Awesome, thanks! I've just harvested a bunch of nettle leaves for the first time. I barely made the season before the flowers came and I was so mad at myself because earlier I could've harvested bags and bags of the stuff without moving an inch. It grows so thick here in Ireland. I dehydrated the leaves and have been enjoying using them like spinach in homemade backpacking meals. I'm so glad to now know that I can use the seeds too!! And you're right, that is a BEAUTIFUL baby. Much love to you both!
I have plenty around in my garden thank you for sharing this lovely information you have a new subscriber keep smiling and keep posting new videos have a blessed week ahead ❤🇬🇧🇬🇧👍👌
I have just found your channel x thank you so much for all the info on the wonderful nettle x ps congratulations on your beautiful baby. I'm looking forward to making my way through the videos x
Have cut some last week although they were a bit brown Hope they are ok I have left them hanging in greenhouse because it was raining Will bring them in today and use an embroidery hoop with cloth for a drying device It works for other things Fingers crossed!
Nutritional super food seed stored in a trip choc ice cream tub 😂 enjoyed the video though and I live close to woodland with a lot of nettles so will definitely be harvesting some seeds. 😁
@@WoodlandClassroom there is indeed. I was in whitby this week and was walking with the family and introduced them the the whole male and female nettle seeds and picked a few as we went. The family just nodded and smiled at me like I'd lost the plot 😆
Started growing them last year after not being able to find them. Strange because when I was a boy they were everywhere. Glad you pointed out the male vs female seed heads. Many do not. Throw away the male seed heads or as in your video, I see you used them in your fertilizer soup.
Ty, love accent, so informative i just harvested , cant wait to try in my cooking, realizing we xan google verything we put in our mouths and counter attack what rhis mass mess of fast foods and crap we all have been trained to eat.
Hi Lea. Thanks for your fantastic videos. We harvested some of these plants yesterday (thanks to you!) as we noticed their seeds. We took them this early as I feared the parks keepers would cut them back. Can we use the leaves for tea? I'm not sure if the flowering occurred or not. 😊
hello a friend told me about this plant and I wanted to ask you a couple of questions, I have a stuffy nose everyday all day long and I want to try it to see if it helps with my stuffy nose but I wanted to ask if you can tell me how much and how many times a day I'm supposed to take this and for how long I can take this tea
Is the green dust smaller than the average seed that comes away with the seed from the wispy seed stalks, something that is ok to harvest too or should you try to sieve this dust away?
Hi just found your channel and love it! I have a bit of a silly question probably. Do I need to worry about fox’s peeing on the seeds or no? Because I know when picking berries to only pick ones high up - do I need to worry for picking these seeds near foxes?
I would just use common sense here. Pick seeds which are not directly on any path or through way for animals. If they look damaged or sodden, avoid those. You can always wash them to be extra sure but do dry them out fully before storing them otherwise they will go mouldy.
I’ve got a question for you! Drying the nettle seeds out like this, would they be viable to plant later on, or for spring the next year if there’s any left?
Mine have male and female. It must vary from different plants. I've heard from other videos that there were male and female plants but Dina Falconi's video explained the plants she showed had male flowers and female seed pods. I haven't checked wood neetles yet to see what they do.
I am convinced that man can live to 120 without sickness or disease if he is raised in the right environment and eats the proper wild edibles. But the problem is pollution is everywhere except maybe in a few cold regions of the world but those places do not have the wild edibles.
No wonder I have never seen any seeds in my stinging nettle, and my moms plant has lots of seeds, which I collect some of her seeds.funny thing is that we bought our plants in the same place, but they didn't mention anything about male and female plants. I will be planting some of my moms stalks so I can have both.
Yes, I guess it's too niche a subject for general audiences. But I think there's a lot of people this subject would speak to who don't otherwise know about it.
Yes the leaves are excellent but only if picked before the plant goes to seed. Leaves are a spring wild food where as the seeds are a summer wild food 😄
I REALLY loved your video. Very informative. Cept. How you damaged the nettle plant by cutting it. And taking all the seeds from the stalks and leaving none for them to grow more . Nor left any for the wild birds and animals that forage on those seeds themselves. Cutting the plant as you did damages it. You could have harvested some seeds from each plant . Even if theyre in your own garden, the birds were prolly looking forward to them. Just think people need to harvest reasonably. And share with the wild the fruits the plants give.
Seriously appreciate but do NOT pity nettles! On my farm Nettles are both incredibly invasive taking over expansive patches of yards & pastures as well as ditches & woods where nothing but wild critters can get to them. also their stings cause their share of suffering to humans all summer...i have mowed them weeded them & my horses have eatten them for 30 years yet i have NEVER come close to running OUT of nettles!!
@@cyninshadows7041Nettles might be prolific in your environs but not anymore in other places, which I have noticed in my own locality in general. Also having so many nettles means that there must be many butterflies in your location, with nettles being vital for the caterpillars of some types of butterflies, to flourish so you’re lucky! Maybe you could offer some of those patches of nettles to foragers who will make good use of them..

Thank you so much for such an interesting and informative video.
Also I find it very relaxing to watch. Look forward to trying the nettles. ❤Jill
So happy to have found your channel!
Thanks very much
I use the nettle leaves and stems with banana skins. Together, they make fantastic fertiliser.
Thanks for sharing this video. I now have to harvest my Nettle and seeds. Sevan Douzmanian Melbourne Australia.👍👍👍
good luck - just check it's the same species of plant over there as in the UK 👍
You can also use the stems of the nettle to make garden twine.

Great advice for people who need an energy boost n striving for quality n better health 😊
Excellent video, thanks for sharing❤🎉😊
Interesting and informative. Can you eat seeds directly from the plant without drying?
yes that's fine, they just don't keep long without being dried
Love it! Thank you so much!
thank you for watching
Thanks for the great info. Would they dry if they were hung up in bunches? Your baby is so cute. 👶🏻
Yes they would, but the seeds may fall off if they get knocked and you don’t want to loose those precious seeds 😌
Excellent stuff 😊

What time of year did you harvest ?
Hello it was August when we filmed this, but this year the seeds seem to be out earlier. They re good now.
@@WoodlandClassroomhello. How much did you need to last you a whole year? I am interested in the seeds for a tea. 🙏🏽
Hi Lea. Thanks for your fantastic videos. We harvested some of these plants yesterday (thanks to you!) as we noticed their seeds. We took them this early as I feared the parks keepers would cut them back. Can we use the leaves for tea? I'm not sure if the flowering occurred or not. 😊
Yes the younger nettle leaves, found at the tops, are the best for tea. Happy foraging and thanks for the feedback.
Hi and thanks for your video. What can you do with the green dusty chaff that you get when you shake the seeds thru the sieve?
Lovely video, thank you
Thank you
Great stuff, would it be possible to dry out the seeds in an oven on the lowest setting.
Great video! Thank you!!!
Lovely video thank you! Could I pop the stalks in the instant pot dehydrator?
we've not tried that ourselves. Give it a go with a small amount and see what you get.

Have you ever made flour with the seeds?
No I've never done that. Have you? How did it turn out?
On my weetabix in the morning, very helpful thanks.

Can I dry in a dehydrator?
yes that would work
Are the male flower seeds toxic ! I think I mixed up a few
I don't think so, I believe they are safe :-)
Can I sow these seeds ?
I’ve got a question for you! Drying the nettle seeds out like this, would they be viable to plant later on, or for spring the next year if there’s any left?
What month are you talking about ?
HI Lisa - the seeds are typically harvested in high summer, so July to August
Hi Can I make tea with the leaves when in flower
Will they grow if planted?
Good question, we've never tried it
I had no idea nettles have male and female plants. This explains some mysteries I have had here. Thank you
I didn't know either. I'm learning something new about this herb 🌿 plant.
❤

You say to put it on everything but is there a recommended dosage please.
A teaspoon a day is the recommended dose
Some damp areas you need to watch out for the aphids when collecting the female stinging nettle
good to know, thanks
I use this mixed whit caffeine or DMAA as pre-work

Also processed food which is pure poison imo. I note cancer is a new disease.. 100 years ago there was barely any. I so wonder if the two are related.
Big pharma , Big food, big government..mRNA vaccines
I just started a tincture with the seeds but I didn't separate them from the stalk and husk, would that be okay.
Can you hang the stocks to dry them
How long do they take to dry naturally
Around 3 days
What about Spring leaves? Will they cause irritation?
Either heat or bruising will get rid of the stinging hairs. Blanche, cook or smash them up.

Can you dry the seeds in a hydrator?
You can but to be honest they dry out really easily on newspaper in a day or two
@@natureisallpowerful thank you
Hey how many seeds could I eat a day?!
Ouch! I’d wear long sleeves! 😊
So, if you eat fresh and dry Nettle seeds do you still get stang in the mouth or throat? How to avoid it, can it pose any danger?
Thanks for the video and send me some products.
Do you have these seeds for sale?
What do they taste like ?
Not a lot really, pleasant enough, maybe a bit nutty. Used more for nutrition than taste. I like them though.
Many stinging nettel plant in my garden ..India..m.p..district.barwani..sendhwa
Its amazing how many foraging and natural living channels are run by English people on UA-cam and yet on TV there is nothing on the subject.
Yes, I guess it's too niche a subject for general audiences. But I think there's a lot of people this subject would speak to who don't otherwise know about it.
@@WoodlandClassroom Maybe its best that way. We don't need millions of people foraging everything in the forest... there wouldn't be much left.
Why not use an air fryer to dehydrate the nettles just like herbs are?
interesting. We don't have one, but worth trying if you do
Wow this would be better than taking manufactured vitamins.
yep
What I learned from this video: If I eat nettle seeds every day for a year I will get improved vision, my hair will go blonde, and I'll sprout a baby.
you say you shouldn't use the leaves? but many people use the leaves for tea every day?
Yes the leaves are excellent but only if picked before the plant goes to seed. Leaves are a spring wild food where as the seeds are a summer wild food 😄
Pentru ceai din frunze de urzici,se folosesc de la planta tânără,se culeg înainte de a face semințe,din luna martie până în luna iunie. Multă sănătate

How do we know what time of year your talking about? 😂
Can kidney failure dialysis patient eat nettle seed? Tks
I would consult a qualified herbalist before taking any action. Good luck.
I have heard that you can use a fork to pull the seeds off is this ok
Yes that sounds like it would work, I will need to try it and see if it’s any faster 🧐
