I played horn in high school, at the University of Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and in the US Army Headquarters band in Heidelberg. Germany in the early 70's. I have a real appreciation for how difficult the instrument is. Sarah brings a real joy to playing and is a wonderful inspiration to practitioners of the art. Much admiration from me!
Just wanted to let you know that about ten years ago when I was having a hard time and about to quit playing my horn, I saw you on the youtube and your performance encouraged me not to quit and keep playing it til now. I always wanted to say thank you. You are my role model because you are the best woman horn player in this world. You should let me know when you come to the States or Korea. Wish there is a change I could meet you in person and even play with you together one day.😊
When my school music teacher, Lt. Col. Sam Rhodes (retd.) introduced me to this piece more than sixty years ago, it gave me a passion for music that has not diminished. He was one of the best teachers you could imagine, he also encouraged me to follow my dream of becoming a teacher.
From my experience of playing the French horn in high school and college, I can tell you it's more difficult when standing. It's not light, so you can't support it on your knee. Also, the smaller mouthpiece than the trumpet makes it more difficult to play when standing. And she's playing from memory, so bravo, bravo!

Not an easy instrument to play. Armbishere ( misp) is ridiculously small and all kinds of intonation problems can occur without proper breath support. Which you need a lot of

Zu viele Mätzchen und keine Ruhe nicht natürlich gespielt. Zu viel unnatürliche Agogik wo sie nicht hingehört. Sehr Schade . Aber es gibt auch schöne Aufnahmen aus alter Zeit.

Mozart wrote 4 horn concertos. Back in those days horns didn't have valves and sounded quite different.
