I’m here to tell you it actually does make sense, for you see: Waluigi was the main antagonist of Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix. Yes he wasn’t the final boss, but he was the one who set the plot’s game in motion. Waluigi wanted you used these music note things (sound keys I think they were called), to hypnotize the world with his dance moves. Is it silly? Absolutely. But I feel that Waluigi being the default character here is a wink and a nod to referencing DDRMM.
It would be more interesting if all characters that were not selected could stand on the stage, and not only Waluigi, Luigi, Peach, Daisy and Rosalina, from the most likely to the least likely.
