Cran The man Player 1 showed the typical level of skill that a member of the gaming press has. Which is to say zero. Player two was probably one of the devs.
I don't get why people say this looks boring. Is it just cause it's a simple old school platformer? I still enjoy playing Super Mario Bros, Adventure Island, Contra, Metal Slug and other old games once in awhile and this looks pretty similar. Sure, it's just a simple "run, shoot and avoid getting hit" type of game, but that's exactly what makes it good, it's as simple as it can get. It doesn't need to be much more "sofisticated" or "complex" to be fun
Snidex- Same. Any old school platformer has the same "repetitive" play style where you're constantly avoiding projectiles and possibly shooting at things. Bunch of Overwatch babies in the comments who probably expect 30 characters each with complex movesets and fancy online features.
Scaarfii me and you are one in the same everythinks it should have gameplay like ori which I really disagree since the gameplay from ori is boring and it wouldnt really make any sense for it to be a game like that it just doesnt fit the art style
The animation and gameplay is looking so much smoother and redefined compared to the previous showings, originally only wanted this game because of it's unique artstyle but ow it genuinely looks like a fun (if somewhat difficult) game.
This is a very important piece of art. Never have I ever imagined that this cartoon style art form would show up as a video game. This is going to break the grounds of art history and video media all around!
anajjar456 i hate physical releases. Having to change disks all the time is annoying and unnecessary. Plus I have other things for decorations. My games are hidden behind a cabinet door. But that’s just me
I do not know why people are complaining that this game already looks easy the last boss fight actually looks really good and challenging especially with only one player
MightyKid95 also they played the game on simple and not even regular (you can see when they select the level to play) imagine this game on hard!?! Damn, they actually had to add in the simple mode I believe because people were finding the game too difficult when play testing it.
I think people are also forgetting that these are very first bosses of a set of 30. If people think the beginner bosses look easy, the ones you find at the end will surely be more challenging.
I would agree but the revived player only comes back with 1 hp and the only way I could think of making it harder would be having it borrow from the saving players hp pool or super counter.
People who think this is easy are usually noobs that got little experience with the genre. Games like this always look easy when shown by a skilled player.
If you like co-op platformers, side-scrolling, shoot em' up or beat em' up console video games like this try: -Cuphead -Donkey Kong Country -Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game -The Simpsons Arcade -Castle Crashers -Alien Hominid -TMNT IV: Turtles in Time Or TMNT 1989 Arcade -Rayman Origins -Rayman Legends -Metal Slug (any) -Streets of Rage 2
I love the design of the stage with the Frogs. I mean, the battle looks pretty intense already, but the background is so busy, with flies dancing, serving food, watching the fight, and so on... The attention to detail is stunning.
Old Man: What's with these new-fangled cartoons these days?! I remember Steamboat Willy and Popeye the Sailor Man! The good old days! (Old Man plays Cuphead) Old Man: ..... What's with these old-fangled cartoons back then?! I want more Gravity Falls and Reg'lar Show! The good new days!
People are complaining that it looks boring when all they've seen is the first 3 levels. That's like saying that Mario games are too easy when you've only seen the first 3 levels. Hold your criticism until the game is out and people are playing it
But the first three levels of a Mario game are a fun kind of easy. If you replaced the graphics and sound with something more generic, say a pseudo-8-bit style, nobody would be excited after seeing this.
The first three levels of Mario are great. They teach you the basics of the game, how the enemies work, how the powerups work, and they give you some simple challenges to boot. Cupman so far has shown that it's contra clone levels with megaman clone boses. Nothing interesting to me gameplay wise.
I understand that what we saw didn't look promising, but my main point is that it's too early to draw conclusions and lose interest in the game. There's no telling what the rest of the game might be like. If every level is like this, then yes, it'll be pretty disappointing. But judging by how long it's been in development, surely it has more. I'm summary, I agree that this video did a terrible job at showing unique and interesting gameplay apart from the animation. But give this game time to show us more before drawing conclusions
This easily is one of the most creative pieces of art I have ever seen, completely replicating the static sounds of 1940's cartoons, animation style, art design, it's incredible! Even the music fits! I'm completely stunned! If you'd have told me games would evolve into this as a child, I'd have been skeptical to say the least.
the art style: just like watching a classic cartoon the soundtrack: amazing the gameplay: runs like a charm and has a feel good vibe to it all in all I think this game has some serious potential to be a game that me and many others will sink many hours of our lives into seeking a fun and throwback to an old feeling cartoony platformer
Yo, everyone's talking about the gameplay, but I' more curious about the little coin-guy in the overworld. Just look at that palooka. He looks like he'll try to mug ya. Getting robbed BY money, that doesn't sound too right...
Finally an adult Mario. I love Mario but the kiddie shit gets on my brain. This game is going to be spooky and weird in a way that I can appreciate, also I like the shooting aspect of the gameplay.
This game looks like Disney, Rare, and Capcom came together to make a game. The art style is like old Disney, the gameplay is like mega man, and the platforming/layout is like the donkey king country series
"Pick up able" not bought power ups, sort of like how super Mario has magic stars and special caps that are grab-able on the run ... It would be sweet if this game had special kinks like that to give the player a temporary advantage over the AI
the artstyle is so nostalgic but initially i thought this'd be more of a casual game were you just breeze through the levels but i can see there's a bit of a challenge to it as well, the first level alone is pretty chaotic.. i love it! and i hope the rest of the levels will have more difficulty in them. this'll be the the second game i'll pre-order besides the dark souls series.
This game looks awesome! But the gameplay is just a little dull.... I dont know, maybe it would be better (and feel better) if cuphead was a meele hitter instead of just shoot with fingers. Still, I'm loving the game and I'm going to buy it first day, and let the judging for later.
I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the guy who said "I agree gameplay is boring". ..You can't say something like "gameplay is boring" if you've never PLAYED the GAME.
No, mate, again, I was talking to "mememachine" who said "I agree gameplay is boring." I don't know how to tell you that in any other language besides english.
Why can't we get licensed games from WB or Disney and get them to make their Games look EXACTLY like their cartoon shows. No, DUCKTALES doesn't cause it still doesn't look exactly like the show, looks great but not even close.
I'm not sure it's always about 'exclusive deals'. There's a lot of shit that can get in the way of a game working on non-native OSes. Switch seems to be extremely proprietary, requiring approval from Nintendo before they'll even give you an SDK.
I still have a lot of hopes for this game. I hope it releases. Looks and sounds FANTASTIC! And I'm glad they delayed it to give it more content instead of having it be another boss rush collection.
Jessica Steward yeah you could say that but from this clip one can already tell it's going to be a Megaman clone. A game's first level leaves an impression that could cause a player to continue or not. This level does not leave a positive impression. Also when exhibiting a game, a developer should show some of the best aspects and levels of their game in order to intise people. If this is one of their best levels this game might fall under the criteria I listed before. However, I could be wrong and it may be wholly better. I just don't want to join the hype train and receive an abysmal game.
YES! The sound sucks. I literally just watched an old tom and jerry clip to see if I was wrong. But no. The music is just the same up beat track for the whole level. Especially in the era of cartoons where there was little to no talking the sound really told the story. The game needs to at least slow down the song or something for when they fight the boss. Its just flat.
Travis Mcleod ikr. Was really dissapointed when i find out both ori and cuphead werent coming to the switch as these are the 2 games im most hyped for and the switch would be perfect for them.
They've gone for the same genre, but it seems to me like they've made their own choices. One which I'm particularly fond of is their willingness to alternate between "walking" levels and boss levels. That gives them a lot more room to shake up the gameplay with unique mechanics whenever things start to go stale.
Music, sound effects, visuals, everything is on point! I'm loving it. Gosh I would've killed for smth like this as a kid haha Side note, I'm happy this has a new game+ mode after completing the game.
The art style for this game is so damn cool, it's like watching the old Tex Avery cartoons again! I seriously hope there will be more games with this art style in the futire
The levels are short and few, and are a recent edition. The game was originally just a boss rush, but people wouldn't shut up so they added non-boss levels. Now people won't shut up about the non-boss levels.
Such a gorgeous presentation and such a lame shooting animation . I guess the red projectiles are slightly better, but straight blue laser is completely out of place and looks cheap, imo.
From what I've heard the red is weaker and doesn't go as far but hits more at once while the blue is a stronger hit so is more useful for bigger targets that don't move as much and when you don't want to be as close. You can switch between them for what the situation calls for.
On a second thought, these shooting projectiles do not clutter the screen much, which is probably what they were going after, so they might be a good choice.
For some reason I feel like there should be a weapon that makes them spit watermelon seeds.. I seem to recall a LOT of old cartoon characters doing that for some reason. The sound would be funny as well.
Shining Fractal My thoughts exactly. From a purely aesthetic (not performance) perspective, it creates a weird dissonance between the smooth frame rate and the beautiful noise and slight blur of the visuals. Lack of motion blur loses the old school 1930s toon reel mimesis. 30fps would give it a more "film like" patina.
Shining Fractal all the animations are 24fps. It's just the game play at 60fps, and it would make your brain hurt with so much going on on the screen if it was less than 60fps.
Sebastian Pinaud Framerate is fine at 60 if it's still animated "on threes", which for 60fps is technically "on eights." All of those old toons were filmed at a higher framerate than they were animated at, it just means that they switched animation cels every three frames instead of every frame. Would be the same animation timing at 60 or 24 fps. And for a game, 60 means more responsive gameplay and better reaction times.
The Joker As someone who considers themselves a retro gamer, I have to agree with OP. I don't think it works well as a shooter. Even if they did want to go with a Metal Slug style, they would have to really up the sound effects and shooting animations in order to make it satisfying. As for the levels themselves... to me, unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any clever designs or obstacles here. Unlike Mega Man X or Shovel Knight, for example, most of the enemies seem to just be clustered around the player with little logic behind their placements. But I might still pick this up. Looks like some fun for a bit, and who knows: maybe my opinions will change once I actually get to play it!
don't-feed-ben Hey man at least its better than when they first announced it. This game was meant to be just STRICTLY boss battles. They need about 6-8 more months to get this whole adventure thing down.
Wow, they really put in some fantastic work into this. The look is so authentic. I had a thought that I think would be really cool, but might be extremely difficult to implement: animation during this time was often synced with music to the extent that often features of the music were used as sound effects to punctuate action (called "mickey mousing" for obvious reasons). Maybe if the music was layered in such a way that different "sound effect" tracks can be faded in at the right time to coincide with enemy movement or maybe like a boss battle where the boss has a predictable pattern that syncs with the music.
1010010101010011001/10 console peasants and pc master race are fucking awesome they are equally powerful and will be a fucking prophecy from god himself.
Visually unique is an understatement. I don't think I've seen anything like that before, and I love it. Maybe we'll get more games with this aesthetic, it looks gorgeous. Not necessarily that I'd play this one, I don't like arcade-style stuff.
They've been working on this game for a while... Like 2 or 3 years maybe, at least when it was first announced. Even though they're taking their sweet time on it, I love how it just keeps looking better and better every time they show it off.
it's pretty cool to think how this game is a representation of human progress in the last 100 years, in that we have developed technology which precisely simulates what animators used to do by hand
That awkward moment when player 2 is better than you.
player two is and always the best. Luigi is proof
Cran The man Player 1 showed the typical level of skill that a member of the gaming press has. Which is to say zero. Player two was probably one of the devs.
He wasnt that bad my dude. He didnt die in the 1st level at all. The polygon Doom thing was over a year ago please chill
rainbow_lizard and gamergate was over three years ago. War never changes but the tools and methods do.
Player 2 had god mode on.
Look at the health bar
And it never changes when he gets hit
I'm totally buying this, the graphcis are so good and the animation, and everything was hand-drawn, who's gonna buy with me?!!!
DIRETOR DA ESCOLINHA LOKA I definitely will be buying the game at launch!!!
DIRETOR DA ESCOLINHA LOKA preordered the day it went up!
DIRETOR DA ESCOLINHA LOKA it's not the graphics it's the artstyle that you like.
I already preordered when they first announced the date finally
DIRETOR DA ESCOLINHA LOKA already preordered
This soundtrack needs to be on vinyl! Perfect opportunity!
It actually will be physically
Mike Matza It will! Haha
Mike Matza you can pre-order a super fancy one on I Am 8-bit, but it's expensive. Hoping for a less expensive one later down the line.
Mike Matza
Mike Matza trust me, itll happen

I wont be calling Metal Slug series simple if I were you. Except you're maybe Scrooge McDuck?
Thank you! This is exactly how I think as well.
its a good game, but saying that a game doesnt try to do anything new in its gameplay is a valid criticism
this is actually very charming...
The animation and gameplay is looking so much smoother and redefined compared to the previous showings, originally only wanted this game because of it's unique artstyle but ow it genuinely looks like a fun (if somewhat difficult) game.
"These bosses look soooo easy! I bet I can beat them on my first try!" - People who then get their asses destroyed on the first try
maybe the game will have dificulty levels?
It does, but if you want to get the soul contracts you need to play them on regular difficulty
oh, thats too bad, i dont like it when games force you to finish them in lower dificulty levels before getting to the hardest mode
it doesnt let you finish the game if you play on easy
Orion GG How is expert mode unlockable?
Imagine someone attempting a no kill run on this level
The same i thought
Sounds like something I would do haha
A no HIT run
i dont see the difficulty being 1st lvl
Then you might not have seen many Contra games, which this seems very similar too.
Yeah. You got to give them credit they putting in the work
His name is Mac... And he's an Apple... Clever
absolutely
This is a very important piece of art. Never have I ever imagined that this cartoon style art form would show up as a video game. This is going to break the grounds of art history and video media all around!
I still want a physical release. I'm obsessed with having something to display on my shelf.
anajjar456 Exactly.
anajjar456 i hate physical releases. Having to change disks all the time is annoying and unnecessary. Plus I have other things for decorations. My games are hidden behind a cabinet door. But that’s just me
anajjar456 go fuck yourshelf
adorable
suprflyification Yeah, real mature of you.
I do not know why people are complaining that this game already looks easy the last boss fight actually looks really good and challenging especially with only one player

I think this game looks challenging and awesome. I do think the Revive system looks a little easy on co-op though
I think people are also forgetting that these are very first bosses of a set of 30. If people think the beginner bosses look easy, the ones you find at the end will surely be more challenging.
I would agree but the revived player only comes back with 1 hp and the only way I could think of making it harder would be having it borrow from the saving players hp pool or super counter.

the concept of this game its like ori and blind forest , its an ART
I really hope they have some sort of insanity mode
One of the few games I've pre-ordered. Support these developers for there hard work :)
If they make a physical version I already said to my self will buy it so far its digital only atm since its only 20bucks
I hope they do, would buy in a heartbeat. Games like this don't come around often and if we want to see more like this IT NEEDS TO SELL WELL.
UCFilms ohohoho preordered?! Hope you can still play videogames when your 90 years old!
Sure.
Hopalong Cassidy halp-- I don't get it
Is it bad that Cuphead is one of the main reasons I want to buy an Xbox One X?
Joseph Taylor same man
Joseph Taylor no I am with you it looks nice
It will be available on steam ( PC ) ... you won't need a monster PC to run this
i got steam for the game
Not only for this one, but of course this one is coming first.
I want the soundtrack on Spotify so i can listen to it while playing Fallout.
hYBRYDcOBRA or have a mix of cuphead and fallout music
Reminder: MDHR has denied using their soundtrack on let's plays and videos
MrPhantaze When did they say that?...
It reads on their website, the video policy
Oops, read the section wrong. It can be used, but it says that Specific permission is required for any soundtrack use outside of captured gameplay.
1000% respect for the animators.
Going to get this game on the PC I love the art style for this game very 1950s Just a perfect change to today's video games
the art style is more like 1920/1930's, early Disney animations.
max fleicher not disney
Balnazzardi the age is correct but it wasnt from disney, remember the company success is due of copypaste from others
Sir Dopy Cube 1930s*
If you want to be a smart ass learn to spell Max Fleischer right, please.
If you like co-op platformers, side-scrolling, shoot em' up or beat em' up console video games like this try:
-Cuphead
-Donkey Kong Country
-Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game
-The Simpsons Arcade
-Castle Crashers
-Alien Hominid
-TMNT IV: Turtles in Time Or TMNT 1989 Arcade
-Rayman Origins
-Rayman Legends
-Metal Slug (any)
-Streets of Rage 2
Super ghouls and ghost , metal slug and shovel knight :) also more cuphead. And mega man 🙄
AstroFalcon09 Lol forgot all about Metal Slug and that's one of my favs SMH.
PowerL1N3 i hope this game has a one hit mode for the insane platformer pros.
AstroFalcon09 I agree because it's going to kill me if this thing doesn't have an ultra hard mode. I need the challenge when it comes to a platformer.
Why yes, I like Cuphead. I shall certainly give "Cuphead" a go.
Wonder how many smashed controllers this game will be responsible for?
captain9fingers lmao depends on how hard its gonna be. We'll see.
Krondo 17 dis only the tutorial stage boi
No way, thats going to be the most BS game ever. Gonna preorder asap
are you kidding me this game looks easy as fuck
+harvey evers "are you kidding me this game looks easy as fuck" That's because they're playing some levels on easy (simple) you fuck.
One of the most original pieces of art I've seen across the entertainment spectrum in the 2010s. Looks GREAT.
I love the design of the stage with the Frogs. I mean, the battle looks pretty intense already, but the background is so busy, with flies dancing, serving food, watching the fight, and so on... The attention to detail is stunning.
This looks really good. Glad to see my initial good impressions of the game look like they're going to be correct.
More mega Man than mighty no. 9 and with a badass art style
This looks like a LSD trip mixed with contra and looney toons
El Mooo and Mario
Jack Gladney He just giving facts, nothing wrong with that
it dose have some nods to some contra games, the zeplin boss can turn into Gemini, Sagittarius, and tarsus, just like on of Contra Hard cops bosses
well, old cartoons from the 1st half of XX century were very... LSDy. Some betty boop cartoons were even nightmarish, lol
El Mooo It's Tunes. Tunes!
I've been waiting so long for this game! The music, setting, visuals....everything. So awesome.
Gonna be getting that soundtrack day 1👌
Justin Mallon this goes to show that graphics aren't everything
These graphics are great, what're you talking about?
Austin Workman Exactly, this game looks beautiful
Old Man: What's with these new-fangled cartoons these days?! I remember Steamboat Willy and Popeye the Sailor Man! The good old days!
(Old Man plays Cuphead)
Old Man: ..... What's with these old-fangled cartoons back then?! I want more Gravity Falls and Reg'lar Show! The good new days!

Revolva Ravo yeeaaaa I kinda find the first few levels a lil fun is there a problem with that
Shut up and take my money and my time :D
And my soul! O_O
Yoko San and my axe
Yoko San my vigirnity too

so... 1940's megaman?
FATLACES THEDON More like 1930's Megaman!
Comment so informative you had to post it three times.
FATLACES THEDON 1930's Contra/Mega Man
More like 40's Contra!
Or 40's Gunstar Heroes.
The new Epic Mickey looks great.
a ToonItUp ecks dee
Yo, everyone's talking about the gameplay, but I' more curious about the little coin-guy in the overworld. Just look at that palooka. He looks like he'll try to mug ya. Getting robbed BY money, that doesn't sound too right...
YOU MEAN THIS DUDE PASSED THE TUTORIAL
WOW
SPECTACULAIRE
RENVERSANT
The music... the style.. the sounds! Amazing!
Finally an adult Mario. I love Mario but the kiddie shit gets on my brain. This game is going to be spooky and weird in a way that I can appreciate, also I like the shooting aspect of the gameplay.
Who would want modern day of VecterMan
I would like to see tom & jerry game with this oldschool style from 60-80s, that would be awesome
The visuals are gorgeous! It looks like a handdrawn animation!
This game looks like Disney, Rare, and Capcom came together to make a game. The art style is like old Disney, the gameplay is like mega man, and the platforming/layout is like the donkey king country series
Pick up able power ups and specials are all this game needs and it will be complete, looks great as it is now though
Kieth Woodard its a sort of shop with a pig in it
"Pick up able" not bought power ups, sort of like how super Mario has magic stars and special caps that are grab-able on the run ... It would be sweet if this game had special kinks like that to give the player a temporary advantage over the AI
Kieth Woodard I get you
Kieth Woodard How about requiring pure skill?Thats better.
Can I play this in black/white and at 30fps?
Pixel_Crusher There is a black and white mode
This game looks fun and cute af tbh
"Watch us play through a tough section of Cuphead"
"Tough section"
It's literally the first goddamn level!
This legit looks very promising.
I've also heard that each frame is hand-drawn, which is a clear pointer to the developers' hard work and creativity.
The red cuphead on the thumpnail looks like Mikey Mouse
Christian Moser well, duh! that's the point!
Mickey Mouse except not Mickey Mouse
Christian Moser That was the cartoon style in the 30s
Helispark lol. Mickey Mouse not Mickey Mouse? Oh right, got it
Christian Moser No shit.
cobweb hotel
it's like a combination of Mario and metal slug
7:01 - Ornstein and Smough also that "Thank you" sound is hilarious.
3:49 is were i start bleeding from my ears, the soundtrack is beyond stunning
deadly army ^
and Cuphead Get Ship with Bendy From BATM by Famdoms....
Under 342 fandoms are weird, but its nice that they put oswald the lucky rabbit in some fanart of bendy
Hopefully they won't do that.
Under 342 kill me..
Please tell me this is gonna come to the switch in the future
No, Microsoft exclusive.
Not really microsoft exclusive, if it's on steam though.
Simon Schandorff Xbox console exclusive. It will be on Linux, Mac, windows, Android even maybe. But not PS4 or Switch
Maybe Cuphead 3 or 4.
I feel like if they have contractual obligations they'd be in for at least a sequel if the debut makes big bucks.
2 boys 1 cup
BJK 1903 oh
there's alot of thought put into old style cartoons as of late. love it.
every new piece of media i see for this game pumps me up SO MUCH i cant freaking wait

André Pilon there are no XBX enhancements.
I think there is.
How can you enhance this kind of art style? This game will look and play great on both 1080p and 4K :)
come on guys... he was clearly taking the piss...
or hes a total idiot i dunno..
the artstyle is so nostalgic but initially i thought this'd be more of a casual game were you just breeze through the levels but i can see there's a bit of a challenge to it as well, the first level alone is pretty chaotic.. i love it! and i hope the rest of the levels will have more difficulty in them. this'll be the the second game i'll pre-order besides the dark souls series.
Gonna have to add this to my wish list. The sound design is awesome. Love the use of big band.
This game looks awesome!
But the gameplay is just a little dull.... I dont know, maybe it would be better (and feel better) if cuphead was a meele hitter instead of just shoot with fingers. Still, I'm loving the game and I'm going to buy it first day, and let the judging for later.
Yea but you've never played it
You've played it already! I'm jealous!
Oh wait, you haven't you say? You're just talking out of your ass you say?
shame.
I wasn't talking to you, I was talking to the guy who said "I agree gameplay is boring".
..You can't say something like "gameplay is boring" if you've never PLAYED the GAME.
And you said I was talking out of my ass
No, mate, again, I was talking to "mememachine" who said "I agree gameplay is boring."
I don't know how to tell you that in any other language besides english.

I really hope this is gonna be on the switch, I think it would be a great addition
It won't, it is exclusive to Microsoft consoles. You can also get it on PC, though.
Thomas Ruth yeah I saw, thanks anyways. Don't you agree that it would've been a great game for the switch though, cuphead on the go!
Yeah, it would have been fun on the go, but I'm kinda glad Microsoft is getting another exclusive.
I have been waiting for this game for YEARS. I am SO excited.
Honestly, the bosses are really cool, the graphics rock, and the soundtrack is kickass but the actual gameplay looks very very boring and uninspired.
CommunistRaccoonDog This is world one. It's designed to ease you into the game.
CommunistRaccoonDog I get what you're saying. Except I see it as more of a megaman inspired contra game.
CommunistRaccoonDog
CommunistRaccoonDog Megaman? I'd say it's more along the lines of Metal Slug
Everything is spot on. Except the sound effects, they are either non-existent, too quiet, or just bad... They need to be more punchy and slapstick-ish
Man but the jazz
Taterdude Guy I want something like looneytunes
Its just flat.
but ear fatigue
Taterdude Guy this are 1930s cartoons style not 80s-90s style dipshit
Wasn't this supposed to come out during the Greek occupation of egypt?
7:04 Are those the battletoads? :O
This genuinely looks like a good time.
And I haven't been able to say that for many games..
Big mistake not being on switch. That's the number one platformers install base!
Travis Mcleod ikr. Was really dissapointed when i find out both ori and cuphead werent coming to the switch as these are the 2 games im most hyped for and the switch would be perfect for them.
They may do it once it sells enough copies so that they can port it to the switch.
Pc yes Switch no
Raptorian It is coming to PC. It's already on steam and GOG for preorder
Lmao
So they made Metal Slug... Huh...
And Metal Slug was pretty much derivative of the Contra games, your point?
They've gone for the same genre, but it seems to me like they've made their own choices. One which I'm particularly fond of is their willingness to alternate between "walking" levels and boss levels. That gives them a lot more room to shake up the gameplay with unique mechanics whenever things start to go stale.
I think microsoft shoupd delay this game for some improvements
They've delayed the game enough, it is coming out this year.
Music, sound effects, visuals, everything is on point! I'm loving it. Gosh I would've killed for smth like this as a kid haha
Side note, I'm happy this has a new game+ mode after completing the game.
The art style for this game is so damn cool, it's like watching the old Tex Avery cartoons again! I seriously hope there will be more games with this art style in the futire
This feels like their is a very satanic evil vibe around it. Like bendy and the ink machine.
yea there is some type of subliminal message going on which some old cartoons had I think.
Mosswine Yeah like in the Old Mickey Mouse cartoons.
Donkey Kong Well, the game *is* called Cuphead: Don't Deal with the Devil, so
Maragoras Yeah, I don't do that fuck shit
Donkey Kong Well in 1 trailer it shows that Cuphead and Mugman made a deal with the devil and now must do his bidding!
The bosses look fun but the levels look jammed and boring they should of made the levels short with a cool boss at the end
The levels are short and few, and are a recent edition. The game was originally just a boss rush, but people wouldn't shut up so they added non-boss levels. Now people won't shut up about the non-boss levels.
Thomas Ruth fans are never satisfied
I agree Futile Villain, although I'm kinda glad they did add the non-boss levels, cause they do look fun.
I have the game now the levels are just hard
The non boss ones
Still better than play COD..
Tony Valdez agree
That looks so awesome. I didn't know about this game up until now; and I'm glad I clicked on this video
I'm not one to typically play side scrollers, but this looks really fun. It's pleasing to watch
Why would they make this exclusive for a console that has half the sales and player base of the competition?
It's not exclusive it's on steam and windows 10 as well.
Rom, the Vacuous Spider because they couldn't have made the game without Microsoft funding it
Microsoft funded it.
Well, Sony weren't fast enough to fund this game... you snooze you lose.
Bcs is trash
Such a gorgeous presentation and such a lame shooting animation . I guess the red projectiles are slightly better, but straight blue laser is completely out of place and looks cheap, imo.
From what I've heard the red is weaker and doesn't go as far but hits more at once while the blue is a stronger hit so is more useful for bigger targets that don't move as much and when you don't want to be as close. You can switch between them for what the situation calls for.
I meant that red projectile is better in terms of presentation, but your clarification is insightful, thanks!
They probably do shoot liquid, yeah)
On a second thought, these shooting projectiles do not clutter the screen much, which is probably what they were going after, so they might be a good choice.
For some reason I feel like there should be a weapon that makes them spit watermelon seeds.. I seem to recall a LOT of old cartoon characters doing that for some reason. The sound would be funny as well.
This looks like one of those games that will get a horrible cancerous fanbase.
Hopefully not but possibly
I second that
Grigori Rasputin like undertale rofl
This game already had something much worse introduced to it.
Look up 'Dean Cuphead'.
Oh trust me it is gonna get one
Finally some good gameplay. Like Contra with dashing and at least here you have a health bar and super, before one hit you're dead in Contra
Watching this after the Gamesbeat (Dean Takahashi) gameplay is truly cathartic.
This game needs at least one blackface boss.
sjws will go crazy.
yes
"SJWs will go crazy" lmao. More like not everyone is an edgy teenager. Black face was in 11 out of hundreds of WB cartoons.
It really doesn't.
More like not everyone can take a joke.
Though I love the style I just feel that 60 fps is actually a blemish. It looks too fluid for the style.
Looked fine to me.
Not Andrew You just pulled those facts out of your ass
Interesting style and whatnot - but the game looks boring.
I totally agree.
I disagree but your opinion is respectable. I don't think you're really into retro games and retro platformers in general.
The Joker I really like platformer games and pixel art but the game apart from it's visual aspect seems kinda lame
They need about 6-8 more months to get this whole adventure thing down.
i just pre-bought this on steam while watching this video. This looks flippin amazing!
Wow, they really put in some fantastic work into this. The look is so authentic.
I
had a thought that I think would be really cool, but might be extremely difficult to implement: animation during this time was often synced with music to the extent that often features of the music were used as sound effects to punctuate action (called "mickey mousing" for obvious reasons).
Woltron X
just because i have a pc doesnt mean im a virgin, you dont even know if im a virgin or not lmao
Woltron X you got a pc and took time out of your day to say "console peasants below me"
yup ;)
Woltron X well, having a console doesn't mean you're a peasant. You can have a console and be rich as fuck. You're stupid
I don't really understand the hype behind this game. Its visually unique but the game play is literally just a worse version of metal slug...
theansweris421 true maybe theyll change it when it comes out
Eh, more closer to Megaman with a bit of Contra mixed in.
Visually unique is an understatement. I don't think I've seen anything like that before, and I love it. Maybe we'll get more games with this aesthetic, it looks gorgeous. Not necessarily that I'd play this one, I don't like arcade-style stuff.
Agreed the gameplay looks boring and generic af but I'm hoping there's more to the game.
Then don't play it. lol
This game is a breath of fresh air, only couple more weeks left.
This game Looks amazing, im talking about the graphics, I love vintage looking things like this and this game is unique and im in love.
