  • Reading the chessboard is one strong key to knowing how to control your chess game. Another way as this game demonstrates also, is to not react to what your opponent threatens all the time.

I have watched a few of your videos now and I have found some of your moves/analysis dubious but I can honestly say that you played this game extremely well. Both a bishop sacrifice and knight sacrifice in one game! Both very interesting moves. Keep training and hopefully every game will be this easy for you ;)

    BTW - right after ...
    1. d : e 6 b : c 4
    2. e : f 7 + K f 8
At least - in my humble active chess player opinion ...
White would lose right away - and no matter what, while in the same time ...
Black would EASILY win - by slowly stabilizing his own position and defences - by finally and strictly consecutively getting to activise all the rest of his rear pieces - by overpowering white in the center of the board - and by finally mounting a counterattack on white 's king flank positions ...
Therefore - I just think black was ABSOLUTELY right to accept c4 bishop 's sacrifice - and this way GLADLY get rid of white 's sole MOST ACTIVE PIECE ON THE BOARD - white 's c4 white-fielded bishop ...
And hence, this way - by just NOT making the WORST move - K : f 7 - right after white 's - e : f 7 + - black was firmly on his way of total domination - with a LIGHT PIECE OF MATERIAL MORE than white, while with ONLY ONE PAWN respectively left for white - he would EASILY DESTROY white 's f7 pawn very quickly and effectively - while in the same time, white had no longer this BRUTAL SUPPRESSION by his c4 bishop - ALL OVER the a2 - g8 diagonal ANYMORE - and so, white having lost his MOST ACTIVE AND BRUTALLY ATTACKING piece on the entire board, hence I just honestly think ...
If only the player with black pieces in this game was just a little bit smarter - and a BETTER player - black WOULD take advantage of this BAD c4 bishop sacrifice - and would ABSOLUTELY win the game all the way from there on ...
So - I definitely think sacrificing your very STRONGEST and MOST ACTIVE piece on the board in this position - was an absolutely BAD idea - an ILL advised move - and would absolutely honestly COST you the ENTIRE game - if only black KNEW HOW to take advatange of it ... Sooo :)
Just a humble advice from an active chess player - you know, just ...
DON 'T GET TOO TEMPTED BY NON-THOROUGHLY AND NOT WELL PLANNED ENOUGH SACRIFICES - PLAN WELL, PLAN SLOWLY, PLAN CAREFULLY - CALCULATE EVERYTHING DEEP AND FAR AHEAD - NEVER TRY TO FORCE WIN BEFORE ITS TIME COULD ACTUALLY COME - BUILD YOUR POSITION SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY - BEFORE YOU ATTACK, CREATE JUST AS MUCH POSITIONAL TENSION AND SUPPRESSION ON YOUR OPPONENT 'S ARMY AS POSSIBLE - FOR BEFORE YOU ACTUALLY STRIKE - OR YOU JUST FORCE YOUR OPPONENT TO ATTACK - THEN EVEN WAY BETTER ...
Because only then you WILL FINALLY at some point - SEE FOR YOURSELF and will absolutely thrive on ...
ALL of the benefits that this approach WILL finally grant YOU and you will SEE FOR YOURSELF just ...
How much WORTH this kind of approach will turn out to be in the end when ...
You will FINALLY AND ULTIMATELY DESTROY ALL OF YOUR OPPONENT 'S ARMY IN THE BLINK OF AN EYE ...
Yet AGAIN - it 's WAY better to just FORCE your enemy to ATTACK YOU FIRST - while NOT ATTACKING HIM FIRST, while in the same time, you see?
BY ONLY JUST BUILDING JUST AS MUCH POSITIONAL TENSION AND PRESSURE BEFORE AS ABSOLUTELY POSSIBLE ...
ALL THE WAY BEFORE THE ACTUAL BATTLE CAN FINALLY BEGIN ! :)
So, you see, my friend? That 's all what chess is all about - just ... AWAIT for the RIGHT moment - BUILD PATIANTLY ALL THE TIME - NEVER STRIKE QUICKER THAN NECESSAIRY - NEVER ALLOW THINGS PURELY PER CHANCE - because believe or not ...
ONLY WHEN THE RIGHT MOMENT ARISES - AND ONLY THEN ...
YOU WILL DESTROY ALL OF YOUR OPPONENT 'S ARMY IN JUST A MATTER OF A FEW MOVES - AND REALLY MAKE USE OF ALL OF YOUR PREVIOUSLY, SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY BUILT UP TACTICAL, STRATEGICAL - AND ALL KINDS OF ADVANTAGES - BEING THE OVERALL POSITIONAL PRESSURE - THAT YOU JUST REALLY NEED ...
TO BE ALL SET UP AND ALREADY PREPARED WITH - AND HAVING ALL PREVIOUSLY AND STRICTLY CONSECUTIVELY BUILT UP - BEFORE THE RIGHT TIME COULD COME - BEFORE THE RIGHT MOMENT COULD COME - BEFORE THE VERY BATTLE CAN BEGIN - BEFORE ITS TIME IS REALLY ALREADY AT HAND ...
So, you see? Chess can ALWAYS make you learn something more - and learn something really NEW yet again - so ...
It was all my pleasure to assist you in this impressive position 's analysis and I 'm pretty sure that ...
You ARE gonna IMPROVE - ONLY with TIME and with PATIENCE ...
For you see - TIME and PATIENCE is what chess is really ALL about after all ... :)
Glad to be of help! And videos are pretty cool! Just keep walking, keep going and keep improving! Just remember ...
There 's nothing impossible and nothing that truly cannot be done! For it ALL depends on YOU ...
Glad to share my chess thoughts with you ... And keep going with the videos - they 're really cool! :)
See you on the next ones I guess again ... :)

I Don't know if you saw this at some point but AT 22:00 In to the video when your opponent's Bishop on B7Xg2 check, Instead of taking the Bishop with your king, You should of taken it with Your queen (Queen d2 x Bishop g2) And then he could of still moved his Queen (Queen a7 x pawn e7) Then your very next move would be Queen g2 x pawn g4 Check Mate! Just something I noticed, Thought I share that with you all! Happy Checkmating!!!

You guys stumbled through the opening (which is forgivable, as learning the endgame is much more important). Eventually, we reach the critical position after 11.. b5. There are several very specific, tactical lines to consider. That's what's worth discussing. In your line, White can play 13.. Kf8 and save his rook (although White is still much better). 12. Nxg5 is also very strong, as in many lines it allows the White Queen to get to f3 to threaten f7 and the rook on a8 at the same time.

    Here's the issue...
Mr. Shirts, I've met many people like yourself in my short lifetime. You seem to be kind and earnest, and you have a great passion for communication. However, these qualities are no substitution for chess knowledge (or for any kind of knowledge that truly requires a formal education in that area). At times in this video (i.e. 8 min mark) , for example, you speak in a very theoretical/positional manner, when the position simply calls for a very specific tactical calculation.

Well look at this at 26:55 KING h5 - h6 White pawn cannot move aside the rook because if it moves the rook gets eaten and after that the pawn gets eaten no matter what you do. IF you dont move the pawn your rook AND pawn are trapped and you MUST move rook to make the best move. well? the knight gets out and you are not so strong anymore AND you are about to lose AND you didn't get lucky. actually at this point it is almost IMPOSSIBLE to win the one that plays the black. -you didn't figure this?

This looked like a landslide for you, but this John character had some great ideas at the end there to maybe save himself or get a past pawn in! Very good game indeed. Hey, Professor! Loved the video! It's funny how you say you aren't that strong tactically, but I put the game through Fritz analysis. It praised you for 22. Nd5+! which let you free your Queen and of course for 25. e7+!, which tries to set up mate with deflection. Good strategic game. I learned a lot and have already subscribed. Keep it up!

Im only startin to play Chess so apoloies if this questions seems a little amateurish. But once you moved your pawn forward you had the choice between taking his pawn or his bishop, both resulting in you checking his king therefore preventing his castle. So why take the pawn to the right and not the bishop to the left?

Accepting the queen's gambit is questionable only on the grandmaster level. For chess club players this opening is quite good. It's human nature to make mistakes and even grandmasters make blunders. Kasparov said in one of the interviews that in chess wins the person who makes the last blunder but one.

No he doesn't Gaspipe, think again. 0/10 for reading comprehension skills. He doesn't mention the possibility of Kf8, which is the only move to stay in the game. Maybe he has some long term idea of trapping the queen, but its not working.

  • @Vedioviswritingservice

He thought about it for a long time before taking Kxp. He wasn't obligated to take it. He could have played Kf1. You would have two pawns for your Bishop. His king is exposed, you have better development and he has a material advantage.

can someone explain to me why at 23:14 John didn't play queen H4. Theoretically if White Took goes to G5 checking the king. White Queen takes Took on G5, then black queen takes white queen on G5 then king takes white queen on G5 leaving Black up in material?

    • @torbis75
      @torbis75 8 років тому

I guess he just would not check with the Rook at G5 then. Rather push pawn f6 and if black takes with g7xf6 then Rook H6 mate. If black does something else f6xg7 will give a passed pawn. G4 to g3 for black instead could lead to queen exchange and white still up on pieces two rooks against rook and the lonely horse ;-)
