Man this takes me back from being a freshman to being a sophomore in high school when all these songs came out..music was the only thing holding me together at the time..1990-91
Nirvana may have came out at the end of '91, but the change really took effect well into 1992. Still a good amount of hair metal and "Wayne's World" influence thru the 1st quarter of '92. The grunge thing wasn't "overnight", no matter how many revisionist blogs say so.
@@javajoelradio I think so yeah but beside Nirvana, 1991 also notable for the usage of Soundscan for the Billboard 200 that also will take shape next year.
@@aobasuzukaze1032 It was at the end of this year that the switch to data from Soundscan (sales) and BDS (airplay) being used to power the Billboard Hot 100 was made (at the end of November). The first #1 under the new system was "PM Dawn's Set Adrift on Memory Bliss
What a rubbish year! No Queen, only the very occasional good song like Crazy, More Than Words, Losing My Religion and Can't Stop This Thing We Started. The rest? Nah, especially Wind of Stupid Bloody Change and the other one by Bryan Adams
I love Queens but them not releasing any noteworthy track that year given Freddie passed away doesn't make 1991 a bad year for music. Some of the most amazing tracks of all time came out in 1991 including Wind of Change, Smells like teen Spirit and Everything I do, Rush Rush, Touch myself to name a few.
Ugh... SO many good memories of going from 6th to 7th grade. I REFUSE to believe this was 30+ years ago!
O
1991 was one of the best years in history of popular music.

Sweet memories~
I just graduated from HS and off to college, this hurts a lot. More than 30 years ago....
Memories....
This was definitely a great year chartwise, a fantastic mix of genres...especially dance!!
That was a great time. The party from the 80s continued… until Nirvana came in and we went from,” life is awesome to life sucks.” Thanks killjoys.
Oh shut up grunge/alt rock was the return of real rock music with meaningful lyrics after the embarrassing glam phase
Cool 😎
Thnx man the year Im collecting CD's and cassettes..loved it here in the Philippines..👍💖🙏🏼💿🇵🇭
Waiting for such year-end top 100 of 1990-1999 of Germany, NL, Belgium. They aren't published in youtube yet, but very interesting to watch!
My junior year in high school, much diversity, like my school.
Another very interesting ranking❤
I was 19 girl in 1991
All The Man That I Need really should have been a duet between Whitney and Luther or Peabo. Damn, We will never get that now.
Roxette ROX!!
Great year for music
The year that changed popular music as we know it in the 90's

@@randychampion184 yup it really helped a lot of rap and country music in both Hot 100 and Billboard 200
@@aobasuzukaze1032 Yes definitely, in the first year alone, Sir Mix-a-lot and and Kriss Kross were beneficiaries.
Everyone in the comments was in school mean while I was just being born lol
The year I turned 20.
I miss the pre soundscan era!! This was the last year before the switch
The most popular song of 1991 is Smells Like Teen Spirit
Didn’t peak on the chart until early ‘92
Color Me Badd...AKA, George Michael, Rick James, Vanilla Ice, and Kenny G clones.
Back when life was cool now it sucks
And then add to all of that, No Metallica, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, etc listed. That was an insane year of music.
Going from a mediocre 1990 to the best year of the 90's was refreshing.
All killers no fillers.
Varios clásicos entre bodrios, definitivamente la música popular con el cambio de década había cambiado.
Yeah, 1990 wasn't a stellar year for music.
This is the video I'll send to people when I tell them 1991 was the worst year in pop music
Many songs were amazing, but several others were not. Perfect classics along with completely forgotten songs... a trend was starting.
I watched this video and it CONVINCED me that 1991 was a horrible year for music, so your method won't work. Most of these songs SUUCK
