits so hard I remember when my mother died and my dad being to drunk to fix anything and preforming in the subway just to feed my siblings and daughter but by God's blessing I'm in a better place Stay strong guys I get it time get tough but you get stronger because of them
I've lived my while life saying exactly what this song is about. People have judged me so many times for things out of my control. They all hand me that tired old " You just need to get over it" line, but they don't really know what it's like to be judged and not be able to live a normal life because of it.
After 57 years some always will. I try to never judge anyone. Ain’t my job and I don’t know their story. I try and give everyone the benifit of the doubt and the opportunity to show me what they about. Time tempers most things. Even those perceived wrongs of others. Live your life best you can and ignore the negativity of others. You know your heart and that’s all that matters
God forbid we walk in others shoes, imagine knowing other’s pain as well as you know yours. Power to the folks who can bear it. Lord knows I can’t do that all the time, but I try.
My little brother showed me this song, years ago. This was one of his favorites, and it quickly became one of my favorites, too. Tomorrow marks 7 years I lost my little brother to suicide. Listening to this song makes me feel like I have a moment with him again
Sorry for your loss. I’ve had thoughts about committing suicide here and there mainly because of my epilepsy. Then again I think about my younger siblings and how I can’t do that to them. People who’ve never experienced anything like that don’t know what it’s like waking up every morning afraid about what might happen. It sucks.
I love this.,.a voice for the voiceless, empathy is in short supply these days..., I'm glad to know it's out there, I'm not alone....no one choses poverty, devastating illness, loss, homelessness
This song... This song honestly helped me through some tough times... I back when 18 I wanted to end everything. I somehow convinced myself that everyone/everything would be better off without me. I raised a gun to my head and was about to pull the trigger, and this song came on... I just sat there and listened, by the end I put the gun down and went to bed... It still amazes me how this song in a way helped that night... Mad respect for the upload brother, stay sane and stay strong...

That's how hit songs work though. It's not like a popular song is going to age and expire. Eminem's Lose yourself is an old-ass song, but many still argue that it's one of the best hiphop songs of all time.

Venezuelan, 38, an immigrant, starting over again, alone and away from the loved ones. Along this path, I have met a few amazing people and also those to whom I gave my trust and who failed at me. This was another cool song/video on MTV back in the late 90s as a teenager in a different life context. Now it is an anthem for endurance to whatever life brings. When you feel it is getting hard to keep your head out of the water be reminded you are not alone in this. Play it fair. Respect others if you can't be in their shoes.
I've heard this song so many times since I was a little kid growing up and saw it on VH1 for the first time. It wasn't till this year that it came on the radio and I actually listened to the lyrics and really started enjoying the song for what it is.

There is still worthwhile music, just a lot harder to find because realism and truth haven't been very popular lately.
Oh, it’s out there. Just not on the radio. Support live music anyway you can. Butts in seats.
Kendrick, jpegmafia, and PUP exist.
Empathy. A forgotten trait. So many of these lyrics have lived in my soul, they are truths for me...at 67.❣️😌
I listen to this song, and I hear the stories it tells.
Childhood song, every time I heard this on the Radio. I felt better this songs heals every time.
Timeless
truly
A fantastic song changes your perspective on things. This song is not only a great tune, but an amazing teacher too.
The new generation needs this music in there lives. They need need to know whats its like. ✌
the guitar solo just hits different its amazing just gives you this chill.....
This song was perfect for our generation. It holds up, it hits home. Whitey Ford you nailed it
One if the greatest songs till this day!!! For most they won't understand. For ppl like me this song means a lot!!
i was 24 when i first heard this. im 54 and it hits harder now more than ever. most of my past was already locked into these bars in 94, the rest came soon after
I never realized how deep this song is, I’m getting the chills
Can’t help but feel the pain in this song today
Amber Peve it’s a House of Pain
Yes me too I remember listening to whitey Ford sings the blues every day to school as a child w my dad unfortunately I lost him 3 yrs ago. This and ends r the ones that really hit hard. I got the call n know what it's like. Let's say that. N that was our song who would've thought!? He would've been happy to know he came out w a new CD w h.o.p
Amber Peve so true
Everyday I feel it
Yeah just fell in love with the music when i was younger...didnt realize the meaning until i was way older!
I love the beginning: The rising synth and 2nd guitar (heavy chorus/reverb pedal effect?) swooping high and low bird-like before perfectly levelling off on the first drum beat of a very complex rhythm.
Love it. This feels the same to me today as it did when it first came out
These songs were introduced to me by my friend John W. Rest in peace my friend you are missed .
This hits to close home part about begging for change ! You never know anyone s situation so when ever i see anyone asking for change or help i always give !! If they do right with is thier choice but least i can lay down sleep knowing i helped some one today !!
The lyrics of this song are as real as real can get
I bet Jesus would love this
I agree

You're damn right.
Classic Song, Mix of all music and tells a great story
Amazing how this song has always kept me humble throughout the years.
Damm man this hits so hard I remember when my mother died and my dad being to drunk to fix anything and preforming in the subway just to feed my siblings and daughter but by God's blessing I'm in a better place
Stay strong guys I get it time get tough but you get stronger because of them
I've lived my while life saying exactly what this song is about.
Brilliant song,👍🏻 hits different now I'm 48. I remember in 98 i was 23 when i heard this going" holy shit!" Great song.
God forbid we walk in others shoes, imagine knowing other’s pain as well as you know yours. Power to the folks who can bear it. Lord knows I can’t do that all the time, but I try.
It's all we can do is try. No one's perfect, we all mess up.
Growing up poor in the hills of Georgia this song represents me and everyone who knows the true meaning of depression and pain 🤘
Keep pushing man, and never forget where you came from! Respect.
Fuck yeah!
This song is timeless, because unfortunately those things will always happen in our world. Every time I listen I get chills
I used to listen to this song on the radio when I was little. Just found it again, now I realize the meaning behind it. Deep stuff
My little brother showed me this song, years ago. This was one of his favorites, and it quickly became one of my favorites, too. Tomorrow marks 7 years I lost my little brother to suicide. Listening to this song makes me feel like I have a moment with him again
Dam bro I'm so sorry hrs in a good place and watching your every step🌹💯🌹💯🌹💯🌹💯
@@Sayyestoheaven31 thank you so much
So sorry..watching over you .
Now your angel
Sorry for your loss. I’ve had thoughts about committing suicide here and there mainly because of my epilepsy. Then again I think about my younger siblings and how I can’t do that to them. People who’ve never experienced anything like that don’t know what it’s like waking up every morning afraid about what might happen. It sucks.
"Walk a mile in her in her shoes" "society makes me blessed for once in a lifetime
Wow, music is the best medicine for pain. I hear so many songs that I can relate to. This is one of the Best songs. There's so many parts of this song that I can honestly say I've been there and I've seen things I never thought I would. It makes you think and that's what a good song does. It's not like the shit they put out now. Amazing Song 🎶❤🕯
Matthew Curran Life is too short Embrace your Pain use it for good Stay Strong Dont let the devil have his way Music Heals Love Heals
Glad you’re still here man.
I'm glad your still here... when people feel that way you have to remember the people your leaving behind your family will be the 1s to suffer.. you take your pain away then create pain for everyone else who cares about you.. not to be a dick but suicide is selfish
Oh brother thank you for staying strong
Well now,its good to see you all here, wonderful to see such an enthusiastic crowd,Lets have Whitey Ford sing us a blues tune and forget the election,Whitey Ford 2024🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Everyone has trials in this life. We all need to remember that we are all the same. Treat others like you want to be treated.
A throwback song thats still ahead ofits time.
To all you “kids” that grew up back when this song came out when I did and we were told to not complain , I’m here with you , they won’t ever really know but it’s ok because we do
Extremely relevant right now.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONG FROM EVERLAST, WHAT IT'S LIKE!!!
Do not let people live rent free in your mind,
That can be difficult...
true and sad!
Good Advice..
How much should rent be? I'm gonna guess 160 a month
Ian McCall+ I wish
Whenever I have a fucked up day at work I just burn a bowl and blare this song to the max.
Right on!" Bro!
Right on man
Is that's why they call it "loser lettuce"'? lol
@@pulsarlights2825 Wow, a song about not judging others and then this comment, the irony.
@@QcChopper I don't judge, but I do call 'em like I see 'em....I don't give a shit what anybody does as long as it doesn't cost me..In my experience most motherFckrs don't have the brain cells to spare...lol
Different stages of my life when this song played...bad ...worse...wicked .. better after putting the beer and whiskey down... God is good and so is this song
So real and so raw and right
Timeless story about truth
Why don't we ever here real music like this anymore !
There is. You just don't find the good stuff on the surface, you need to dig.
You just gotta dig a little deeper!

My friend took his life on Valentine’s day 11 years ago, and the last thing he posted on his facebook was the link to this song… RIP Jack “Sunshine” miss you all the time
This album was amazing, top to bottom. Dude totally reinvented himself in a way no one anticipated.
24 almost 25 years still a hit🖤🎶
This will always hit a spot.
This song has more perspective than all us humans put together. I'll drink to that🍻
Go
I'm drinking one for all three of us brother
This is the time when artists actually have a dame about what they put out . And what they put out had heart
This song reminds you to not take so much stuff for granted❤️🔥
20 years still a great song
Trebor Villarreal my dad just got his DD214 AFTER 20 YEARS he found this and played it as we left haa i found it interesting and here i am now.
Trebor Villarreal ,, for real this song is awesome
That's how hit songs work though. It's not like a popular song is going to age and expire. Eminem's Lose yourself is an old-ass song, but many still argue that it's one of the best hiphop songs of all time.
Wow 20 years?
You're right it still a great and true song.
true be that man
Real words don’t fade-away!
I remember listening to this in the 9th grade when it came out, and it was a sobering song even then. This is as raw and real as it gets. The guitar work on this is badass and now at 40 years old I know what it's like.
I've been looking for this song for a year, and I'm so glad I found it!!
One of my most favorite songs. Realeast song ever,, this is when music was music
Loving it 😍💙💜
Music is always music, you just have to look hard for the good stuff.
Do we ever know we’re all caught up in ourselves , thanks Everlasting great song Shannon from Aus
I had to take a trip with my uncle, I got in his old ass truck and he rolled the windows down because he was smoking, this came on the radio, he turned it up, I’m glad he did♥️
Man this song is just so great I will listen to this every year until I die
Still rocking this may 2019

Rockin it in October what you mean?😂
Yeeeep stil great
Venezuelan, 38, an immigrant, starting over again, alone and away from the loved ones.
My sister put this on one day when i was 7, and i loved it still to this day its a bop
Fun fact: there will always be atleast one person "still listening" no matter the year

I've heard this song so many times since I was a little kid growing up and saw it on VH1 for the first time.
It wasn't till this year that it came on the radio and I actually listened to the lyrics and really started enjoying the song for what it is.
Ya know, if people would listen to this song, and I mean listen, not just a little, bit take it in and to heart, this world would be a much better place!
Word
If you are listening to this, you know what it's like and you rock!
