This episode definitely deserves a remaster. Especially with how far Death Battle has come with their animation. Imagine the potential with this notably more destruction. :D

Godzilla vs biollante didn't start to become more popular until years later but at the time of its release it was hated the film is basically a example of a good work of fiction that was made in a different time that didn't accept it for what it was. Godzilla vs destroyah or godzilla vs biollante or godzilla are regarded as the best of the era. The heisei era didn't become a "cash grab" by modernizing classic characters MOST franchises literally do that all the time 🙄 why else do you think movie franchises exist to this day?. Studios will modernize characters or bring classic ones back to gain attention. That's literally how most franchises do things it's nothing new. By your logic the entire godzilla franchise is a cash grab since it modernizes alot of classic monsters. Godzilla was a metaphor for the nuclear bomb, a seemingly unstoppable force of destruction at the time. Therefore his abilities took on similar unstoppable qualities.
He’s actually based more on nuclear energy/natural disasters in general. The original Godzilla is actually almost directly inspired by a US bomb testing that took place off the coast of Japan where a fishing boat and all of it’s passengers were irradiated because of it. This is seen when a near identical event happens in the movie, only instead of a bomb it’s Godzilla
They actually used it, yes. And there are lot of stupid things there... 1. No burning in the atmosphere. 2. Dropkick was not to ground, but to WATER... *facepalm* 3. WHY Gamera even did this, if she could just leave Godzilla on a high orbit for death without air??? ...In the end, dropkick to the sun could be much better scenario.
I was actually hoping to see that move in King of the Monsters. Like maybe not sliding across the city, but Godzilla uses his tail as a spring to dropkick Ghidorah in the chest.

@@huss4r1813 Primal Groudon is 14’09 in games and I couldn’t find anything about how big Groudon is in the anime but from a short on youtube Primal Groudon sees to be about the size of a small hill/mountain. So I’m pretty sure at best Groudon would reach to around Legendary Godzilla’s hip at best unless that was a mountain but Groudon would still be much smaller.

I'm so glad this episode holds up. I'm in the process of ranking every episode and because of that I'm revisiting a lot of old episodes. This episode in particular holds a really special place in my heart, I remember actually watching this with my grandma who was a huge fan of Godzilla and enjoying the fight with her. It's been about 8 years since I've seen this fight, and it has aged really well with how entertaining the analysis is, the amazing fight, and hell even the animation isn't *that* bad. So glad I got the opportunity to revisit Godzilla vs Gamera, and I can't wait to see what tops my current #1

you know what these guys didn't and probably still don't realize about some of Goji's "abilities" from the 70's specifically is that it all was inspired by Gamera which is why that second half to the Showa Era Toho made Goji child friendly, actually it started in 69 but yeah that version of it was directly influenced by the Gamera movies back then

This video was the very first Death Battle video I had ever watched, and because of it I got into the Death Battle series. What's more, thanks to Death Battle I was able to keep moving forward when I struggled with life, especially when the COVID-19 pandemic had occurred. Godzilla 1998 was the terrible movie we all want to forget. Godzilla the Series expanded the lore for that world and showed how cool Zilla can actually be with Jr.

Gamera isn't the only monster that protects humans. There's also Mothra and Mechagodzilla, and those monsters have even beaten Godzilla on a few occasions.
Fun fact! GvG went through editorial hell, it first appeared live at sgc and due to bens computer dying they had to preform it live, then they recorded it again to put on UA-cam but that was also lost. So they had to record it again a third time. At this point in db history broomstick’s voice was very taxing on chad and he had to survive on honey and tea for sgc. So boomstick lines feel alittle tiring here compared to the other recordings.
I'm pretty sure that was suppose to be a piece of a building. Implying it was already destroyed by Godzilla. The animator at the time just didn't make it the right size. Just look at it. Does it look like a building?

You maybe right but there is one ability Shin Godzilla has that makes him stronger than other Godzilla/Gojira incarnations, adaptation, at 3rd form when Godzilla was overheating he came back to the ocean and make himself to have a cooling ability, so if Shin went through many battles and one give him an adaptation to become observant and when he face slattern he would be like "O he's bigger than me, o he's got tails that has sharp ends, o he's got electricity" All Shin would observe to slattern since he attain the adaptation to become observant he will just adapt to become bigger, electricity-proof and either armoured or whatever can stop slattern's tail from damaging him (also note that the adaptation of becoming observant of shin is an IF scenario, and for bunkerbuster bombs, Shin just adapt to stop them hitting him, when he saw that the bunkerbuster bombs where from the planes he adapts and shoots out purple-laser thingy at his dorsal fins (give me a minute.............didn't think enough to make a name for that) that hits any planes hovering over him). It's just "ADAPTATION" for Shin Godzilla, still my favorite is Godzilla 2014.

All i know about Shin's 5th evolution is his tail, it was about to form a head but Shin was immobilized, after that a (i think about weeks or months) bunch of Humanoid creatures emerges from his tail that was i think it's is his fifth form. I think they get the idea of Shin Flying is the jets flying above him (o boy) and when you though of that he really is becoming ok? There are many things wrong with their feet’s. They compared a 60m Gamera’s weight to a 108m Godzilla’s weight. Godzilla is far from slow. Godzilla vs Megaguirus-Godzilla was faster than a monster that breaks the barrier of sound when moving. In Godzilla: Final Wars, Godzilla traveled pretty much the entire world defeating all sorts of monsters in less than a week. It’s still a good fight.

GvG went through editorial hell, it first appeared live at sgc and due to bens computer dying they had to preform it live, then they recorded it again to put on UA-cam but that was also lost. So they had to record it again a third time. At this point in db history broomstick’s voice was very taxing on chad and he had to survive on honey and tea for sgc. So boomstick lines feel alittle tiring here compared to the other recordings.

You maybe right but there is one ability Shin Godzilla has that makes him stronger than other Godzilla/Gojira incarnations, adaptation, at 3rd form when Godzilla was overheating he came back to the ocean and make himself to have a cooling ability, so if Shin went through many battles and one give him an adaptation to become observant and when he face slattern he would be like "O he's bigger than me, o he's got tails that has sharp ends, o he's got electricity" All Shin would observe to slattern since he attain the adaptation to become observant he will just adapt to become bigger, electricity-proof and either armoured or whatever can stop slattern's tail from damaging him (also note that the adaptation of becoming observant of shin is an IF scenario, and for bunkerbuster bombs, Shin just adapt to stop them hitting him, when he saw that the bunkerbuster bombs where from the planes he adapts and shoots out purple-laser thingy at his dorsal fins (give me a minute.............didn't think enough to make a name for that) that hits any planes hovering over him). It's just "ADAPTATION" for Shin Godzilla, still my favorite is Godzilla 2014.
Fly? All i know about Shin's 5th evolution is his tail, it was about to form a head but Shin was immobilized, after that a (i think about weeks or months) bunch of Humanoid creatures emerges from his tail that was i think it's is his fifth form.
I think they get the idea of Shin Flying is the jets flying above him (o boy) and when you though of that he really is becoming ok? "BECOMING" observant of his umm, let's say weak spots, another thing that proves that is when he was overheating, he realize that then go to the ocean to adapt again, i didn't know he was observant all this time from his 3rd form (the first form is actually a puffer fish with a tail and forming legs
