  • A journey along the Strathspey railway in Scotland from Aviemore through to Broomhill via Boat of Garten on Wednesday the 8th of May. Sadly, the Steam engine wasn't running, but instead, a class 31 D5862 (TOPs number 31327) was in charge of the train. D5862 was the last class 31 built, being built in 1962 a Brush Traction in Loughborough. The loco was based in the BR Eastern Region and named “Phillip’s Imperial” in 1987. was withdrawn in 1990 and preserved in 2001. The loco came to the line in 2003. At the end of the video, while passing through the station later that day, I spotted the Royal Scotsmen luxury train, which was also pulled by class 31 after swapping engines from class 66.
