Some time ago I had to look for her zodiac sign. She is a Virgo. I looked because she is exactly like my husband. They share the birth day. I didn't use to believe in things like that. 🤭🤭

Hey Claire, a little trick: put fake eggs made out of stone there, so the ladies have always something to sit on! Then you'll get eggs nearly everyday per chicken^^ (it is working at least for us & a very common method in Germany)
steps to make crème caramel: - buy a cabin in an undisclosed location - get four chickens - build a chicken coop - hope for eggs - get a blue egg + others - make the dessert
Babish is somewhere going "You COULD just buy your cabin but today we're doing things the old fashioned way and felling our own trees to build a more authentic cabin environment"
I’m really glad that Claire’s getting to move to the country. In many ways, it’s the ideal environment for people who are passionate about food. You get a lot more control over the quality of your ingredients when you grow them yourself vs buying them.
Just when I thought Claire's videos couldn't be more educational and enjoyable, she is now living like a disney princess, surrounded by animals, chopping her own fire wood, and enjoying the great outdoors :) Please do more videos of Claire learning about homesteading! You guys are doing an amazing job!
watching Claire in her gumboots and overalls, chatting to her chickens, making gorgeous food and learning to chop firewood has made me realise I'm not doing life right.
There is no "right way" to do life! But I understand what you mean, and I hope you're able to integrate more of the things you love into your daily life
Depending on what school of thought you are using, eggs might not be vegetarian. One difference is as you said, using your own chickens. In some parts of the world they flat out aren't vegetarian.
Before I got w my boyfriend I had never had farm fresh eggs right from the chicken. His family lives on a farm and now I absolutely love all the chickens and swear by fresh eggs. Makes such a huge difference, even in color.
I’m so happy for you! Your cabin … sans cabinets … is delightful! Your chicken coop and flock are so cool! You’re composting and chopping your own wood! And you made a flan!!! Can’t get much better.
I don't know if it's the woods, the chickens, the spacious if unfinished kitchen, or all of the above, but Claire seems so much more relaxed and happy and I'm here for it.
@@SarahConLeche referencing her history working with BA and her suffering in the gourmet makes segment, but it also automatically shifts to the after drama surrounding underpayment of staff and BLM, the majority of staff in their videos leaving etc
This video is reminiscent of my childhood cause my grandparents used to have chickens and my grandma would make flans out of the eggs in big batches. It was cool as a kid watching my grandma do that. And we get to get the eggs for them!
“I laminated the instructions” .... ah yes, that’s the Claire we know and love! On a side note, I have 14 chickens and way too many eggs this week (blue ones too!). This couldn’t have come at a better time!
Oh Claire! I hope your b.a. friends are watching you and are impressed (Brad Leone, I'm thinking of you!) and proud of you. Quite the life-step for you to go from New York living & working in a fancy, uber modern, industrial kitchen . . . to a cabin in the woods!! I can't wait to see how all of this goes! My heart is with you as this all progresses. When the excited newness wears off, I hope you continue to love it all the more!
In the Philippines we use to call this "Leche Flan" because we used to much milk on the dish (condensed milk and fresh milk).. thanks for the recipe!!!
After you’ve had the chickens there for awhile. You can open the pen during the day when you’re there and let them run around free range. You’ll find that it not only makes them much happier but they’ll get a broader range to their diet, making their eggs even more nutritious. You’ll end up not having to provide them with as much feed either. Our chickens hardly eat any of their feed and their eggs are always a deep orange color. It’s great to see you raising your own chickens, growing a garden and splitting your own firewood. Far too many just take things like eggs, produce and heat for granted. Not having any idea what effort these things require. I think I’m gonna make me some flan tonight. I’m just gonna add a little cinnamon to the eggs.😊
OMG Claire, you are a riot! And I look forward to all of your new adventures on your homestead! I hope you'll surprise us with some of the recipes you've been testing?!?!
This reminds me of Pudim, a brazilian recipe super similar to crème caramel in therms of the ingredients and the looks, only the making of if that's a little different. So delicious!
The amount I just sweat trying to get the custard in the oven inside a water bath without burning myself or dropping anything was insane. But I did it!
Searching in UA-cam I found you channel and I was so happy when I saw that you have a flan recipe, but nothing like ours, you will love our Spanish flan recipes but I love you apple cider donuts the best.
This makes me laugh sooo much!!! My brother and his wife, both City kids from SoCal moved to Texas 3 years ago. They have a big beautiful home near a lake and never showed interest in having animals. I've lived in TX for 6 years and my dad moved here to be my additional caregiver since I'm critically ill. I live with my mom, but my parents have been divorced for A LONG time! They moved my dad in so he could have a comfortable place to stay aka reun away from my mom 😜 now if I could just figure that out HAHA Sooo last year my dad said they got chickens! It took some explaining, and OMG what an experience. They started w/ 12 chicks (random breeds) they lost half just after a few months b/c of some "bug or mite" made them sick. plus 2 ended up as roosters so they found new homes. Then they decided to keep the 5 living until they got bigger. Finally they added 8 more I think. I would keep asking my dad how they were doing and he would shake his head like these crazy kids. They destroyed dads garden and he kept having to clip the wings b/c a few of them decided they wanted to check out the swimming pool, but couldn't figure out a way to get back to the enclosure??? Then when winter hit they huddled into one corner of their very large heated accommodations and decided they liked that ??? UMMMM so when you said something about them not being the smartest, that's exactly what I thought! They got them to get the eggs WELL as of 3 months ago they NEVER ate any of the eggs! I say 3 months b/c their house was damaged severely early this year and up until a few months ago they expected to move back in, but it's not happening. Having to go 2 times a day from the rental to put up/take out the chickens has become too much especially now they are putting the house up for sale. Thanks for the laughs, I will have to show my dad this, I'm sure he can relate! ENJOY
Ugh I struggle with those waterers too! Especially once they use them and they get muddy and wet. I usually have to tip it upside down on the ground and hold the white part with my boots while I twist the red part with my hands. They can get pretty stuck during the winter too
Use a Turkey lifter! Put it down before adding your pie plate and filling the roasting pan with water. Take the roasting pan out of the oven and easily lift the pie out with the handles. No dangerous maneuvering required!
If you thought this episode was delightfully insane, just wait till next week when we welcome our first guest to the kitchen. Any guesses?

The pure wholesomeness of Claire on her own homestead making desserts for the world is just what we needed in 2021
Wait, as a vegetarian, you wouldn't have to give up eggs!! Especially not if you're getting them from your own chickens, hehe.
I do believe she meant to say vegan, considering she also started talking about cutting out dairy too :) you do have a point though!
@@Silentgrace11 ah, yeah, makes sense!!

In some parts of the world they flat out aren't vegetarian.
I mean I would agree since if she is getting eggs from the chickens naturally it really doesn't count as animal abuse since it is the natural way.
technically lacto-vegetarians have given up on eggs but the rest yeah they wouldn't have
Your team is doing great cinematography, sound and editing. Really impressive :D
The drone shots were A+ :)

Claire being happy makes me happy.
"Did you guys plant this?" That Claire thought the crew did it tells me everything about the pranksters they are. 😂

What happened with BLM and BA
The little smiley faces on the dials when she pulled the water bath out of the oven brought me way too much joy.
